    Pros +

    • Private hot spring bath, Dyson hair dryer, semi-buffet breakfast, shuttle to the MRT, complimentary snacks and drinks.
    • The service offered by the Starr and its manager was top notch. We got upgraded to a suite after the first night when we complained about the room being on a small side. Caine the manager was more than kind to us and accommodated all our needs. Also, the breakfast was great with a diverse options. The in room mini bar was complimentary which made it easier since the hotel is located a bit on the hill and 10 minutes from Seven Elevens or other convenient stores.
    • Loved everything. This is our favorite hotel in Taipei. My senior Mom and I loved the public hot spring experience, as well as the one in our room. We enjoyed our breakfast and felt the 5-star service from the staff all throughout our stay. The manager was completely hands on and even walked us to our car after check-out. Truly a memorable stay.

    Cons -

    • A bit far from everything, front entrance isn’t wheel-chair accessible, the library has a skylight (sunlight yellows the books quickly) and most of the books on the upper shelves are fake, heating doesn’t really work.
    • One of the women’s outdoor hot bath was closed even the day before it was scheduled for a manage. It was disappointing that they didn’t follow the schedule which was notified to all guests.
    • The hourly bus shuttle service is too long to wait. So we took taxi most of the time.

Beautiful modern hotel, friendly attentive staff, fabulous private hot spring , large comfortable rooms & perfect location.

The outdoor bath and the in-room bath. The rooms are big, clean and comfortable.

The hourly bus shuttle service is too long to wait. So we took taxi most of the time.

The shuttle bus was great on the weekends! The breakfast was pretty good too, but the best part is the private hot springs bath

I wish the shuttle bus had more times in the morning and evening during the weekdays. I also wish the location wasn't up a steep hill

We had a wonderful time at the Gaia Hotel. Everything was clean and room service gave us new fruit every day. Darren was extremely helpful and went out of his way to make our experience phenomenal.

    8JeanniePosted on: 5-27-2025

Facilities are great, well maintained. We had hotpot for dinner which was also very delicious. We had some hiccups but Mr Yang, the director in charge walked extra miles to comfort us and shared his views on making the hotel a better place for guests.

Staff, especially frontline ones, are relatively inexperienced, resulting in some failures in service delivery, though attitude was good.

    8EduardoPosted on: 4-21-2025

The breakfast, the hotsprings were very good.

The location is on a hill, requires alot of walking. The amenities did not felt luxurious, the hotspring for men did not had the snow machine as advertised, and they close the outdoor hotspring without announcing anything.Overall too expensive for the quality you get, specially when comparing to other locations in Beitou.

Worthy of 5* rating. Ms Winnie? Wang brought us tea in the library at check-in, set up the room with shower chair AND toilet seat handles, all without us asking. Had correct # robes and slippers. Everyone there was just friendly, helpful, smiling, and always deferential to grandpa. Owner walked in the front entrance while we were waiting for our taxi at check-out and she asked if we would like water or tea. Seriously, what hotel owner DOES that?? Room was newer, modern, and exceptionally clean, including the hot springs soaking tub. The Beitou hot springs water does not make your fingertips wrinkled. 30 minute muscle relaxation massage was excellent, at 55usd. Overall, stay was pricy, but you absolutely get what you pay for in this case!

It's on a little hill. They have complementary shuttles to the MRT and I believe to town?, but if you want to walk back, it will be a good workout.

Great onsen facilities and the staff was super nice and helpful. The breakfast was also excellent.

    9AdamPosted on: 2-11-2025

The breakfast was good, especially because it had a pot of drip coffee and a granola like cereal. And I really enjoyed having a Japanese style bath in our room!

I wish the price was a little lower.

    6AlexandraPosted on: 2-11-2025

The facilities were good. We had dinner at the Japanese restaurant and were satisfied with the food's quality. Complimentary snacks and drinks within the room added to the experience.

The onsen within the room was not completely clean as hair was noted at the edge of the bathtub before first use, although the room had a strong smell of disinfectant. The swimming pool was not open due to cold weather, even though the weather was mild (15c). The restaurant was understaffed as staff were seen attending to the function rooms and left the restaurant unattended at times.

Individual hot spring tub in our room

Location - not really accessible via walking however the hotel provided shuttles which you had to reserve a seat on

    7WeiPosted on: 1-30-2025

The private hot spring tube in the room and the fact that there was an extra toilet in the living area. There was also complimentary water, drinks, fruits and Petit fours. The room was relatively clean and they provide Dyson hairdryers. The public onsen was also available for use and as it was quiet, I had the space for myself. When you figure out how to get around, there is a short cut though some stairs to get to the main downtown area so the location is convenient and if you do not mind walking, you don’t even need to use the shuttle bus service.

On a Taiwanese scale, the family room rate was quite expensive for the size and facilities; the room was relatively small and we struggled a bit to walk around once we had all our luggages opened. The safe was out of battery so I had to get a staff to open it for me; when I saw how easy it was for him to open it, I preferred to not store anything in there anymore. Overall, the space was rather small for a family room; bathroom lacked space and should have been big enough to accommodate 2 sinks and more hanging space for our clothes and towels; it felt very crammed. My boys are teenagers but they are both taller than 1.8M and the sofa bed was too short for them. The hotel is aged and isn’t as nice as the pictures on the site; it feels frozen in time. We stayed 2 nights to fully enjoy the soak and relax and breakfast was exactly the same on both days; it had a reasonable options but the food isn’t exceptional in terms of quality; the sausages were dry and the seafood congee wasn’t warm enough. We paid around 1,000 AUD per night but I thing 700 AUD would have been more reasonable. Villa 32 is more value for money in comparaison.

Relaxing vibe/ hot spring. Clear, kind and nice reception. Breakfast in good quality. Quick emailrespond and considerate manner shown even after we check out.

Service in both western and Shabu shabu restaurant is disappointing. Stand in front of the restaurant for a long time before serving. Cannot provide clear and appropriate information and option for us to choose. Frequent dish collection service that made us cannot enjoy our dinner.

    Relatively comfortable room.

While the room at The Gaia Hotel was relatively comfortable, the experience was marred by inattentive and unprofessional pool staff who ignored my questions despite my friendly tone. Their "environmentally friendly" approach, like not providing basic amenities (toothbrush, razors), felt more like cost-cutting. The mandatory swimming cap for the pool seemed unnecessary, especially when the room’s bathtub had hair from previous guests, reflecting a lack of thorough cleaning. Disappointing overall.

beautiful decor and hot spring in the room is good. welcome fruit basket also good.

    10AdriennePosted on: 9-10-2024

Exceptional. Great service, amenities were all clear and explained to me in English, had a lovely time in the hot springs, the pool and the restaurant.

A good variety of fruits for breakfast. The semi-buffet cold dishes are covered with transparent lids giving a very hygienic impression. The reception lady staff had attention to customer details. She offered me a birthday present by surprise. Convenient half hourly shuttle bus service to train stations on weekends. But even walking is only about 10 minutes to the nearest New Beitou Station.

A bit odd to find no soap at bathroom basin. I took the body lotion by mistake.
