Great location, comfy well-appointed room, friendly staff, lovely breakfast options. Nice touch with Teddy George as a take home gift to remind us of our stay.
Not as high spec as we expected for the price.
Friendliness, customer focus and availability of a guest laundry room.
We stay here every year on our way through Christchurch and are always made to feel very welcome. The staff are friendly and attentive, the rooms are warm, comfortable and beautifully decorated.
Staff were incredibly kind and helpful. Felt like being welcomed by friends. Which was lovely after a long drive. Would definitely recommend and go back.little Teddy was a nice touch which our granddaughter who is also travelling loves. Teddy George is now travelling to the Abel Tasman!
Nothing. But we didn't have time there to try all the facilities. What we used was great.
The location was amazing, the staff couldn't be more helpful, the room was very comfortable, plenty of parking.
The cost of the breakfast was slightly expensive, more than what I was expecting for a breakfast.
Professional, friendly and helpful staff. Window opening, privacy button, being able to regulate bathroom floor temperature, and taxi call.
Air conditioning difficult to turn back on but admittedly I didn’t contact the front desk.
Loved our stay at this hotel . Mark the concierge was a brand ambassador for New Zealand . Excellent suggestions for restaurants polite and Graciousv. Matt att the reception checked us in gracious and kind we reached late after a delayed alpine train journey . Nicola was also so gracious .A very lovely hotel convenient to all sights .Lovely stay recommend to all . The graciousness of the staff speaks of wonderful leadership .
The staff were very helpful & kind. Sadly, our flight was changed and our stay at The George was shortened a bit. I wish we could have stayed longer. The room was comfortable, spacious, clean, and inviting. The heated floors on the bathroom were very nice. When 8 make it back to Christchurch one day, I will definitely book a stay at The George. Thank you.
Hotel and room were excellent. Location was great. Parking was free.
Staff was terrific. As I recall, concierge/doormen were earnest about helping with ideas for activities and restaurants, but the recommendations were sort of vague and for that reason not so useful. I also recall that when we went to breakfast, there was unreasonable panic by the hostess because we mistakenly sat down without realiizing we were supposed to check in (breakfast was included and no one was at the host stand at the moment we walked in)
Modern hotel, comfortable room bed and shower. Great location, next to the park.Offer umbrellas on rainy days.Good breakfast.
The room was spacious enough for 3 people (adults) and the location was perfect for morning run and evening stroll.Very close to Beautiful Hagley Park!
Wi-Fi was kept on dropping off initially but it somehow worked fine after a while.
Reception staff were very helpful. Breakfast was excellent.
Neither liquid soap nor a bar of soap beside the washbasin. The only soap was in the shower. This was rectified when I raised the matter with reception.
Everything about our stay was phenomenal! The nicest staff we have ever encountered in any hotel stay. Extremely comfortable room with many thoughtful touches and amenities. Great location right across the street from the Botanical Gardens, well worth a visit. We had dinner at 50 Bistro and found the same welcoming and caring attention. I would definitely stay here again.
There was nothing I did not like, this place is a gem!

We had the dining experience at the George, service was excellent but standard of cooking was far from expected.Menu was very basic and execution was poor.
This is THE luxury boutique hotel to stay in Christchurch. The room was comfortable, and the service was impeccable. Every staff we encountered were courteous. Food at their restaurant was very nice, so were the choices of wines by glass. The George bear was a nice touch, our old buddy now has a younger twin brother. If we ever make our way back to Christchurch, this is the place to stay. Book early, they do tend to sell out, I wonder why :)
If I had to cherrypick, the wifi signal in my room was a bit unstable.
Great hotel right in the heart of the city. Got upgraded to a Jr Suite which topped off the last night of a great trip to New Zealand
Like location Heater rail doesn't work easily One tiny low wash basin about 1 ft square for a Suite !!!Flooring carpets needs refresh Not worth the room rate
Located in front of Botanical gardens and within walking distance of city center. Very serene environment and relaxing atmosphere.
Slight mix up about our booking of breakfast which however was very well settled by Charise the front desk manager
