CU Boutique Hotel

WiFi connection was good as was the location.

It was an absolute dive and nothing " Boutique" about it. The rooms looked like something straight out of "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest". The bed was hard, my feet dangled over it. For $40, it is a rip off because on my travels around Thailand and Malaysia I got wonderful accommodation for less or slightly more. I am fairly fit and travelling with a backpack. But you need to navigate three flights of stairs with your luggage to get to your room. My room was located on a main transport artery and the room reverberated to the noise of motorbikes and I didn't sleep a wink.

Loved this place. Location was great, near to lots of night markets and the seafront. Staff were friendly and helpful. Clean sheets everyday, bedroom was nice and well looked after. Would definitely recommend.

toilet exhaust fan is not working. i informed them to fix it. a bit noisy becoz of the location near to the main road.

Near the center , The men on the staff were very kind and spoke excellent English...

while the women of the reception were rude and didn't even speak English wellBesides big problem...no soundproofing, a lot of noise from outside..

Very good location for exploring the city. Ferry port is very close. Only a few minutes from the night market with delicious food options.

The reception was very modern looking but the rest of the hotel looked in need of renovation.

The location is at the city center, near to the airport and you can find a lot of famous food & beverages outlets within walking distance. The Hotel allowed us to store our luggage after check-out as we are taking a night flight back to hometown. The Hotel does not have a lift. However, a male staff is polite and kind and helped us to carry down our heavy luggage from the reception which is located at the 1st floor.

The heavy traffic noise as the Hotel is located next to the main road.

It suited my purpose

The staff were very welcoming and friendly, anytime I had any difficulty - they were happy to help and be as accommodating as they could be. The rooms are spacious and the air conditioning was very good for those hot days - also, wifi speed was very good. The hotel was also well equipped to facilitate beverages if required, having a drinks freezer near reception and a cute takeaway coffee shop downstairs. The hotel location was perfect for me, near Jesselton Point for Island hoping, near plenty of stores, restaurants, and tour shops for excurrisions. Definitely would recommend this hotel if travelling with a budget, they have great staff and a great location.

I was travelling on a budget, so I expected the "you get what you pay for" scenario... with this in mind, the room was a lot better than I had anticipated. During my stay, some of the rooms were getting renovated - so I think any issues I had will be improved soon, the main room was fine, just needs a little more furnishing (bed side table / chest of drawers) and a wee touch of paint for wear and tear on the walls. The bathroom needs some updating, but it functions very well, free toiletries were provided, and it was very clean.

They lied!! They said that they mention in their hotel rules kene charge ikut per head! They charge us rm50 per head! I did inbox the owner is there any hidden charge but he said no.. only for deposit

I like that the place is easy to reach the durian market, suria mall. the room is nice yet it has a simple design.

it has no lift to go up with my luggage and baby stroller.

I like the concept of the stairs at the entrance to my room. Have a little bit of exercised after jalan makan makan. Staff is very friendly and helpfull

- spacious n clean room. Looks like newly renovated space. - very strategic location. Walking distance to todak waterfront, pasar filipine, suria sabah mall, pasar malam & other convenience store. No need to worry about finding foods and stuffs. We had a very pleasant stay walking around for 2 days before our hike to Gunung Kinabalu. - Friendly & helpfull staff. Met 3 of them ( forgot the name) but all were welcoming. They also allowed us to leave our belongings under their care for 2 days. Those things that we didnt wanna bring to the hike. Tq so much!- they have their own small coffee shop at the entrance with 10% disc for in house guest. Tried their mocha iced, it was nice!

Basically nothingMaybe some people dont like that the hotel doesnt have a lift but that is a small matter for us ? The staff also offered to bring our belongings up/down.Suggestion:To install towel rail somewhere else in the bathroom (i.e behind the door) instead of under the sink ?

Great location near to local restaurants, shops, mall and jetty for day trips. Staff are super friendly and can’t do enough for you. Kettles with teas & coffees provided when the room is made up. Well worth the price!

The Netflix didn’t work and the tv had limited channels however we had a ipad with us so didn’t effect our stay.
