Nice staff and a good sized room

Location is excellent , very near to Gaya street. Back of hotel, I can go for brisk walk towards the Hilltop Observory. Staff is friendly, allowed me to put my luggage to in the store room before check in

The toilet, the bed, the room.

Location is in downtown KK, close to Gaya Street and its weekend night market. Room looks good and spacious, with large windows to have city view and warm sunray. Breakfast taste is good to have plenty of choices.

Check-out time is 12 pm, but my door card was invalid around 10 am. I took the card to the front desk. They told me the issue was fixed. However the card was still not able to open the door. I took the card to the front desk the 2nd time and they finally fixed the issue. The toilet cushion is not very clean to be brown-colored. There was NO shampoo NOR body lotion in the bathroom when I checked in.

the room wasn't big, but value for money, stayed here for transit for next day flight, easy to find grab to airport, around 15min-20min distance. walkable distance to town area for food...overall is ok

sound proof a bit weak, can hear our next room slamming the door when they exit and entering their room..The bathroom floor drain is draining very slowly, and there is slight water ponding during showering.

Overall very good. Need certain improvement1-Toilet cleanlinesa need to improved i.e floor neeb to scrub.2-Bedsheet need to improve on cleaness.

Moldy smell

I like the breakfast, a lot of choices. The atmosphere was great, and I had an awesome breakfast. We get to try many local foods. It would be great if there were more options for vegetarians on the menu in the restaurant for lunch and dinner.

I need to change the room at night because water was seeping out from the floor after I took a a bath. It could be a constant problem because the room was quite mouldy. I can see the air ventilation with mould on it.

Location is Dreamtel's strong selling point, rooms are clean, mattress is firm and pillows are just the right thickness for us. Air conditioner is cold, even when thermostat is set to 26°C - anything higher than this it gets stuffy.

For some reason we've been rather unlucky during our two stays this year. Both times conincideded with celebrations and rehearsals right next door. Rooms aren't sound proof so it's hard to get a good night's sleep as a result - only way is to book rooms with no windows.

We got a corner room on the top floor, which was lovely (& may have been an upgrade from what we paid for). The staff are extremely polite & friendly. The breakfast is adequate, & tries to cater to many ethnicities, but with some strange holes. The location was close to where we needed to be, & the Maxim taxis were generally responsive & very cheap.

The breakfast is nice, but with some strange holes. The juices (3 flavors) are all just artificially flavored sugar water, which doesn't fit the rest of the breakfast. They also believe (as does the rest of Malaysia) that hotdogs are "sausages".

Good location - walking distance to waterfront, shopping, food, coffee, etc. Clean rooms with very comfortable beds. Large selection of items on breakfast buffet.

Elevators were small and slow. Often took quite awhile to go up/down to the rooms.

The staff went out of their way to make sure we were well taken care of. We were having ongoing medical work that required extending our stay several times, & they rearranged their other guests so we could stay in the same room. Once when they were full & we were thinking that we'd have to leave, they got a last-minute cancellation & gave it to us, pushing us to the head of their queue. The breakfast caters to the locals, but they also have lots of western dishes (eggs, omelets, fresh fruit, pastries, cereal, even bread pudding).

While they offer 3 flavors of juice with breakfast, none of them are real fruit-juice. They're basically flavored sugar-water. We found this very strange given that the rest of the breakfast was so nice. I've mentioned this to the management, so perhaps it will get better. They supply hair a drier (& a safe, & ironing boards, & a small fridge), but only tiny bars of soap & no shampoo. Seemed strange in such a nice hotel.

The staff are wonderful, & the breakfast is nice. They provide some western dishes (eggs, bread pudding, juices, etc), enough for us to feel very comfortable. Some of the rooms can be a bit small, but we're traveling with a LOT of junk right now, & we're able to get everything in comfortably - but our Hotel.com upgrade to a bigger room was welcome. The Dreamtel is back against the hills, but close to where we wanted to go in KK. We were able to walk to most places, & Maxim (cabs) were easily & cheaply available when we were in a hurry.

The Dreamtel offers a buffet lunch Saturday & Sunday for ~US$12. We tried the Saturday buffet & while it was tasty, something made me sick. We've stayed at the Dreamtel several times, & we always eat breakfast here, so I suspect this was an isolated incident. Nothing really serious, & I'm feeling better after about 24 hours. I would have pushed my overall rating up to an 8/9 without this incident. The value for money us usually excellent.We were also here when the hotel was full & found that the WiFi couldn't really handle that load. It was fine for email & web browsing, but YouTube videos would only play at really low resolution, making everything look fuzzy & out of focus. This is the first time we've noticed this after staying here multiple times. Luckily, we could hotspot off our phones, so it was no problem for us. And usually the WiFi is adequate.

This a bit old, but clean and nice hotel. Walking distance to Gaya street.

The slight variations in the breakfast buffet was nice for staying a couple nights in a row. The bed and pillows were comfortable to sleep. Nice high floor so away from any street traffic for noise.

The rooms are a little dated and the drains in the bathroom seemed to be clogged which caused small flooding when showering. Though excellent hot water and pressure from shower with a shower door.

Food was good but we are a family of vegetarians so dinner was very limited

Near Kota Kinabalu town.A large TV with YouTube and other channels is a plus.Facilities like lift, fridge, lighting, air cond and free bottles of drinking water are working and OK.

The shower room smells like urine. Might be because it wasn’t cleaned properly or the right chemicals weren’t usedThe breakfast is a bit disappointing and the quality of food is low. Maybe it is due to the pricing.
