    Pros +

    • The breakfast was budget friendly which is nice. And they given me a bigger room than what I booked.
    • I actually liked most things about this hotel. The room was bigger than I expected, and for the price, it felt like I got much more than what I paid for. The staff communicated very well and were helpful throughout my stay. One thing I really appreciated was the shared facilities. There’s a spacious lounge and a service room where you can use a microwave and enjoy free coffee and soft drinks. They also provide tester of the Japanese shower products, which I thought was a great idea and smart marketing.Another big plus was the luggage storage service. You can leave your luggage at the front desk both before check-in and after check-out. Since check-out was at 10 a.m. and our flight wasn’t until 10 p.m., we came back twice during the day to store and pick up our things. For our travel plan, it was extremely convenient and much better than using coin lockers. The location is also great—close to many places, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and transportation, which made getting around very convenient.
    • The location, the price, the sleepwear, mini refrigerator, room lighting options, bed headboard with flashlight, the shower pressure, adjacent cafe restaurant with outside smoking tables.

    Cons -

    • I’m not sure coz I didn’t ask but if they have a smoking area that would be awesome.
    • There were a couple of cleanliness issues. The carpet floor in the room didn’t feel very clean, and we found some sugar sprinkles on the chair under the makeup table, likely left by the previous guest. It seemed like the cleaner may not have moved the chair to check underneath. Aside from those specific spots, everything else felt clean to me, especially the toilet, which I loved!
    • I was on the 2nd floor, next to the main lobby. It was pretty loud until it was later in the night and no one was in that area. Then it was fine.

Easy to find and budget option for an overnight stay in Denden Town.

I was on the 2nd floor, next to the main lobby. It was pretty loud until it was later in the night and no one was in that area. Then it was fine.

There’s a lot of Konbini and Train Stations nearby. Staffs are very helpful too.

    10MellanyPosted on: 1-14-2026

Near the station and free beverages. Near the seven eleven. Free breakfast.

    9SUBANAKEPosted on: 12-3-2025

The location was six minutes walking to Nankai Namba South Gate. Delicious breakfast and good front staffs.

    4MoePosted on: 12-1-2025

The location is nice to move around.

But the staffs are not really helpful and so ignorant. Especially they can’t communicate well with English and not try to understand what the customer needs. I had the very bad experience.

    7MarkPosted on: 11-29-2025

Location was quite central, close to Namba station and Kuromon Market.

Common area spaces with a bit disorganized and messy. The room decor was dated and the one recliner chair in the room was a broken, worn out massage chair.

    Clean and good location

    Small but typical for Japan

    3Hannah M.Posted on: 10-26-2025

Close to prime locations like kuromon market

Had bedbugs in the property . Management needs to address cleanliness.

    8CayennePosted on: 10-10-2025

Loved the free drink machines and proximity to shops and stores

    The mattress was very hard

The property is clean and affordable..The rate per night was worthy of the service provided and the location..

I didn't like anything about the hotel apart from the location.

Hotel Hillary falls dramatically short of even the most basic standards of hospitality. From the outset, the property presented significant issues. The single elevator servicing multiple floors was not only comically small but also entirely insufficient for the hotel's capacity, resulting in lengthy, inefficient waits.Upon entering our room, there was an overwhelming and persistent smoky aroma, which seemed to be a feature of both the corridors and our designated space. The room itself was astonishingly compact, challenging my family to navigate without collision. The advertised "amenities" were either non-functional or of such poor quality to be rendered useless; notably, the sink was clogged and drained at a glacial pace. The bathroom deserves its own special mention. It can only be described as claustrophobic. The dimensions were so limited that utilizing the facilities was an exercise in spatial awareness.A particular point of absurdity was the severe lack of basic furnishings. Our double room was equipped with a single chair, forcing a choice between seating and using the desk—a decision three people should never have to make. The included breakfast was the final straw. The offering was dismal, consisting of no pastries, unappealing hot items, and poorly brewed coffee. It was so subpar that we opted to forego it entirely on subsequent mornings, choosing the consistent quality and value of a nearby McDonald's instead. Furthermore we were limited to only half an hour for breakfast and the cafe was tiny.In summary, Hotel Hillary represents an extreme poor value. It ruined my holiday as we couldn't get any sleep, I would never in any capacity, recommend. I strongly advise travelers to seek alternative accommodation.

    Cheap

The old man chef at the breakfast cafe was extremely ill mannered for a Japanese. His hand was fast to touched and pushed my shoulder from beside me. That old thing didn't have respect for boundaries.

I love the location and the freebies at the lobby. Also quite big room for Japan!

    1Tzu M.Posted on: 7-31-2025

The staff locked our room for 15 mins without any apologize.Although we can not enter our room for 15 minutes and we have something to clean up.The staff still asked us to leave the room in time.

Free breakfast, drinks, shampoos, laundry area, everyday change of towels, near konbini

Very small bathroom. A bit far from train station

    6Hilarion K.Posted on: 7-20-2025

I liked the location and the price. The 7-Eleven on the ground floor was very convenient, and the 24/7 McDonald’s nearby was a plus to satisfy my midnight hunger. I also liked the free drinks in the lobby.

We were placed on a smoking floor, and the smell just wouldn’t go away—even with air freshener and opening the window. The TV worked, but we couldn’t find any channels. There were many Wi-Fi networks, but the connection was slow and kept dropping. It was also hard to adjust the shower temperature since it only had one water source—you had to manually mix the hot and cold, and switching from sink to shower out made it tricky.
