Location in front of Lake makes it special. Fresh air helps you to rejuvenate. Staff was friendly.

Beautiful hotel located within beautiful scenery.

The hotel's own café has high minimum order restrictions. Only buying a piece of cake and relaxing in the café is not allowed.

Excellent location, easy walking distance to the Clear Lake Park. Two of the three rooms were large, quite comfortable. The view from the balcony of each room was fantastic.

One of the three rooms was small. The balcony is small, in comparison with the size of the balcony of the Grand Hotel in Taipei. There is no place to hang clothes in the bathroom. The hotel is dated and is small in comparison with the Grand Hotel in Taipei. The food selection in the restaurant is also limited.

The tv volume was limited very low and we couldn’t raise it even with help from the staff

View and room are fantastic

Some interiors and paintings are too old and need some renovation. Can improve the quality of coffee and add extra convenience store would be great.

Spaced room and beautiful balcony

Beautiful, classic hotel, the best I have ever stayed in. The room is exceedingly spacious. Even the hallway is three to four times the average hotel. Breakfast (not included in the room rate) had wide choices. There is a good-sized lake a short distance behind the hotel.

A beautiful hotel with stunning historic architecture and plenty of character. It’s a wonderful choice for foreign visitors who appreciate culture and history. The only downside is that it’s quite far from the city center and not very close to public transportation. However, getting an Uber or taxi was easy and convenient.

The experience at this Grand Hotel in Kaohsiung is far worse than the Grand Hotel in Taipei, where I stayed in June. The hotel here in Kaohsiung is VERY OLD and outdated!! The breakfast is not comparable to the one in Taipei. I have deep regret staying at this hotel in Kaohsiung.

EVERYTHING!! The room, the floor, the bed, the breakfast, and the OUTDATED vibe of the hotel!

Incredible hotel!! It was once a royal guesthouse, that has been converted to a hotel. The facility is very fancy and well maintained. The rooms are huge with a beautiful balcony.The views are wonderful, there's a forest and a lake just outside.There's a pool and 4 fancy restaurants in the hotel.

You can exit the hotel from one direction only, so you need to walk around it entirely to get to the pool & lake and forest. It is quite a walk...

The ambiance, the warm smile from the staff especially the restaurant staff and the room is big with comfy beds. Like much the terrace and of course the outdoor swimming pool. Perfect place to stay with

Beautiful facility, substantial Asian and Western variety at breakfast, convenient to lake, helpful staff.

Beds were terribly hard until we moved to a newly renovated room on the 4th floor.

I stayed at the hotel having had an excellent experience at the Grand Hotel in Taipei. While I felt having the lake and beautiful park right next door in Kaohsiung was an upgrade, the actual hotel was not on a par with the one in Taipei. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, however.

Room was not that clean unfortunately. The restaurant was not as good as I'd experienced in Taipei. The hot tub at the pool was lukewarm at best - and the changing rooms were a real issue. The only changing area is right in front of the door, so offers zero privacy.

The hotel itself was lovely. We loved the decor and the grandiosity. The staff was helpful.

The “bistro “ restaurant dinner took THREE HOURS. It used up our entire evening. We were stranded there. It was very frustrating

First and foremost I'd suggest to take a room with pool view, cose actual view is over the huge spectacular park and lake. That view is well worth of money.Room was large and... in former times well equipped.At that time place was quite empty so we enjoyed very quite, peaceful atmosphere.Yes, whole place reminds about remnants of former luxury...BTW - inhouse restaurant provides decent food for quite a reasonable money. My best regards to chef.

Place screams and cries for refurbishment. Lovely wall paintings faded/peeled long ago. Traces of use and abuse can be seen everywhere. Water stains, etc.If one can survive without his glasses - I'd suggest left them in pocket. Breakfast - I wouldn't suggest to pay for it.

Location isn't the most convenient. Book the shuttle in advance if you need it. Food looks good, but it's awfully expensive. The mattress was too firm for me but maybe you like that,

Maybe a bit out of the way for tourists who need to rely on public transport to explore the city.
