Colombo City Hotel

The room was clean and the restaurant was pretty good.

The air-conditioning barely worked at all. Internet was also not free, and this was the only place we stayed at during our vacation the charged for it.

Location very close to the train station was ideal as we stayed here after the train from Ella. Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the guy running the restaurant

Loads of mothballs in the room, including in the shower drain! I only stayed one night but my clothes smelled like mothballs anyway

The hotel is very close to the Colombo Fort station and there are many restaurants and cafès in the neighborhood. People are very kind and ready to help, especially Faraz at the reception will try to accomodate all your requests, always with a smile.

The housekeeping staff were very helpful

The reception staff were rude and indifferent, the breakfast buffet was SO BAD I have never been presented with a more disgusting and appalling selection of food. Cold chicken sausages, cold crispy and smelly scrambled egg, stale bread, cold coffee and cold tea and when I asked for fresh tea was told we don’t do that. Staff were sitting playing on their phones while we were presented with a truly awful selection of food and drinks. No juice at all

The only plus point was it is walking distance from Dutch hospital and the One Galle Face Mall

The hotel is old and the furniture dated. We stayed for one night only, so it was bearable, but I think there are better hotels around if you are staying for longer. Outside our room was the accounting department and we could hear all the conversations from the time they arrive in the morning, not to mention a group of tourists that were loud in the lobby below and the sound carried up through the stairwell to our room. Breakfast was passable.

All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.The manager especially went out of his way when I left my bag with money and documents in taxi from the airport. He was straight on the phone and back with me in half an hour, thank you very much.

Hotel is a bit dated, friends of mine had lots of cockroaches in their room.

- there was this male staff who work in counter, who is very rude, he thinks he is the owner of the place. Very very poor attitude, always angry.- repeatedly asked for complementary water and tea bags, but failled to provide until i yelled at the counter. -toilet is way too small for the price we paid.-place is very old, needs a gud maintanance.

Centrally located in a secure area. Close to some lovely restaurants and the Secretariat Halt train station. Clean, comfortable and secure rooms with constant a/c, a balcony, good size bathroom and an electronic safe.

Very central location and attentive staff who try to help you as best they can.

We booked three double and three single rooms (for different prices), however we got 6 the exact same rooms. These rooms are more suited for one person. We were placed on two smoking floors and the rooms reeked of cigarettes, there were cigarettes on the floors in the room and holes in the bedsheet. Really gross as we do not smoke and had a young child with us. After a complaint we got three larger rooms. However, here we discovered some cockroaches, so we left. Would never return. The staff tried to accommodate us but the hotel is unhygienic en dirty.

Breakfast not provided, but it is ok for us, Very good location,. They were not organized the room on checked in. but when we asked they did next day. entering door was not clean, it should have to be very clean, there were lots of finger prints on door handled and glass door. people smoke from out side there smell and smoke come to the room.

the young people who worked in front desk and inside are very generous and very polite. there customer service is 100%.

After an initial confusion about the room , not the one we booked but that was mainly due to the fact we arrived way to early and they did not want to leave us waiting, they quickly cleaned the room we booked . Nice room with balcony, good breakfast, good food. Good central location.

We visited this hotel 4 yrs ago, still the same way but rooms are renovated simple and nice and it was our second visit. Overall, everything was good. This time, we just layover there. It was much better comparing our first visit. nice view and very near to restaurants beache, ? nice hotel, we will Come back soon, can recommend this hotel ? ? ?

Check in prossess can be better, and they didn't even offer to the site us, Also, it was a long day for us 6 hours of travelling and then we reached the hotel, hotel outside no one there for help us with luggage ? But yeah, it's a bxi hotel, and colombo is a bxi city itself, we checked out very early morning so that time. The boy was in the reception and was very helpful. We don't have any complaints, but at this point, I just want highlights becox we're also working on the tourism (hotel) industry, so welcoming way is not good for me, it would be better they can ask us sit utill check in prossess finished , but they've very bxi and we stay there at front desk for 10 minutes no one offer to sit, and very important thing i want highlights that for room they can keep blanket atleast, when I went hotel I was not feeling well, had fever and in the bed there was Normal bedsheets only, I think it would be better they can keep blanket on cupboard. At least one.

I do not recommend staying here.

My stay at the hotel was disappointing. The room had a strong smell of mold and was quite damp throughout my stay. The hotel itself seemed outdated and didn't match the price paid for the quality of accommodation. Additionally, the breakfast provided was mediocre at best. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this hotel due to these issues.
