It was a good place to stay for the price.

It was a bit further walk than I thought it would be from the downtown area, but it was great for the price.

Bugs everywhere. Bad door bad lock. Mouse in kitchen. Towels are stinky.

Rooms were clean, kitchen had plenty of space and facilities

Property was good value for money, we had a room with a shower and was perfect for 2 nights

Gym was a bit limited but only there for 2 nights so wasn’t too bad.

I like the staff, the location and the space of the room.

The room was not clean, a lot of dust, the smelly was awful, it were insects and rubbish under the bed.The bathroom was dirty with mold, and kitchen was dirty as the fridge and were insects and the quality of the plates and pans were dirty.I did not want to cook anything there.

Not acceptable – cockroaches in...

Our stay at Cairns City Backpackers was extremely disappointing. From the first night we arrived, we found cockroaches in our room. We even had to trap one under a glass because there was no staff at reception to help. Throughout the stay we continued to find cockroaches in the room, including waking up to a half-dead one on the floor. It was honestly disgusting and made us feel very uncomfortable.The staff’s only “solution” was to give us spray and tell us to handle it ourselves. Even after spraying, more cockroaches appeared. The hostel also tried to blame it on food packaging, but the insects were there before we even unpacked anything. This clearly shows that the problem was there long before we arrived.Yes, Cairns is tropical, but this level of pests is not normal and definitely not acceptable in a guest room. We did not feel the room was hygienic or properly maintained, and the whole experience was very stressful.Would not recommend staying here unless the hostel seriously improves cleanliness and handles the infestation properly.

It was close to the shopping center and the bus stop; it was quiet.

The room is much older than it looks in the photos, and the bathroom was always extremely dirty, with a strong smell of urine.

Great location.Lovely staff.Decent facilities (i.e. toilets and kitchen space).Shower in our room was handy (and a bit different to see).

Room was a bit small, but it still worked, and matched what we paid. Overall very happy.

The garden was nice, the staff very friendly and helpful.

The room doesn't soundproof, we can hear anything from our room.

Room was clean, site was quiet an short walk to city.

A chair and desk in the room would be an improvement.

Great location, really good kitchen facilities

The bed wasn’t very comfy, I could feel the springs in the mattress when I was sleeping

I liked the room; it was clean and met my standards. The kitchen was nice as well, very good to have the option. The rest of the property was very nice and well kept! :)

The only thing that was not very clean was the bathroom. The sinks were also quite small and there was no counter space.

Clean, rambling queenslander with donga type rooms added. Good for an overnight stay before the airport.

Really nice hostel! Rooms are comfortable with AC and fans, the kitchen and bathrooms are clean, and the common areas are cozy. The staff is very friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming.

The hostel is a little bit far away from the center (25min walk)

The private room was good, clean and comfortable.

Very nice hostel, good value for money, kitchen fully equipped, quiet in night. When I will come back to Cairns definitely I will sleep there. Cheers
