The staff did an excellent job to make me feel welcome.

Parking was somewhat cramped.

Staff were very friendly and we had everything we needed in the room.

Staff were friendly, the rooms were large, bed comfortable, heated rooms and towel rails. Very clean, definitely would stay there again.

Shower was a health & safety factor. A big step to get up and out of the shower. Almost slipped every time I got out.

Curtains loops breaking so could close out completely. No coffee plunger in room but staff provided when I asked so that was helpful.

Cleanliness was poor, door into toilet jams shut, lighting was limited. No milk offered for coffee stand. Bathroom accessories were limited. The drains right outside bedroom kept everyone awake.

The noise from the Papanui road is horrendous going all day and all night.

This was the best place we stayed during our South Island trip. We picked this place due to it's attractive price point despite the reviews, and after staying there we decided that others who are negatively reviewing this are expecting hotel services at a motel price. The bed was soooo comfy and it was a quick walk to find somewhere to eat and explore the city. The staff were so friendly and check-in was super quick, and parking was provided which made things much more convenient.

The only thing I could think of is potentially beginning to upgrade some of the facilities such as the bathroom, but it isn't a major concern and everything still works perfectly. It's hard to find a bad thing to say about this place.

Great location, relatively spacious room includes a table for two, a compact desk with a hall table. Are the toilet is separated from the main room by a shower room with a sink, which is nice nice. Separate small kitchen, although the door can’t be fully shut due to the damage. Enough free parking. Extended reception hours, till 9 PM. Affordable price. Good bedding and towels, although the bed is flimsy and keeps rolling away from the wall.

Kitchen isn’t tidy, tea/coffee has to be requested and incomplete cutlery for 2 people. The metal stairs might be a challenge for some people, with torn carpet on them. The facilities are really tired, the walls and the floor in the kitchen are not clean. The rubbish bin is just dirty. We shared 1 teaspoon for as a couple. Booked for three nights, but tea and coffee supplied for 1 night. But good value for money in this expensive location, and overall can do as some sort of an unassuming heritage accommodation.

Great design, quiet for a large group, had the sofa bad we requested.

So disappointed with the lack of power points. Lots of points but many blanked off so only 3 viable ones in the kitchen/dining/lounge area - Another behind the dresser in lounge is faulty and crackling... Couldn't see how to get the stove/cooker to switch on (not that we needed it).

Location was great, close to CBD. Bed was comfy and was great value for money.
