Business had closed down discovered upon arrival. Luckily booking.com had arranged an alternative hotel nearby. Crisis averted

300 metres from St Vincent Hospital n Darlinghurstwhere one of us was hospitalized for a few days.Interesting old world rooms and environment.Little fountain and leafy front garden arrangement by the entrance :)

The indifference of management to serious parking and access problems confronting guests staying in the hotel, to the extreme inconvenience of out of town guests! Obviously this is not the responsibility of the poor staff just working there who were all pleasant enough, but who were left with the lame excuse: "Oh, parking is on a first come first served basis". Four (4) in-line spots in the alleyway adjacent to the hotel is just insufficient and creates a problem in itself trying to get out of the place. They would be better off saying they have no parking at all, and trying to find an off-site solution nearby. But as noted, management and owners really just don't care. Totally at odds with any concept of "hospitality" associated with being a hotel!A welcome feature of any hotel, even if no formal dining room exists, is the availability of breakfast facilities in some form, but not at this hotel. The ground level courtyard with adjacent seating and lounge area, including toilets, would be ideal for this purpose. At the moment the area lies derelict and unused. There is a sign in the room about a food and grocery delivery service. Some holes in landing carpet (wear and tearClogged bathroom and aircon filters.Overnight droning noise from nearby outside air conditioning unit. Turns off at 7.00am.No serviceable working surface in room. Flip-out section of existing table could not be secured.Bar Fridge turned off: Noisy with vibration when running. Ridiculously expensive small selection of snacks and bottles of water.Miserable little flat Kogan TV!!! Batteries of remote depleted, signal delivered just via aerial only: no cable or Foxtel TV.Conclusion: not a modern equipped hotel, in spite of interesting boutique features.Very confusing outside signage, trying and succeeding to be cute but did not identify the place as a hotel!

    difficult parking access

The friendliness and understanding of the staff to myself and my friends was incredible, as with sore heads from the festivities of New Years Day, well looked after and welcomed into the hotel before checkin to relax and recover. Additionally, staff were hospital in holding our bags prior to check-in, even doing so for friends who weren’t staying within the complex - outstanding friendliness and helpfulness!

The only complaint was a squeaky bed, very sensitive but also very minor in the scheme of the booking. Literally the only negative of the whole stay, and again, ABSOLUTELY MINOR.

The hotel es quite and the decoration is nice.

There wasn’t a terrace and is not like the pictures. The room was really small. You need to pay for the parking and is just a line of cars so they are always asking you to move your car.

location was great, loved the vintage feel, access to tv

towels were covered in hair, mattress on the bed was uneven and was falling

    6WintersheaPosted on: 12-28-2022

I liked the room upgrade and the friendliness of the staff.

I was not happy about the broken bathroom cupboard or the people in the room above who were so noisy and banging around.

It's hard to rate this magical property without gushing. Superb, quiet location, yet close to the city - and what better way to get there than by ferry? Plus just a few steps away is the wonderful Cremorne Reserve and the beautiful Lex & Ruby Graham garden right on the shore of Mosman Bay. What bliss to have a room with an open window in summer. The shower rooms are handy to guest rooms, the Continental breakfast offers a variety of cereals and breads - and the option of eating inside or out. It's worth making the trip to Sydney just for the pleasure of staying here.

Not a criticism - but does anybody use hotel TVs these days? I never used mine, but caught up with the news on my tablet. I'm sure that's the way the market is going, and much more convenient for the customer too.

Convenient to where I had to be. Lovely old house. The windows was left open before my arrival, there wee less mosquitoes outside than there was in the room.

There was supposed to be parking, no parking was available. The desk attendant handed me a form to sign, I told her I didn't have glasses and asked if she could explain what I was signing. She muttered something about fire alarms and told me to sign on the line..I asked her abut parking and she said I could park in the back lane where there were 3 marked parking spots full or I could park at a secure car park that was some undisclosed distance away

Charming old dame with original features plus modern facilities. Beautiful common area with natural light. On main road and close to everything but quiet.

accommodation was clean and good iron/ironing board. That’s the properties only good features.

When my husband arrived he was questioned rudely regarding the booking which was in my name. Prior to making the booking I had phoned and spoken to the reception staff to explain that the booking was for him only and that he would pay for the accommodation and need a tax invoice in his name. I backed this request up with an email. Therefore I was not happy to hear how my husband was treated. Staff should be across guests requests! Neither my husband or myself will stay again due to this unnecessary rudeness he encountered. Also the noise level in the hallway from other guests was loud and made it difficult to get to sleep. Hot water in the shower took ages to come through and pressure exceeding low.
