    Pros +

    • Lovely people and location. And not noisy at night -i slept very well!
    • Room booked was double bunks with an ensuite. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable and the shower worked well. There were insect screens on the bedroom window but not on the bathroom/kitchen ones. Given most of the people staying here appeared to be in their 20-30s, it was very quiet in the evenings. It is also a block off the main road and 10min walk from main shopping area and 5min from the beach.
    • Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location and cost. The beach was just a short walk away, ferry to the city within walking distance, coffee, BP petrol station, take away food and small grocery shop on the corner a few metres away. Did not need to use the car at all once parked.

    Cons -

    • Small bathroom
    • The bathroom and the kitchenette are in the same room. If you want to use the toilet and the other person wants to use the kitchen, its' not good. The door between the bedroom and bathroom/kitchen is sliding with no handle or lock and didn't quite cover the doorway. The hallway and stairwell had paint peeling. Given Manly area asks a premium for accommodation, even for a hostel style place I would expect better.
    • Not an issue for us but the rooms being in an old and vintage building, the stairway to the upstairs bedroom might be an issue to some with mobility issues, bad knees, etc. as the stairway is narrow and non-standard, i.e. the steps are a bit higher than the norm these days.

The stay at the Bunkhouse was very nice and I felt very comfortable! The communication in advance also worked great. The team is very helpful and friendly. The hostel is very social and you quickly get to know people from all over the world. The hostel is very centrally located and you can quickly get to the wharf, the nearest shopping mall or another beach by bus.I highly recommend the hostel! Many thanks to the entire Bunkhouse team for a nice and relaxing stay!

    Loved the location and vibe

The bed frame was so squeaky that even if you laughed it would make noise, made it very hard to fall asleep. the bed was an okay comfort

Private rooms available for older travelers like me! Twin bunk beds nevertheless.

Would have liked a common room without a tv tbh. Tables out back in the garden are good but during my stay it rained intermittently so no place to take cover and chat.

Angus and the team took great care of us and gave us recommendations all over Manly

No air con in rooms so they were hot.Transport into touristy areas of Sydney outside of Manly took a while but knew this would be the case because of the location - nothing team can do just to be aware of when booking

What a really friendly place you have. If I ever come to Sydney again I will book with you.

Nothing really. They charged me 30 dollars to park my motorbike! the same as a car but no big deal.

We stayed here for 4 nights in a private room with its own bathroom. The facilities are all very clean and the family running the bunkhouse creates a very nice atmosphere and makes you feel very comfortable and cozy, almost like your home away from home.

In general, there was nothing in particular. As we stayed at the bunkhouse during the summer months, an AC would be great, although that is only a minor concern.

Great location, close to Manly Beach

It mentioned air conditioning in the ad, but it was just a fan.

    Convenient location; helpful owners.

The bathroom shower would greatly benefit from the presence of a soap tray.

I liked the location, very close to the beach, shops, transport. I liked my self contained room and I will go back to stay.

Lovely location, Comfortable rooms and welcoming staff. Many of the other residents were friendly and fun to talk to, plus it’s very close to a beautiful beach and 40 min ferry ride to the city. Secure lockers for personal items and locks for the door, felt very safe.

The kitchen was often packed with people cooking, so if you plan on staying longer term I’d recommend making meals for the week when you can. It can also get expensive during the holiday months so be sure to have a plan of income/saved up money since job competition can be tough.

I had a late arrival and they were very accommodating in coming to check me in. the toilet / shower was very small and hard to take care of self needs. i am unsure about the extra charge on the car park, but it seems everyone does in the area.overall I am happy with my stay.

the design or set up of the property does not allow for changes I guess, so it is what it is. I don't really mind the carpark cost, but it seems these days, everyone is charging extra for everything they can. not so happy about this.

The location and the staff were amazing. A beautiful family run business. The lady who owns/runs it went above and beyond to ensure that I got what I needed.

Close to the location I was visiting, convenience and affordability. Wasn’t able to make it due to an accident but the staff was very helpful in allowing me to rebook at a later date when I was healed up.

It was my second time at Bunkhouse. The best in hostel in Manly. Everything was perfect. All the family takes care of this place and they are always accomodating. Thanks again for hosting me.
