- The location and live music
- Rooms were great
- The room was spacious for 4 people. Nice having amenities in the Welcome Bay suite to include washer and dryer. The breakfast at Zephyr was great, highly recommend. The snorkeling right off the property was excellent, could’ve spent all day out there.
Cons -
- I booked a mysterious 4* deal with you guys and it stated it was in the Cairns region. Once I booked the hotel it was too late to get to the hotel. The hotel is on an island and no more boats were going there.
- Rooms were not next to each other as advertised and walk ways needed replacing in sections.Lack of communication by manager when ferry was delayed twice. No offer of food or drink despite waiting for hours to leave island. Staff complained of poor management too.
- The room was a little tired. There were tiles popping in the main floor of our room. Also, the hot tub was not working.

Excellent location. Beautiful snorkeling right off the beach. Saw a turtle every time I snorkeled plus reef sharks and hundreds of species of fish! It’s also good value for money and affordable as opposed to resorts on the other islands which are very expensive!
The hotel is a bit dated. The room smelt damp and mouldy and there was a loud humming noise that I couldn’t turn off so ended up sleeping with earplugs. The beds are very soft which is not good for someone with a bad back and made me quite sore. The food was generally ok, but nothing special (same with drinks), but breakfast was terrible value for money. Over $40 for breakfast and I could only eat the toast (felt like old bread) and hash browns and roasted tomatoes and fruit as I’m vegan. Felt ripped off by that.
Great customer service, great location and cafes were reasonably priced.
The poolbar staff member is very slow and at one stage he was too busy talking to a lady to serve. He noticed us waiting after seeing us standing there for a long time and it wasn't until another guest came over that he must have thought, I'm getting a line up I better do my job.... The rooms were very aged and not value for money. The rooms smell like mould and it is time for the resort to do an upgrade. Very musty damp rooms that smell.
The island itself is the main attraction. Nudie beach is exceptional and the reef was great. We saw multiple turtles and tons of fish. The breakfast is great, food is generally very good and the dinner at Zephyr was absolutely amazing. This isnt a luxury resort, more like glamping with some great access to nature.
We had a mixed experience at check in. Rooms werent ready on time, our bags werent delivered an hour after we got our rooms, when we were trying to find our rooms the staff seemed confused about where it was and sent us in the wrong direction. We ended up walking for over 20 mins with 2 kids and everyone was very grumpy by the time we finally got to our rooms. We then had a very weird interaction at the dive shop. We tried renting gear and the staff told us they couldnt help us as the shop was closing. We tried explaining we were late because our rooms werent ready and we had trouble finding our rooms but they refused to help, and frankly were quite rude. All of this led to us deciding to cut our stay short. That said, the manager handled our request like a champion and as we discovered the island, we came around a bit (well I did, the wife didnt - so we still left early)

The location was outstanding. The beach with amazing snorkeling is only steps away.
When we first checked in and opened the door to the apartment, we were struck with an overwhelming smell of mould. We opened it all up but it took 1.5 days to rid of the smell. We had a 1 bedroom room, which looked just like the pictures, but it is in desperate need of a renovation. The interiors are very 90s, and I think a lot of the joinery has absorbed the humidity and is harboring the mould. The fridge was very rusty and didn't close properly and also made a loud constant hum. The shower had no pressure at all and was hardly warm. It was hard to get or feel clean. There was space for a washing machine but there isn't one in the apartment. Instead an entire floor shares one washing machine and dryer, which you need 2x $2 coins to operate, but who has coins anymore? There was no information in the listing about the equipment in the Kitchen so we didn't know what to bring or where we could get food from. The Kitchen is actually fully equipped minus a dishwasher, although there are no basics like salt and pepper, only tea and coffee sachets. There are 2 places to eat on the island, the buffet which is exorbitantly priced ($70/head for dinner), and the cafe/bar which is mostly burgers. The buffet breakfast was basic for the cost. Salmon was mentioned on the menu but there was none, pastries tasted a day old, all the hot food was luke warm. We wish we brought more food to the island to make ourselves. There is a general store, but it certainly didn't stock anything we could cook with and I'm not sure it even had milk. There were some sandwiches void of salad, and pies. Other than that the bed was very comfortable and the apartment was spacious and laid out well with large openings to capture views and breeze. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed out time here.
The opportunity to swim in turquoise waters.
Went to have a cocktail in the pool in the late afternoon but bar was closed after 4 pm for cocktails.A bit odd and disappointing.
The Island is beautiful, and the staff was very helpful.
The bed was uncomfortable, and the room needs updating.
Rooms were great, location amazing, nice to have breakfast as well.
The shower flooded onto the bathroom floor - definitely needed to be repaired.
The property and general facilities were great. The room was presented very well. The kitchen facilities were great. Staff were very helpful. Food at both venues was really good.
General maintenance around the property need to be improved. Some of the tables at Foxy's were picnic tables, so they could be improved to real tables. Public Toilets seem to be out of order more than expected.
Beautiful location and the Welcome Suite was great with fabulous view and good facilities including kitchen. We were on the top floor and great to have the balcony with drying rack. Local sunbirds and yellow spotted monitor were great to see round the resort. We visited the turtle rehabilitation centre and were grateful for the awesome work they do and for the resort’s contribution- especially since we saw turtles snorkeling.
It’s a tropical location so don’t expect spotless grout etc. Being on the top floor does mean a bit more of a walk to get to the beach via stairs or lift. They were redoing the boardwalk so we had to go around a few times but it’s much needed and will look great once done with the new ecodeck.
Walks & snorkelling
Poor selection in shop, r.g. no fruit, yoghurt.Expensive restaurant. More variety needed in cafe, eg sandwiches
The island and restaurants were fantastic. The Zephyr restaurant was top-notch.
I asked the front desk SEVEN times in one day for a towel refresh. Each time, they assured me it was coming. The staff are mostly young people working from other countries, and it is obvious they do not have the necessary experience. Fitzroy Island needs a full-time manager overseeing all these young people on a daily basis. If they do have someone, they should replace them immediately.
Resort welcome upon entry was warm and friendly with lots of information to guide you through everything. The room was large, clean with fan and aircon or extra blankets if needed. You walk right off the beach to snorkel! We unfortunately had windy and cold weather as is usually for winter time so visibility with snorkeling was not as clear as normal but we still managed to see beautiful fish and turtles everyday and battled the cold water with wet suits which helped! The walking trails here are just stunning and you are literally walking through the forest.Only short tracks say 30 minutes and worth every second.Lovely pool to relax at.The famous nudey beach did not disappoint and well worth the walk through the forest over.
The food was decent at Foxy's but limited options. But maybe I'm picky? LolAmazing views of the ocean.Buffet breakfast was probably the most disappointing. Such a little buffet for $35 per person but perfect views of that water again and friendly staff. The shops were poorly stocked so make sure you have everything you need honestly! And as per usual island vibe, everything is pricey but all in all a lovely experience.
Great location. Enjoyed staying at the resort and snorkeling all day.
Didn’t like the extra charges on snorkeling tour - required to pay to rent child life jacket. Breakfast buffet was expensive given limited food options.
I like the place it was best when I got a better room and I was told id get one. I am still hopeful as last two weeks my room was fabulous. I did get in trouble for smoking ? that was fair as they are gross other than that I have been treated wonderful. There should be more food available for children in the restaurant and I did not like the apple dessert but the other meals are great the staff are kind and the manager is too. I really would advise anyone to stay but make sure you book the right room first on booking . Com I thought I had as I was told my second fortnight was going to be the same as my first fortnight but I was given a tiny room with no kitchen for two weeks this is not suitable. I had a great discounted room to start with but after my smoking I think the staff were reluctant to do it again I have not smoked since only in the designated smoking zones. So I will let you know how i go with getting the same as last fortnight as it's cost me a fortune to stay a month. I am sad but I made the choice to come because of .y first booking which was not even real that is very bad and it's still advertised on this website do not book the place in cairns at the ensuite as the home has been sold and it is not being fixed on this site. I didn't have another choice by then and I was told .y stay here would be covered by insurance I'm yet to find out if it is which terrifies me as I am homeless just lost my mum and unemployed. I was only able to come to fitzroy from a redress payment for being molested and I pray I'm not going to be robbed of this too. I really think I will get a better room I shall see. God bless fitzroy island as they are a great choice for anyone who can afford to be here. I can't that's why I cannot leave as there is no refund on bookings I thought that's what the insurance covers but I dont know yet will keep you posted.
I dont like being told one thing and given another. I was told at reception my new roo. Was the same as my first but it is nothing like it. I have no space no view and no kitchen. For two weeks which I extended to a month it is not great.
Location is greatStaff are friendly
This resort needs serious renovation. There are lots of things which needs to improve.Rooms are not clean
