Canterbury Court Motel

Great stopping point if staying in Christchurch for a few days. The kitchen was a bonus and enjoyed the privacy of the carpark and separate buildings. Staff was helpful. Would return!

Everything. This was the most disgustingly dirty accommodation we have ever stayed in. Shame on whoever runs it. No one at reception/ no tea towells, 1/4 roll of toilet paper and none could be found. Bathroom/toilet was sickening. Shower door fell off, stove top was filthy, and much more.

Beds were comfy, room had what we needed for price

Unit was tired and needed some repairs. Funny smell in room.

Everything else including the fact they tried to charge my card before I arrived, when the booking clearly stated pay at time of arrival. Would not recommend thus placs, run down, unclean and smelly.

We chose this place as it was cheap and walking distance to the Wolfbrook Arena, where we were going for a concert. It was less than 10 minutes walk to the arena. The gardens have been sprayed so there's just a bunch of dead weeds, which looks bad. Our room was very tired and dated and needed a good deep clean. However, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom/bed linens were clean. If you want a hotel that's brand new and super clean then it's not for you. But if you just want a cheap bed for the night, it's totally fine. We're budget conscious so we enjoyed our stay. Why pay lots of money just to sleep? Save your money for an adventure or two!

The shower pressure was terrible, and the room needed a deep clean, ie, there was dust in corners, the shower curtain had some mould, the carpet needed cleaning, and it was just generally a bit grimy. If you're very fussy about cleanliness, then you won't like it.

Very disappointing

Property is very rundown. Needs a good clean. Beds and bedding were clean and comfortable but it stopped there. Didn't see the managers at all we arrived at 6.15pm and office was closed even though we were told they would be open until 8.30pm. TV didn't work, doors falling off wardrobes. Best to keep shoes on. Would not have cooked on the stove top. Looks like some has been "cooking" something.

Fantastic location, clean, modern, fresh and perfect for our stay with our two teenage daughters. We will be back, couldn’t fault the place or the lovely friendly owners.

The rooms were not as the same as shown in the photo . When we first entered the rooms it's smell like moldy and it was still there, even if the window were opened. The floor carpet was dirty and was not cleaned. The reception was always closed.

extremely dirty! dust everywhere. Hair and grime around every surface. we had to wipe couch down before we sat on it. Noone greeted at office, had to call to check in. didn't see any staff. Owners must not care for customers much!

The beds were comfy and the location worked well with off street parking.

The room smelt bad, the water pressure in the shower was terrible. It was bare minimum. Wifi was ultra slow. Had SKY on the sign but the only channel was 'Sky Open', the free channel. I've stayed at a lot of budget accommodation in NZ, and this was the worst.

We did not stay at this hotel. We arrived and based on the condition of the room, kitchen and entire property, we found an alternative hotel. We are unlikely to get a refund, but I think we should. There is "cheap and cheerful" and we weren't expecting luxury given the price. This is "cheap and depressing" and is in need of serious renovation and cleaning.We did not feel safe leaving our belongings unattended based on the whole property and some of the other guests milling about.We arrived. Took a look around. We left and found another hotel in Christchurch.The other hotel we found was only $75 more and Night. And. Day. difference.Don't stay here until there is either new ownership or a complete renovation.

Convenient location

Was quite run down. Exposed wires on a broken lamp. Obvious damage e.g broken cabinet ad chair. Lack of communication from place on arrival. Office was shut with no communication as to what we needed to do. Please note we arrived before 6pm. Potential damage to vehicles due to lack of viable parking (low carports that modern day cars can’t fit under)

Very poor

Very dirty. The room was run down in so many ways. There was a used plaster in the bed and hair on the sheets. The bedding smelt of urine and was stained. The bathroom was very unclean and had shaving hair and residue on the sink and bath. The shower was difficult to use and once it was hot it was no more than a dribble of water. The only choice of heating was a plug in heater. Looked absolutely nothing like the photos. I stayed with my child and left to a friends to bath her as I did not want to use the bath because of how unclean it was. Very awful experience.
