- Lovely breakfast w amazing. View
- Beautiful oasis near Imperial Palace; grounds were beautiful. We stayed in one of the Moroccan styled rooms and loved the decor.. really liked the Chinese door lock and lamps. The manager and staff were extremely kind and considerate.
- What an amazing hotel. It’s centrally located near some of Bangkok’s biggest sites, but it feels like a peaceful oasis. The rooms were comfortable and had a Thai flair. The grounds were absolutely beautifully landscaped with a view of the river and Wat Arun. Ohm and the team could not have been kinder. They were very accommodating when there were any issues and Ohm gave us some good suggestions for the area.Breakfast at the hotel was amazing. We just wish we would have stayed for dinner!
Cons -
- Rooms a little older and small. Hard matress
- My only regret is not having planned to stay here longer.
- I was a little disappointed in the food. I expected it to be exceptional, and it was not nearly what it should be. The fruit I was served in the morning was not ripe. The dinner which was supposed to be Michelin recommended was not up to par. It was served lukewarm and seemed like it had been sitting and not cooked and served right away. The menu was not discussed with me. I understand it is a set menu, but it should at least be described prior to being served. The food was adequate, but it was by no means unusual or special in anyway, and certainly not Michelin standards based on all my other Michelin experiences. I really expected and hoped it was going to be really special and fabulous and it lacked flavor and spice. I did tell the manager about it because if they don’t know they cannot improve.

This is a stunningly beautiful place right across the river from Wat Arum. The villa I stayed in was an antique Thai house. It was like having my own Jim Thompson home. I watched a light show across the river at Wat Arum and another wat from my terrace last night and walked to the Royal Palace in the afternoon. I swam in the pool this morning and had a breakfast this morning that was one of the best.
My only regret is not having planned to stay here longer.
Having booked a smaller suite, we got upgraded to a Thai House suite which was a traditional Thai house, but with all the modern comforts. The spacious airconditioned room was located on the second floor among trees and greenery. The adjacent large bathroom did not have AC. There was a very large balcony with a daybed under roof, two sun loungers and a table with two chairs all under parasols. The view from the balcony was of the garden and the main house (private). The general feeling was one of a resort in the countryside rather than in the middle of Bangkok a short walk from the Grand Palace and a Metro station. Breakfast is served to order on a purpose built covered restaurant pier over the river which has a stunning view of the fort and the temples across the river. In the evening the pier houses a restaurant that serves a fixed menu. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The only inconvenience we experienced was the noise from the river, but that really is not something that the hotel can do anything about. Bangkok is not a quiet town.
The room is very comfortable and beautiful. The property is gorgeous and tranquil. The staff could not be any more helpful and kind.

Lovely boutique hotel by the river. Great staff ! Chakrabongse Villas is a special place. The River View Suite was especially wonderful and spacious. Private Breakfast was excellent. While we ate on the banks of the Chao Praya, we could see Wat Arun temple.I wish I could stay there a few nights next year! It’s so amazing!
I recommend the owner:1) add Dinner room service 2) Improve this problem:The suite is soundproofed, so at night you can hear the noise of the boat engines.
Serene Compound, well sized suite, good amenities and super comfortable bed.
There was nothing not to like!
Great location, next to the main touristic sites, and with a view of the river. We were upgraded to a better room and it was very large and beautiful! The pool was always empty, being a small hotel, it was all for ourselves! Staff was very attentive.
Breakfast was delicious and you could order anything you wanted, but it was not a buffet.
Beautiful property. The room was very buque and the staff was very friendly. The property was within walking distance of many major attractions.
The bed was a little hard.
Gorgeous gardens and grounds. Quiet and secluded in the middle of town. Close to Wat Arun and Wat Pho.
Loved everything!
Perfect location just across the Museum of Siam, and a 5 minute tuk tuk ride to the Grand Palace. It feels like a tranquil oasis next to bustling city! And the site plus the views over the River and the Wat Arun are exceptionnel! Service amazing.
Great and friendly staff, incredible location and breakfast on the river worth it.
Staff were lovely, helpful and attentive. Room was big and clean. We didn't use the pool but it looked very tranquil. The breakfast area was amazing by the river and the food was excellent!
Stunning location overlooking the river and opposite Wat Arun, so couldnt be bettered for views or convenience to major attractions. Gardens were well maintained. Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was excellent and served at your table..The room was small, but it was fine for a short stay, but not much storage space. The bathroom was small and a bit old fashioned.
All the staff were very nice and the receptionist very kind, helpful and friendly. Amazing breakfast, you can eat while enjoying the beautiful waves from Chao Praya river. The Wat Pho and the Grand Palace are like 5 minutes and 15 minutes walk. They can get a personal canoe for you if you want for a one hour of the river. Alternatively a walk of less than ten minutes can take you to where you can take a canoe to cross the river and visit Wat Arun. The room is clean and tidy. Great standing bath, but if only there was a shower curtain it would be perfect. I did not want to flood the whole bathroom so I didn't shower the way I would love to.
A truly beautiful facility near almost everything you may want to see in the old town area of Bangkok. The staff are friendly and professional. The breakfast was delicious.
Too bad the hotel staff could not control the weather. April in Bangkok can be warm. If the staff could have made a bit cooler (no one can) that would have been better. The pool was a great escape from the warm weather.
It's a wonderful old property right on the river and in an excellent location.
Fabulous sanctuary in bustling Bangkok. Beautiful gardens on the river with a direct view of Wat Po. Fabulous Thai set menu. Omh the manager was a delight and so helpful. Perfect !
Everything was perfect
Excellent location, close to the Royal Palace and Wat Pho. Right on the river, so perfect view across to Wat Arun and to enjoy the busy river traffic. Delightful staff...could not do enough. Small, intimate, but the down side being it lacked a buzz.Calm retreat around a secluded pool after walking in the heat. Rooms were very clean; somewhat rustic rather than ultra modern utility that seemed in keeping.
