Pros +
- Good location. Friendly staff. Clean room. It was quiet- but then it should have been, as our “outlook” was a tall brick wall about a foot away from the window.
- Beautiful property and conveniently located. Welcoming staff - probably the nicest welcome I've had at a hotel. Bed and pillows super comfy. The rooftop terrace is a really lovely place to spend some time.
- The location is amazing. Beautiful neighbourhood with lovely restaurants and cafes nearby. Easy walk to train station. Walkable or public transport to CBD
Cons -
- Bedroom was far too small for a couple with 3 cases. Only room for the bed- no chair and nowhere to put clothes apart from a few hangers on the wall. The bathroom was a squeeze. We found it extremely trying. We thought the breakfast offering was sparse. No fruit juice and no decaf tea or coffee on offer. Not worth paying for, given the numerous cafes in the neighbourhood with a more extensive selection. However the availability of non-dairy milks was welcome and the staff made sure I got a GF and DF muffin for breakfast.
- Better offerings for snacks and drinks from the butler's pantry/snack bar in the evening.
- The cozy room is very small for 2 persons with large cases. We had stayed in several hotels on our trip and this room was very cramped. Our fault by not reading description properly.

Great location.Appreciated the provision of coffee and pastries.Stay marred by exceptionally noisy guests in an adjacent bedroom (and lack of soundproofing) - I had to go knock at their door at 3 am to get them to be quiet after putting up with the noise for literally hours- and had a plane to catch the next day. Seemingly night staff were also aware of the noise issue created by these guests.

Quiet. Nice people good bed
Room small.
It’s visually pleasing but a little hard to get into as access is off a hidden lane and then the lift was out so we had to climb 6 sets of steep stairs with our bags to get access to our room.
Lift was out - very not fun climbing 3 sets of stairs to our floor
Amazing location, and clean rooms with tons of charm
Rooms were smaller and crack under door let in a good amount of light so was harder to sleep
Location
Staff. Very strict. Turned up 1hr early on a Sunday. Made me wait until exactly 3pm to enter room. Saw people arrive on the Monday and get straight into room at midday. Knocked on door at 11.05 - 5mins after check out. Got put in the underground slightly mouldy smelling room. Hmmmm
Loved that the staff were super friendly and helpful, loved that I got offered a tour on arrival and received many good local recommendations for dinner. Room was very comfortable and lovely.
The entrance for checking in was a little confusing, but I figured it out eventually.
Location could not have been better. The room was compact, but had everything we needed. Complimentary pastries every morning were an absolute highlight. Staff were excellent and very accommodating - especially Julian. So many great restaurants and bars within walking distance.
Would have liked it if the bathroom had a door separating it from the rest of the room. Small things, like a towel hook outside the shower, would have been helpful. More storage around the bathroom basin would have also been good for toilet bags, etc. Our TV didn't work during our stay, and we couldn't get any streaming services working - it turned out to be fine for us and we had a TV detox!
The location is great! The room is clean and comfortable. The staff is nice and accomodating.
The gate was too slow. It was raining and we got wet because of it.
Amazing place to stay in the city. Location is excellent. Staff members go above and beyond. Rooftop is beautiful, we spent the afternoon in the sunshine enjoying some drinks. All the little details were great, bathrobes and the beautiful bathroom. Loved the free breakfast too, pastries and fruit were lovely!
I love the history of the property--a former convent. Beautifully designed, very comfortable despite the smaller room size. Employees were very helpful and welcoming. Great restaurants and cafes nearby. A short walk to Central Station.
Nothing! Would love to stay again.
Amazing decor, cute rooftop space to relax in, rooms are stunning and staff were awesome.
Wasn’t clear that the main entry is down a dark and what looks like a dead end back lane. I arrived after dark and not knowing I was going the right way on my own was a little daunting as I head down a dark back road!
I liked the decor and aesthetic of the hotel. The beds were comfortable and the room had nice decor. There is a really cute rooftop terrace area as well which is good for breakfast. While there isn't a restaurant on-site, there is a really good Italian restaurant literally next door. The location is really good as well and, having stayed at other historical hotels, I thought the condition was very good. Check-in process was simple, there was a tour upon arrival and the Honour Bar has a decent selection of snacks, drinks & beauty products. Would stay again.
Overall the main thing I'd improve about the hotel is to have more savoury breakfast options as most of the pastries offered are sweet. It should be noted that the main entrance is also through a narrow laneway which some Uber drivers found challenging to access especially if there are cars also parked in the street and the gate can be a bit slow to open.

Poor
Charged a surcharge for using credit card, and they did not accept cash, we had a price on Booking.com but they charged us more than the booking price, I did question the staff but they said it was standard. Pictures were deceiving and had I know I would not book a room with carpet, the bedside cabinets were dusty, great location though.
Such a cute little boutique hotel very close to all of the Surry Hills shops and restaurants
Just a comment on the bathroom. The toilet was tiny and the frosted glass door was around the wrong way which meant you could see in not see out. Obvs the “glass guy” put it back to front
Location, the hotel itself and the room we stayed in
Just would have liked to have a coffee plunger and coffee in the room rather than having to have it down in the communal kitchen for morning coffee but no complaints really
