    Pros +

    • Location Great
    • We had room service for breakfast and the food was delicious. The well dressed waiter bought the food to our table and laid it out for us.
    • Loved the abundance of dining options on offer. Thai restaurant sAME sAME was exquisite!

    Cons -

    • Restocking the Mini Bar, Coffee capsules, Tea, Milk etc as one would expect when staying more than one night.
    • Breakfast should be included when paying such a high price for a hotelroom
    • A tiny quibble but only four coat hangers provided. For just me that wasn't enough, let alone if there were two people in the room.

The Calile Hotel is one of our favourite places to stay in Brisbane. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere feels relaxed, stylish and welcoming. The rooms are beautifully designed, comfortable and thoughtfully appointed. The pool area is stunning and feels like a resort in the middle of the city. The location on James Street is unbeatable, surrounded by fantastic dining and shopping options.Service was warm and professional throughout our stay. We absolutely loved the experience and look forward to returning again.

I booked this hotel based on reviews, even though it was a bit away from the river area and I wasn't disappointed. It was resort-like - airy, subtropical plantings, wonderful pool, old Hollywood feel. It was the kind of hotel where one could happily just hang out - which I did. Many things to like - super light, comfortable room at the right temperature with every amenity needed. Bed was so comfortable and there was a pillow menu. Lovely tiled bathroom, walk-in shower with separate toilet. Plenty of good free movies and lovely room service menu. The pool was superb. Plenty of loungers, well attended. The hotel was surrounded by boutiques, a food market, restaurants and cafes and a cinema across the road.

A tiny quibble but only four coat hangers provided. For just me that wasn't enough, let alone if there were two people in the room.

The pool and the room design

The room felt alittle austere maybe moreartwork and soft furnishings needed to offset the cement

Beautiful room, friendly helpful staff, great location.

    I couldn't fault a thing

The staff are very welcoming and accommodating. Facilities are amazing and the cleanest hotel i have ever stayed at. The hotel is in a great location with lots of great shopping and restaurants in the vicinity.

Great internal decorLocation is right in the middle of one of Brisbane’s best shopping and dining precincts.

A few really noisy and disruptive children around the pool which spoilt our relaxing afternoon.I honestly don’t think this is the right venue for small children. Some were left to run loose while the parents drank. My clothes, phone and towel got quite wet with kids dive bombing. Very small children were literally crying and carrying on.

    Beautiful venue, amazing staff

One dodgy speaker in the hotel room but they fixed that!

The atmosphere and staff attentiveness was the best I have had at an Australian hotel.Lounging by the pool all day ordering cocktails and food was heaven.

Not being able to stay longer or move in permanently.

There's a reason this hotel charges the eye watering rates that it does, everything is exceptional here. From the staff uniforms right through to the little extras in the rooms (make-up remover wipes and Dyson hair dryers!), it has all been extremely well thought out. Staff have been trained meticulously and it shows, nothing is too much trouble. It was refreshing to see young people (most in their 20s-30s) working at such a high standard in the hospitality industry. Well done Calile!

The pool area is limited in size and was very crowded both days that I was there. A mezzanine level above the pool area could be something to look into if building approvals allow. That way more sunlounges and seating could be included, with access via stairs to the pool. Honestly the pool area seems to be the major draw-card for this hotel, so it would be a no-brainer to expand the seating/lounge area with access to the pool.I was disappointed in my meal at Hellinka, I was expecting great things, but the spanner crab pasta was salty and tasteless sadly.

    Pool gets very busy

    Restaurants, shower

The overcrowded pool with no available pool lounges

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location.

Not enough beds at the pool. We were there for 5 days and not once were able to secure a proper pool bed (even when arriving to the pool at 8AM in the morning). It’s quite frustrating to have to lie on the floor at a 5 star expensive hotelZ

    9AngusPosted on: 12-23-2025

Great location on James St. Easy to get around and fantastic cafes and restaurants in the area.

    9AlisonPosted on: 12-22-2025

Great location, nice decor, friendly reception staff, lovely pool.Restaurants are great.

The food service seems to be where they let themselves down. Ordered an iced latte at the pool, it was tiny and warm! 2 cubes of ice in a small plastic glass, not really what you would expect, it was terrible and massively over priced (this was after I had been brought the incorrect order before). Was charged $75 for breakfast in the room (2 plates of eggs and an ordinary coffee), no butter for the toast, no salt and pepper, no condiments at all, coffee already a bit cold. I gave the feedback and they responded very well but for a top 50 hotel, not really good a good experience.Bed was not great, lots of partner disturbance. The pool is lovely IF you can get a seat, we got out there at 8am and it was full by 9.

    Friendly staff, good location

Way too busy. Not enough space to enjoy facilities. Noisy . Door slamming . Kids yelling in corridors.
