    Pros +

    • The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are spacious. The ocean wing has a lovely outdoor tub.
    • Beautiful beach surrounded by nature
    • We highly recommend the Ocean View Deluxe room in the Garden Wing (there are two wings: Garden and Ocean). The Garden Wing is a bit cheaper and more crowded, but guests can access the entire resort; only breakfast and the pool have some restrictions. We absolutely loved our stay and spent a total of seven days, split into two stays. If you go on a tour, you can leave your luggage with the hotel. The area is far (1-2hours depending on traffic) from Kota Kinabalu, set along a very quiet and secluded beach and nature strip. The hotel facilities are spacious, with many activities and restaurants—enough entertainment for several days. All staff went above and beyond in terms of friendliness and helpfulness. We stayed during the Christmas and New Year break and were seriously impressed by how well and professionally the staff handled all the guests.

    Cons -

    • The Oaky platform that asks me to pre-book spa, f&b credits, and high tea did not relay the timing I selected. Check-in took 2 hours - I arrived at 730pm, and I got the keys to my room at 930pm. They got my bed request wrong. I asked for 2 beds.
    • Expensive food and internet was not that great
    • Breakfast got very busy, and the same goes for dinnertime, so expect some waiting time. In the room, some of the seating and couch areas with permanent pillows had stains. Free shuttles are offered, but the times are very limited, and unfortunately, we could not benefit from them at all.

Beautiful location on the beach! Beds super comfy. Nice pool and decent beach! Staff is super nice and upgraded us for free. Breakfast is amazing.

Location is far but they have a shuttle bus. Resturants are expensive, pack your own booze and snacks. We had a set menu dinner for NYE and were so disappointed.

Lovely development and rooms. Lots of activities for the kids. Room service was prompt.

There was no vegetarian or vegan options included in Christmas menus and required negation with the chef at every restaurant. The staff at the Japanese restaurant were quite rude and unfriendly. The staff at the Italian, lobby lounge, pool bar / restaurant all friendly. Mini bar not stocked.

An Unforgettable Getaway: Exceptional Service and Culinary Delights at Shangri-La Rasa Ria!From the moment we arrived, our stay at Shangri-La Rasa Ria was truly exceptional. This resort is a slice of paradise, but what made it stand out was the incredible team who went above and beyond.A massive credit is due to the Reservations staff, specifically Angel and Ruby. They handled our pre-arrival and check-in process with such smoothness and professionalism. They were highly efficient and incredibly accommodating, even graciously granting us a much-appreciated late check-out, which made our final day so much more relaxing. Their effort truly set a positive tone for the entire trip. The luxurious accommodations and stunning natural setting are a given, but I must highlight the delicious breakfast experience. Chef Agnes and her team deserve special praise. The quality, variety, and taste of the food were outstanding every morning. Her culinary talent made breakfast a genuine highlight of our day.Thank you to the entire team for a memorable stay. We can't wait to return here again!

Despite Sabah's abundant marine resources and easy access to fresh seafood, the prices for dinner seafood, particularly at restaurants, are unreasonably high.

This resort is the definition of customer service. Everyone was so nice, helpful and accommodating to make sure you have the best stay. It was a wonderful trip with lots of good buffets. The resort is far from the main city so if you do plan to stay here, splurge and go all out with full board and enjoy all the activities provided within the resort. Will definitely return in the future for another relaxing stay.

The place is fantastic for a family holidays. It has all you need to rest. The staff is very nice and keen to help you in anything you need. The food was awesome, and the different restaurants show a lot of variety. More over, the activities it offers are quite nice, and family friendly!

Two things. On the one hand side, they charge for everything in a way that pass to be exaggerated. For illustration, they have a very nice natural reserve where the tourist can go and see nature. Why to charge additional for it? The hotel is already quite pricy to cover the salary of the staff there, so why to try to get as much money for it. The second is that the booking webpage has some conveniently fake information. Yes they have a shuttle bus, but it goes 3 times to the airport, and if those times dont fit you, then there is no really free airport service, they will charge you a lot... like 3 more times the cost of a taxi service from the airport. Again, the place is great, but these things really disappoint... And, by the way, the beach is most likely going to be close... so dont expect it.

The suite was gorgeous, loved that there were 2 pool areas on the property. The restaurants were delicious with lots of halal options. The activities for kids were amazing and loved the sunrise hike organized by the hotel.

How far it was from the beach - was hoping it to be more beachfront as advertised. The restaurants on the property were super expensive for meals - will be getting breakfast and dinner if we stay next time. The distance from ocean to garden wing.

It’s size, really big property with plenty to do

Weren’t able to go in the beach due to some jelly fish issue. Not the properties doing.

The beach view was amazing, the staff were super friendly, and the entire resort was peaceful and beautiful. The room was very clean and comfortable.

Beautiful resort and the staff were amazing. They were polite and always ensured our stay was comfortable. There was always someone around to help if needed. There were lots of options for activities and excursions and prices were reasonable! Food was excellent and lots of options. I felt our entire stay was very good value for money.

Some of the buildings seem a little weathered and in need of renovations but I think that’s expected with the weather.

The pool was nice if you ignore the overly molded sunbeds.Breakfast was ok, but good luck if you ask for anything as they often forget and completely ignore you after.

Checked in around 6:45pm with a rather uninterested front office agent that seemed bothered by my questions on dinner options and activities around the resort. The first room we found quite a large lizard and we have called someone to come and have it removed as we were travelling with a 4 year old child. But let’s forget for a moment of the lizard and focus on the pubic hair that the carpet seemed to be quite full of it, the room dusty and smelling of mold, like no one has stayed in that room for months and no refreshing was done. A room move was promptly provided and we proceeded to have dinner, first table that was offered was next to the hostess where the traffic was high and next to the que as well. We asked to change the table, the waitress took forever to wipe the table and at the end left it quite dirty with cream cheese between the ratan. To order 2 beers took 3 waiters to pass by the table. We ordered a green tea which was promptly served into a cup with a wooden stirrer on top, no sugar, no tea pot, no tea spoon? The explanation given was that the staff is new.The second room provided, had a few concerns as well but we decided not to raise any as at this point we were tired and just wanted to rest. However, the amount of spiders living in that room per square meter was a clear overpopulation issue, spider webs and dusty cupboard that was not wiped off in who knows for how many months, made us decide not to hang even 1 piece of clothing. The mold on top of the ceiling above the bed, the ac fan that had dust bunnies and probably other creatures living inside, the spider webs, the lack of interest in cleaning the room from the housekeeping team were somehow manageable until at 11pm when I woke up in a bed with worms and the carpet invaded by a colony of worms.Still waiting for the promised refund and took them 2 weeks to reply to my follow up email, no wonder advance payment is required

    Convenient and good spread

Two lights - bedside and table lamp lights spoiled. But brightness in room acceptable

Staff were very friendly and helpful!!

The resort looked a little rundown. But we could see that efforts were being made to upkeep. We booked a karaoke room, unfortunately, was closed due to maintenance. Was then given the vvip room, and there was AC problem. Was too hot and there were leaks. Management was quick to get maintenance over to fix the problems and we were not charged for the room - so thankful for this. Breakfast spread was wonderful as usual, however, we felt that the Asian options were slightly salty. Our third stay at the resort, we always looked forward to Breakfast buffet spread!

Nice rooms, great food, lovely pool and beach area

The nature resort was a bit odd - there were big signs prohibiting you from going anywhere without a ranger (ie paying). Also breakfast seemed understaffed - the staff were working hard but there just weren’t enough of them to handle the crowds

Actually I check out early one day 2/4 , because 3/4 flights to kl ,and this area so traffic ,but hotel never return my money about 1xxx for me, last time stay with Shangri-la

Beautiful location and the sunsets are stunning.

Very expensive. Everything has a cost. The minibar fridge didn’t get cold enough to cool down drinks, probably to ensure that no one stored anything and had to eat & drink from the numerous food options.

    10JemmaPosted on: 4-23-2025

Everything- the food was exceptional the service was more. The people were really friendly. All the facilities were top quality. The garden massage was exceptional.

There were some challenges with the staff understanding what our board basis was whilst signing/paying for meals- but this was easily rectified.
