Alma House

The location was good and bad. We liked that it has a lot of new resuturant/bar vibes but it was too far away from many city attractions and hawker centres. Amenities were good but the place was not set up to what was requested/discussed prior to landing.

Place is near places we want to visit.Place is surrounded by restaurants plus there is nearby supermarket adequately selling all our needs.

Not enough towels for 4 occupants. Additional towels need to be requested from reception according to housekeeper.No iron and ironing boards No coffee/tea satchets.

The location is excellent—very central and close to the river, which makes it perfect for evening strolls. It’s in New Bahru, and the complex itself is fantastic, with really cool restaurants and cafés right downstairs. There are even pottery, leather, and art classes in the same building, which I didn’t take this time but would love to try on future visits when the weather is bad.Connectivity was great: Fort Canning MRT is nearby, buses are close, and taking a taxi to the airport was easy and smooth. The staff were very friendly, and the place had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Overall, it’s a great base for exploring Singapore.

The only downside was that the windows don’t open, which made the room feel a bit stuffy at times. That said, this seems to be a general Singapore building/security norm, not specific to Alma House.

Great 2 week stay! The studio was plenty spacious and really like the kitchenette and washing machine inside the unit. The lobby co-working space is wonderful, plenty of different seating for remote working. We also love the location, close enough to the MRT and having Cold Storage downstairs is so convenient. We also took advantage of the New Bahru shuttle to Somerset, it's fast and runs all day. Will stay again!

Would really like a full shower door so the bathroom doesn't get wet after showering. Also would like more hangers for clothes and bigger drawers.

What a gem! This hotel is in a great complex (grocery store and restaurants onsite). It's everything I could have wanted in a short term apartment. The apartment was clean and the kitchenette was fully stocked with everything except a coffee maker but, I don't think they're popular in S.E.A. so, I was prepared and brought my own. The staff was great and very responsive and helpful.

Excellent location, great selection of shops (CS Fresh, PPP, Huevos, …) in the repurposed school block. Free shuttle bus to Somerset (Orchard) is quite useful. Amenities in the unit are still new (washer etc) and the shower water quality is great. The shower gel and shampoo are from a brand which is also featured in a store in the school block.

The building has been optimised to include as many rooms as possible, but this design choice is suboptimal for acoustics and natural light, with a summum of having a random pole in the middle of the room. Noisy neighbours 3 days straight (playing music until 1:30 am) did affect sleep. Staff mentioned they would find a resolution, but it did not lead to an improved outcome the following night. You can also hear the light switches in the neighbouring units, and the cooker hood disperses the smell to adjacent units.

Overall we had a pleasant stay at Alma house. The staff were very responsive, accommodating and helpful. The location is great as you are close to a lot of tourist attractions. However, it is very far from some of the other areas in town (like INSEAD Business school) if you are planning on taking the metro, so we had to spend a lot of money on Grabs. There are some great shops/boutiques and restaurants in the area, and there is a grocery store right below Alma House, which is very convenient.

There was a pillar in the middle of the room, which broke the entire flow of the apartment. There is no toaster and I had to ask for extra hangers as there is no drying rack available (even upon request). The shower has no door and the glass installed is very small, so the entire bathroom floods when you take a shower.

The New Bahru area where Alma House is located is so convenient - there are coffee shops, restaurants, retail outlets and a supermarket. There is such a cool vibe. It is very convenient to the orchard road area and the shuttle bus was an added convenience. We had a 2 bedroom suite which was spacious and comfortable. It was super easy to call for a taxi or Grab (the local ride share company). Since we were there for 2 weeks, this was a great place to stay and I highly recommend it.

A shower always resulted in the whole bathroom floor getting wet because of lack of a sizable shower door.

Location is transit friendly. Around 10min walk to bus stops and Fort Canning MRT. We didn’t have any problems going to and from Alma House except when we arrived from the airport with our luggages in tow. So yeah, if you have large and heavy suitcases with you I suggest just taking Grab from the airport (lesson learned, we did this when we left). The sidewalks are kinda narrow and some parts are not really smooth (think cobbletsones, block pavings).The facilites are great. They even have a water refilling station (we made the mistake of buying some because we didn’t read the guest directory that they have, so I suggest you do that right after you check-in.)There’s even a daily shuttle bus. We didn’t use it as most of the places we went to are already accessible from the nearest bus stop.We booked the 2-bedroom executive suite. It was clean and new. Bed was comfortable and soft. Smart TV for entertainment. Had grocery store below which was very convenient. Easy access for Grab drivers. 711 was near by as well. Wifi was high speed too.

The housekeeping was only twice a week, so only had it one time during the stay. Probably could of asked front desk for clean towels, but I dried and reused it during my stay. Also, I think it felt smaller than what was advertised, but still roomier for a single person.

I was first attracted by the design of their lobby and rooms I saw online, and the real property looks just like those pictures! What's better is their shuttle bus picks up/drops off their guests every 30 minutes, which is really convenient! AND, the accommodation is located inside a dainty little shopping mall. Overall, you don't have to worry about eating in that place. Besides, there is a washing machine in your room; you don't have to go back and forth, and there's no need to line up in the laundry room.

I could still find a few chocolate crumbs from the last guests on the carpet and the area under the sofa. Besides, the shuttle bus starts working at 11 am. For people who plan to explore the city in the morning, they have to walk for a distance to get to the nearest MRT station. But overall, me and my family still like Alma House very much! We are very happy we chose to stay there.

I stayed at Alma House for 34 nights during a trip to Singapore in July/Aug of 2025. I wanted something larger than a standard, downtown hotel room and was willing to sacrifice the traditional hotel amenities. I was also willing to sacrifice location if it meant I could save some money. The Alma House was just what I was looking for. I would best characterize the Alma House as "serviced apartments". I had a studio (Room 325) with Wi-Fi, bed, couch, cooktop, microwave, kitchen sink, fridge, and a washing machine/dyer combo. There is a grocery store called CS Fresh on the lower level. I shopped there almost daily for my meals. Alma House is approximately 10 minutes (1/2 mile) from the Fort Canning MRT station and approximately 20 minutes (1 mile) from the Dhoby Ghaut MRT station. These two stations provide access to four different MRT lines. You get used to the walk after a while. Robertson Quay and the Singapore River were also short walks away. I bought some laundry detergent and fabric softener and was able to do laundry in my room. There was no cable TV, but the TV in the room had access to Netflix and YouTube. The twice weekly room cleaning was sufficient. The A/C worked well. I had a quiet room on the back side rather than one which faced the noisy courtyard. After a month-long stay, I was satisfied with Alma House and would recommend it to fellow travelers. If you are willing to pay more, I thought the Concorde Hotel on Orchard Road would be a great option. I thought its location was perfect. Thanks for listening.

I have no complaints about my stay at the Alma House. It met my expectations. Everything comes with a cost. You could stay at a full-service hotel close to the action with a breakfast buffet, daily room cleaning, cable TV, pool and gym. Understand, you will have to pay more for those amenities.

It’s quiet surrounded and easy to get daily stuff because there’s grocery store at the ground floor and restaurants.

The location was a bit further from the MRT station and even the bus station.The sofa was pretty much stained without any other clothes covering and we need to contact staff for fixing that.The TV was flickering, this issue we also ask the staff to assist, luckily, they can change to the new TV for our staying.

Cozy room with well-functioned in-room equipment, including washer-dryer, microwave, and a little fridge. Everything is brand new. There's even USB chargers, which means you don't need plug converters to charge your electronic devices. The property is located within a shopping mall, with a big supermarket and dozens of restaurants (some of them are top-rated, so be prepared to wait during weekends) just downstairs. The staff is very nice and helpful, enquiries through WhatsApp are quickly responded. They have a clear e-brochure about everything in the hotel room sent to you when check-in.

The location is not so convenient for tourists. It's located halfway up a hill, nearly 1km away from the nearest MRT station (Fort Canning, DT), making the walk pretty difficult considering Singapore's hot and humid climate, and especially with luggage. There's a free shuttle service, but it's not frequent (every 40min) and only runs between 10:00-20:00. The nearest bus station is also nearly 500m away, on the top of the hill.I'm not happy with the room design, either. The shower area is separated from other part of the bathroom only by a small glass, which is not of use at all as the shower water still splash out everywhere, making the floor wet. I wonder why they don't put a sliding glass door in between. The room I got has another big problem: there's a big pillar in the middle of it, exactly blocking the way to the bed. Besides, the windows in my room are not complete ones, instead, they're in two separate parts, with half of each is in my room, and the other half in other rooms. I asked the staff to change to another room, but they said there were no room available on the day I checked in.Finally, the room is not sound-proof, at least I could hear other people watching videos late at night. The washing machine is located in the room itself, about 3 meters from the bed, and the noise it made during washing and drying is not suitable for sleeping (but it takes nearly 5 hours to complete a wash-dry cycle). It would also be better if there's a bedside table instead of a narrow space on top of the bed.

Loved the locality, amenities and the rooms! So clean! Amazing toiletries!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Alma House. Located within the New Bahru precinct, the studio room was modern, clean and well equipped. It was very comfortable and, despite being in a busy area (especially on weekends), was quiet.There's a fantastic selection of cafes and restaurants nearby, as well as a supermarket if you want to use the kitchenette.The reception space is a great area to work from as well.Alma House is incredibly good value for money and I will certainly stay there again in the future.

The hotel is located within a popular lifestyle precinct called New Bahru. This means there's great amenities (literally) on your doorstep, but it is worth noting it can be very busy on weekends. It was a little challenging maneuvering luggage through the crowds to the lifts (located at a narrow area), but manageable once reaching the Alma House reception area.

The location is great. very convenient. Staffs were friendly and helpful.

Please note one side of the property faces the wall of another building and receives almost no sunlight. It makes the rooms on that side very humid and to be honest a bit depressing. Because we were there for a long stay, we were able to change to the room on the sunny side.
