    Pros +

    • Good location in Chinatown, close to three MRT stations.
    • There was no breakfast or any food served ir offered
    • Not worth the money

    Cons -

    • Room size unacceptable, OK, this is not uncommon in the Far East.No place to hang a towel and very few coat hangers on the back of the door, no room to place luggage, no place to hang clothes, I had to spread them on the bed.The WC doubled as shower, so it was damp all the time. Some of the reception staff did not speak english, that's weird in a tourist area. Then, in the last day, no hot water, I had to take the shower in my next stay. The area is very noisy at nighttime, the very kind receptionist provides earplugs, but it's hard to sleep before 2-3 AM
    • It was kind of dirty, the staff was really nice and I had to pay a penalty for checking out 30 minutes late.
    • the room was so small for 3 people. The tv didn’t work. The whole place smelt musty and dirty. Our room was full of mould. It was horrible. And so very expensive.

Very good location, walking distance to metros, and restaurants around China town.

It was unlucky day for me, there was road construction as well as the noise from the road.

    Clean, good Aircon

    Small room, run down,

    3BarbaraPosted on: 7-5-2025

The location was quite good, close to 2 metro stations and bus stops

The layout of the room was quite dangerous for older people or those who are not very flexible. There were 2 steps up to a platform where there was a mattress with one side of the bed against the wall. We had to clamber onto the bed and then to get off it we had to drag ourselves to the edge and pull ourselves up holding onto the wall unit. There were 2 narrow steps down to the bathroom. The shower rose was above the toilet, there was no enclosed shower so the whole bathroom was wet and slippery. There was absolutely nowhere to put any luggage at all. A small refrigerator was stuck in a corner but unusable because the plug was the wrong one. There was nowhere to sit in the room, not even the bed as the mattress is at floor height.

The price compared to other hotels is definitely worth it. It’s in a great location in Chinatown, and there are many shops/restaurants nearby.

The rooms are a bit small but that comes with the price tag. Wasn’t a problem for our partner and I.

    2GuyPosted on: 4-15-2025

The room was in a state of disrepair with flaking paint and cracks in the walls therefore it was difficult to discern how clean the room was, suffice to say I felt uncomfortable staying there. And there was no table or even a chair to put my luggage on so I just had to leave my things on the floor. It was a bad experience and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great location and staff shower was good

Musty smell and room was tiny I got a single superior

    5KarlPosted on: 2-6-2025

    Passable

The hotel portrays itself as something of a 1920s retro colonial style building so we were disappointed to find when we got there, a very run of the mill, rather shabby boarding house.

    Very close to Chinatown

Price vs value is very low. Uncleared tower bags in hallway for the entire day. Smell musky and air very stagnant, and bug spray smell. Wall pain peeling off, doors at bath don’t close fully. Door safety lock broken but was not replace. We have 2 rooms (deluxe) booked for transit sleep for 1 night only, and we stayed out as long as possible to not go back.

Location was cool. Great restaurants around the area

It was moldy and smelled of wet carpet and mold as soon as you walked in. Moldy grout and tiles missing off the floor. Someone had slapped paint around and had gotten it on the curtains and door frames extra. Room was TINY. No place to put your bags. We looked in another room and it was even worse. Not worth the money. Singapore is expensive hotels but look elsewhere then here

Great location. 5 minutes walk to Outram Park MTR, and 6 minutes walk to Maxwell Hawker Market. Room is ideal for a single traveler who wishes to spend more time outside than in.

Great location in Chinatown next to 2 subway stations.Friendly and helpful staff.

Hotel is above a noisy bar, wear earplugs or go to bed late. Room is small. Shower and toilet are together making the floor always wet.

    8GuyPosted on: 11-27-2024

Location for me was ideal. Area had plenty of character. I had a couple of requests which the staff willingly fulfilled.

Room safe would have been nice. Biggest let down was the very dim lighting in the room. Bright light inside the shower room but there should have been a bright light over the wash basin.

    8TimPosted on: 11-20-2024

Bed was good clean and quiet

    9PatriciaPosted on: 11-18-2024

Location was excellent, within easy distance of trains or walking to where we wanted to go. Staff was excellent and very helpful - especially with information. Thanks to Susan, Hasseem and Adeline for all they did.

Noisy bar but midnight closure helped. Garbage bins being emptied in the night were loud. Of course, nothing can be done about this.

    7Kwai3Posted on: 11-14-2024

The locations are good. Only locked-down downtown and rooms on the main road are very noisy, especially the Singaporean nightlife held in these streets.

No doubt the hotel management is already helping out to swops the room. The noisy environment still remains.

Location is excellent and staff were very friendly.

I stayed here ten years ago. August of 2014 for three nights. It was a beautiful boutique hotel. Clean, comfortable, bright. But in those ten years the quality of the rooms and communal areas has gone completely downhill. Really neglected and in need of some improvements.

    6JuliePosted on: 11-5-2024

Location was good, within easy walking distance of the MTR and Chinatown. The room was light and airy, with a small balcony. Air conditioning was a must and this kept the room reasonably cool.

The bathroom was very small, and in need of some small repairs. There was a jug provided, but no tea/coffee supplies.
