Pros +
- Friendly and accommodating staff.
- The hotel is in a great location, close to the train station. It’s a beautiful and historic building, and the staff who assisted us were very kind and welcoming.
- Right at the central of Brisbane and yet the price is very reasonable. The staff here are very friendly. I checked in after midnight and the night staff were very nice and helpful.
Cons -
- Rooms just need a bit of renovation, things are getting old and just look a bit daggy/dirty.
- However, we had some issues with the facilities: several lights weren’t working, the fridge was leaking, and the air conditioning was quite noisy
- We were in a room that faced into the alley, so it was darker than other rooms without lights on

Location close to the train station and local Japanese restaurant - Oshin
We were in a room that faced into the alley, so it was darker than other rooms without lights on
In the heart of the city. Close to all main attractions and just across the street from central station. Comfortable room with all amenities. Hope to be back soon.
Parking was fine but if hotel is booked could be tricky But staff are superb and always willing to help
Helpful friendly and down to earth reception came down close to midnight to meet me. Thanks Helen. Hotel room was big and spacious. Has everything you need. Including TV and washing machine. Was well priced for what it was and right in the CBD so close to everything and right close to the Central Train Station where you can catch a train to the airport. And were very helpful and let me leave my bag at reception after check out.
Staff were super friendly and place was clean
Don’t know why I paid $1000 for 4 nights to be put on a stretcher in the LOUNGE ROOM after being told ,when I called prior to our stay, I would be accommodated for as we booked for 3 people. Room was owned by another lady as parcels in her name were scattered across the room with her personal items. Paint in the bathroom was peeling and all kitchen utensils were so unsanitary. Thanks Sharron for the stay (lady the parcels were addressed too)
Location was very central to restaurants and attractions
We booked 2 rooms, and both were not clean. The shower was moldy and there was general dirt around the room. The air conditioning didn't work in one of the rooms and there was rarely anyone at reception to help.
Great location. Couple of minutes walk to train station, shopping centres. Very relaxing and quiet place to stay. Hotel manager was an absolutely lovely lady Would definitely stay again.
I have stayed at the Rothbury twice previously. I love the location, and very quiet vibe.
The room was well appointed and clean. Looks from the outside are deceiving and it me be old but a grand old building. Also very quiet for being on a busy street. Close to good food and shops,
It was all very good and would recommend to anyone for a short stay in Brisbane
Convenient & central location. Room was spacious; beautiful art deco grand olde lady building with interesting history.
Foyer on 3rd had an unpleasant smell which may be pet wee.Ceiling light in bedroom & bathroom did not work; room felt damp underfoot & on couch.
Loved the location, we could walk to most things we needed within the city! The aircon was very good and efficient. The kitchen was well stocked. The apartment was comfortable and roomy. It was well cleaned except for some mould in the showers.
We were there six days including a weekend. There are no staff on the property on weekends. We were only left with one sachet of dishwashing powder and no spare bin bags, and no staff there to refill for us on our first few days. However they did refill on Monday but we had gone without for two days. The wifi was abysmal ! It was so slow we waited twenty minutes for Netflix to load and even then the movie kept glitching and stopping. You just couldn’t use it! The bathroom door handle kept falling off every time we tried to open it from the inside.
The location of the Hotel was excellent from my point of view; easy walking distance to Central Train Station and restaurants in the river walk area. Also easy to access the CBD, Roma Street Parklands and South Bank Cultural Areas; the last two either by train or foot.Particularly liked the extra space in the room with a separate lounge area to the bedroom and bathroom. Also appreciated the combined front loading washer and dryer.
We couldn't seem to adjust the temperature on the air conditioning, but it was not a major problem as the room was supplied with a portable fan, which proved effective. The front doors are locked to the general public and are accessed by an electronic device attached to the room key. We were not aware of this safety measure prior to our arrival as we had not been able to access our emails. However, it was not a problem as we were able to gain access to the foyer through another guest who was exiting the building and there is a telephone number displayed to contact staff/management.
The Rothbury is conveniently located within walking distance to Central Station & Christies Training Centre. This was extremely conveient for an out-of-town traveller who flew to Brisbane.
Location was perfect. Easy in and out to airport. Nice and close to central train station
Lacked alot of work. In shower paint was peeling off and was litterally hanging from the ceiling.Very noticeable, how the cleaners or staff of hotel have not seen and fixed is beyond my reasoning.
The hotel is period and was a pleasure to stay in. It was well appointed and very clean. You felt like you were walking into amovie set on arrival and the foyer was even better. It was convenient to the train network and a short walk to ANZAC Square and many of Brisbane's inner city attractions.
Excellent location opposite train station, short walk to Queen Street. Plenty of parking alternatives if you don't want the $60 per day insult. Beautiful, elegant old building that would hold so many stories.
Rooms needed a freshen up, minor repairs to cupboards, blown light bulbs etc, little things make a huge difference. The place felt clean, but you could tell they quickly went over it (I have a #2 haircut and there was long black hair in the bathroom)
the location
Our rom wasn't clean, there were dust on the walls. The aircon vents had a lot of dust in it. Kitchen utensils were dirty and the washing machine smells bad. Our room door had no peephole and the nightlatch was broken. On our 2nd night there was puke in front of the hotel door.
