    Cons -

    • No air con (Room 30), even though it was advertised as having air con. The day time temperature was 29 degrees and the night time 25 degrees, so hard to sleep (when we queried no air con, we were provided with 2 pedestal fans) We were told by cleaning staff that quite a few of the rooms had broken air con units. The cleaner tried to open one of the 2 sash windows in our room but it would only open 3 inches and only with a wedge to stop the window from closing shut. The 2nd window had a second glass pane over the original sash window so could not be opened. There were many cobwebs on this window between the original sash window and the glass pane. The building was evacuated at 12.40am and 2.29am, fire engines arrived, checked the fuse box and declared it a false alarm on both occasions. A cleaner told us the fire alarms had also gone off the previous morning at 3am. We checked out rather than stay for a second night and the receptionist said we could get a refund of that night due to above issues but as we booked through booking.com we would have to approach them and they would contact the hotel. Booking.com sent us several emails advising they had tried to contact the hotel but could not get a response. I rang the hotel and the duty manager said the bookings manager would ring me, that's the last I heard from the hotel.
    • Two fire alarm evacuations on first night. Absolutely no emergency evacuation notices within the room! Little hanger space and no drawers for clothes
    • Our room didn’t have AC with no external windows and was very hot. An apology or refund at checkout wasn’t forthcoming which was disappointing.

It was a great spot on Manly Beach, the rooms were clean and well appointed.

Our room didn’t have AC with no external windows and was very hot. An apology or refund at checkout wasn’t forthcoming which was disappointing.

    Perfect location

Aircon not working when we were there and they also had a false fire alarm when we were still in the room having a shower.

    5MoiraPosted on: 2-12-2026

bed was ok, breakfast granola was great and prawn mango salad was great

No airconditioning, curtains left open on 35 deg day on west facing winsdow, clumsy fan The fire alarm went off twice during the night. In the morning at breakfast the urn for tea making was cold , had to wait considerable time to get hot water for cup of tea

    4ChantalPosted on: 2-11-2026

The location of the hotel was convenient to all of Manly. There is plenty of restaurants near by and even down stairs to appease anyone's palate. The breakfast meals were cooked and prepared nicely.

The staff were less than helpful and were not friendly, joyous or happy to help. We did experience two friendly staff, however most of the staff acted like they didn't want to be there, they were less than helpful or accommodating. The cleanliness was poor, the coffee cups had stains and really need a really wash, the water in the urn was lukewarm and we had ask for hot water from the coffee machine and had to explain twice that the water wasn't hot enough to make tea. The rooms were noisy and the curtain didn't cover all of the windows, allowing the sun to stream through intently. Your staff need to improve on their customer service, friendliness and the overall cleanliness of the pub, crockery and cutlery. Staff need to learn to smile and engage with their customer.

Loved the location and the staff were soo friendly and accommodating!

    Limited choice

The non stop noise from building works and loud music disturbing sleep, air conditioning not working during high temperatures, with room windows not able to be opened. Shower flooding bathroom floor after every use causing a slip hazard.

    7BrigittePosted on: 2-9-2026

Location is perfect. Bathroom was nice, especially the shower - loved it.

No windows in our room. Additionally even though at check in we were told about the music (and I was previously aware about the nature of the venue) would be stopped at 2am, but I believe both nights it went past 2am. It would’ve been better to not have this time mentioned if it’s not going to be adhered too.

    5LauraPosted on: 2-7-2026

Fabulous location and breakfast included. But make sure you mention that you are staying at the hotel BEFORE you start ordering breakfast.

Our room had one non-opening window and the air-conditioning wasn't working. When we mentioned this on checking out, we were informed that "some of the rooms are being fixed today. So sorry about that". They knew there was a problem but still rented the room to us? Also, the large screen TVs in the court yard stayed on all night (why?). The light and colours could not be totally blocked out by the heavy curtain.

Great location on the corso in manly

The noise at night. Do not take room 35 as the gigantic tv screen from the pub reflects into the bathroom window and the bathroom door is glass so there is no way to stop the light. Also the noise was next level, dulled slightly by the free ear plugs given on arrival

    Location and breakfast

    Room was very hot.

    7PhilipPosted on: 2-2-2026

Position is great and central to enjoy Manly

Being a pub music does go on to about 3 am but you are advised this and supplied with ear plugs. Our room had an issue where the shower always flooded the whole bathroom. Room was cleaned and coffee topped up one day

    8RosaliePosted on: 2-1-2026

    We did enjoy our stay....

It was challenging to locate the reception of the hotel. It will be good to be provided with instructions or signs to follow. The bed could use some improvements. There was moderate noise up to 2am probably from next door.

    7MikePosted on: 1-31-2026

    Location

No kettle, noisey at night but that was expected. Morning breakfast for guests was just in with the rest of the public so no seating available due to an event in manly.

    6AlexanderPosted on: 1-31-2026

Great location right on the Corso. No dedicated parking but staff were helpful in working out how to deal with drop off etc and council parking. Our room looked right out over the beach, but was still reasonably quiet. The breakfast was adequate - just, so we paid for some add-on cooked breakfast

Manly is FEROCIOUSLY expensive. We chose Styene as it was less ferocious than some others. Big City CBD prices++. I guess that's what comes with a popular holiday locale. The bottom story of the hotel is "just a pub" but the rooms level nice enough and our room good.

    9MissdeleuranPosted on: 1-31-2026

We love this hotel, and a big compliment to Debbi for her outstanding service. She quickly took care of anything we asked for. Some improvements could be made when it comes to comfort and the cleaning of the balcony.

A very good breakfast menu with excellent flavors and a wide selection. If I were to mention one thing, it would be that at times some staff seemed a bit grumpy in the mornings. When guests have additional requests beyond the menu, the focus should be less on price and more on responding with something like, “Of course, I’ll fix it.” But overall, very good.

    1JessicaPosted on: 1-28-2026

    Bad

I understand that this is a pub as well as accomodation and therefore some noise is to be expected (especially on the weekends). However, on a Wednesday night there was a huge nightclub party upstairs where the music started at 9pm that was so loud it was literally rattling the walls of the hotel room I was staying in. I went downstairs to find out more information and there were no hotel staff available, only pub staff who informed me the party would be going until 2-3am. I had to relocate to another hotel in the middle of the night as the noise was so bad. I asked for a refund from the hotel but it was denied. At the very least, the hotel should advise people at the time of booking if there are events like this happening mid week so they are aware. I have stayed at the Steyne Hotel a number of times before, so I was incredibly disappointed to have had a reasonable refund request denied.

Staff helpful and courteous. Location fantastic! Beautiful breeze straight in the window

Aircon completely ineffective...needs fixing. No screens on the windows to keep bugs out. Music didn't stop till 3am....kept me awake till 3.30 with taxis/cars tooting for their passengers... but my fault as I didn't realise it was like a nightclub that night.
