Shangri-La Hotel The Marina Cairns

The location was fabulous. We were greeted well by the reception. Sadly our room wasn’t ready but we were very early - but as we’d been up since 2am, we then had to find something to do for quite a while. The room was great but there’s only one mirror and power in the bathroom so if my husband wanted to shower / shave it wasn’t very practical if I wanted to get ready. The two double beds were great!

Mirror and power would have been good in the bedroom as well. Our rooms opposite the heliport so very noisy during the day - when we finally got access to our room and wanted to nap after a very early start. The girl sorting the various tour options wasn’t as well informed as she could have been and there were limited options. Having then been on two trips we realised what more we could have done. I would recommend using local tourist offices in the town rather than the hotel’s. Even her directions of places to walk in cairns weren’t very helpful.

Good

The property is very dated and in need of some TLC. Our room Club Room wasn’t overly clean, very tired and frayed. I asked for a mirror to be able to dry my hair as hairdryer isn’t allowed in the bathroom. I was given a handheld table mirror that was so rusty it flaked away.

I liked the room, the swimming pool, the staffs and the service for my eleven year old daughter. So thank you very much from me and my family, l look forward to staying there again.

Location was good.

Shower over a bath is so 3 star, lift your game. Booked a twin share room, was given a king with a wheel in trundle, very low standard.

The membership system failed online and was not given the discount that was my original reason for booking, so I had to pay full price

The location , room , breakfast, was a really nice stay with family

The staff were exceptionally professional, quick easy check in , well trained staff

There was nothing I did not like about my stay

Liked the location and the upgraded room to harbour view without additional charge since we checked in late at 2 am. and had to pay for the whole night of 15 January 2026. Liked the staff and manager at the resteraunt overlooking the harbour. So also the food. The staff at the hotel took care of our luggage after we checked out at 8 am and went on a tour booked.

No concession given considering we checked in late at. 2 am. Deposit of $300 taken by hotel at check in and not yet returned. Could you please request Shangri-La to refund the deposit.

Convenient, comfortable. Nothing was too hard for the staff. Very friendly & accommodating.

Beautiful property in a wonderful location, right next to the boat terminal and lagoon. Lovely pool and hotel facilities; great food and drink. Lots of restaurants along the marina front with lots to choose from with a great restaurant on site,

We stayed in an area of the hotel where directly underneath us was a bar / club that played extremely loud music until late into the evening. It didn’t bother us too much but just to be considered as it was not expected from a hotel with a more premium reputation.

Friendly staff and nice and clean. Access to all activity’s .Would totally recommend the Shangri-La .Will be back soon

Great location, short stroll to everything and dining at your doorstep. Tour boats, sky diving, kuranda skyrail pick up point were all just over the road. Beds were amazingly comfy. Staff were very helpful from the minute we arrived to helping us upgrade to a better view. Definitely recommend the marina view, sunrises were amazing from here.

The friendly happy staff make this place. Always smiling and greeting you warmly.

We had an amazing room, but those great rooms were not close to the lifts to get you to the main area. But also a great walk after a huge breakfast.

Spectacular, best way to spend New Year’s Eve. Perfect vantage point to see fireworks. Big hooray for Chris Mc for assisting with our room allocation.

Everything! Staff were friendly, I’m a cleaner and couldn’t fault it at all, location was perfect, bed was the comfiest I’ve ever slept in & loved the fact you could just go down stairs and get a barista made coffee first thing in the morning!

Really enjoyed the stay here, pool area was great to relax

Hard to find something we didn't like, if I was being fussy, we ordered some food from the pool bar and the chips looked like they were burnt and the pizza was undercooked, yet still edible
