Pros +
- Historical hotel on a downtown location, walkable to attractions and food.
- Check-in process was quickly convenient. The room is large and decorated. Bed is comfortable for restless souls. Location is on Gaya Street, which is famous for its lively night market as well as many stores and restaurants. Staffers are helpful to answer my questions. As the first top-tier hotel in KK, this one has many stories to discover.
- We stayed in the newer more modern wing of the hotel. Bed was comfortable. Friendly staff remembered our faces and our bags when we collected them from storage. Close to our favourite cafes and restaurants!
Cons -
- There are no power controls near the door inside the room; The master power controls are on the bedside tables. This is not user-friendly because I have to go across the room in darkness to turn on the lights. There are 3 electricity outlets in the room but all of them are blocked by lamps or tables. Therefore, I had to call a house keeping staff to find the outlets for me. No breakfast is included although the price is higher than most other hotels with breakfasts.
- I wouldn't bother with the cafe next door for breakfast - not great and overpriced. There are so many other good places to go close by.
- Bathrooms need maintenance. The shower head is spraying water from both ends. Curtain not long enough to keep water in. Bathtub surround collects water and it the streams to one corner outside the tub creating a large pool by the door. Light control panel only worked by the right side bed.

The Jesselton is charmingly old fashioned and we enjoyed our stay there. It's really well located on Jalan Gaya. The room was comfortable and clean. Absolutely loved the piano in the lobby which I had a bit of a play on.

Location and colonial charm. The location is the best you can have.

The staffs are friendly and helpful. What I didn't expect is the location of the premise is within the walking distance to the Suria Sabah, local eateries, banks, pharmacies, convenience stores and etc.
boutique rooms are excellent. comfortable, modern, good wifi
old rooms have unstable wifi and a bit dated
the boutique rooms are excellent, even the smaller boutique queen. very comfortable! good wifiStaff are really helpful and accomodating
older rooms have unstable wifi and a bit dated
Peaceful but strategically placed for city centre. High standard of facilities for a remarkable price. Great bed, air conditioning and bathroom.
Nothing. It's very good.
Lovely old hotel, with character. Nice and clean
Lacked a bar

No breakfast, location is very good
The dated room and poor facilities in the toilet.
The decor, balcony, bathroom & location
Unfortunately, the reception area was out of bounds for renovation (eventhough it was meant to be completed by end Sept 2024)
Convenient location , nice staff and comfortable and clean room
location
renovation but was not advised upon booking or prior to arrival
Ground floor reception was undergoing building works, but a 1st floor temporary reception was satisfactory.
No offer of breakfast
The location and mostly friendly staff
The fact that the hotel was being refurbished. We would not have chosen this hotel if we had known about the refurbishment. Also there was no cafe or bar so we had to go out for all meals and drinks. Given what we paid, the hotel was definitely overpriced.
Pleasant
We were aware there would be building work but were not prepared for the strong unpleasant smell of glue (?) in and around the room
Heritage site Great location Good staff Bed comfortable
Rooms and bathrooms a bit jaded Renovations going onNo lift from floor 1 to ground level Very expensive
The location is great, easy to find food and on the weekends there is a night market and a morning market. The staff is also very friendly and polite.
During my stay they're doing a renovation and paint the room. It makes the whole building smell with a paint and make my family feel sick. They also need to fix the paip at the toilet which is water from the paip leaking and makes the floor wet.
