    Pros +

    • The air conditioning fan in the room was so loud and didn’t stop even when I turned it off. As a result I the room was hot and the noise was loud and I had a terrible sleepless night. The staff at breakfast on Sat morning were, busy unloading dishwashers and saw me but were so slow to seat me so I stood around waiting for approx 10 mins. I eventually left, checked out and had breakfast down the road. Probably won’t stay there again.
    • Loved the rooms they were lovely and clean and modern and great location but not many nice resturants close, just lots of pubs and takeaways...
    • The staff were great, friendly vert helpful.Breakfast was disaster with long waiy, cold food due to wait.Would stay again but avoid the food servicd

    Cons -

    • As above.
    • Very noisy room, it sounded like the window was open, staff didnt take dishes out of the room or replenish the tea and when we aksed for more it was only 2 tea bags...not really enough for 2 people if you have a cup at night & morning...Breakfast food was very dissapointing eggs bene came out stone cold with untoasted muffin...
    • Better organization with ordering and delivery of food.Limited breakfast menu.Would not order again as package

The staff were nice and helpful. The facilities were a modern touch to an old historic facade that suited the character of the building. The room was well planned and designed. The restaurants and cafe within the Port House Hotel were delightful.

Good value-for-money. Modern and fresh. Big room. Perfectly centrally located

The hotel has let some modern interior architect get a long leash to make the hotel a high tech modern hotel which to big parts include a ipad to control A/C, the electrical curtain etc. Also the light bottons were somewhat "technical" flat and not as easily controlled. However, these issues are no big issues so I would love to stay at the hotel again if I visit Sydney

Everything! We were looked after by warm amd inviting staff who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, special and enjoyable. The complimentary bottle of wine and greeting card was so lovely for our wedding anniversary. Location, excellent! Food, coffee and pastries - delicious! We will be back.

    Good

The breakfast menu. You could choose only one thing, next to a very small bowl of fruits and a juice. If you wished a capuccino you had to pay for it. For a 5 stars hotel, it is a bit strange. And the staff was a bit rude.

Location and design. Finishings were nice and very comfortable.

The toilet smelt and the water pressure with the shower wasn’t great.

    10JohnPosted on: 1-19-2026

I did not have time for the breakfast but the hotel was amazing! The combination of the renovation of the historic building with a thoroughly modern luxury hotel.

    Some features were not open.

    Nice large rooms, bathrooms great

The close proximity of the city’s fire station with sirens every hour on the hour , external windows extremely dirt due to the building design

    10JasonPosted on: 1-11-2026

We loved the overall vibe and decor of the room we were in (simple but elegant and not too over the top). Customer service was excellent and facilities were easy to get to.

Located near several train stations within walking distance of the hotel.Very modern & the staff most helpful.Coffee shop on site.Room service enabled us to have a night cap as the bar was closed.

    Bar closed early.

Location was perfect, could walk to the opera house. Near bus and train routes.Hotel was very modern - glass doors in toilet all open plan. Not for me.Prefer something a little less like every modern hotel. I thought the exterior was so nice the rooms would have more character. But they didnt.

Breakfast was tasty but it was an a la carte breakfast but very limited and couldn't change or request anything even a little different..

    10KimPosted on: 1-8-2026

Everything was exactly what we could hope for. Stunning, clean and perfect location to get to tourist attractions. The staff were all lovely and helpful

    9JaninePosted on: 1-7-2026

Location was great walking distance to public transport shopping and restaurants.

Room could be cleaned better especially under the beds.

    10LisaPosted on: 1-6-2026

The location and the size of the hotel it felt small / personal and friendly

    10JaihahnPosted on: 12-14-2025

The wheelchair access and facilities were excellent The bathroom is very well designed for less mobile people. My companion uses a walker and found it very easy to move around the room and the bathroom. We stayed in room 103.

This is a small problem and I am nit picking, but it would have been nice if the TV swung all the way around the corner so both occupants could watch TV in bed. Or it might have been we didn't move it properly.

Everything is new and high-tech, great Appelles toiletries, most of the staff are lovely.

The male staff member on reception duty on Thursday evening 2nd October was unpleasant, I phoned reception around 11pm to extend my stay by one more night, and he kept on saying "Do you understand?" which was impolite and unnecessary.

    5MatthewPosted on: 12-3-2025

The reception team were the highlight. First class.

I arrived at 4.30 on Sunday to find that the eating facilities are closed on Sundays. Disappointing ... ok I'll have a refreshment st the bar? No, sorry ... the bar closed at 4pm. Ok ... I'll make a coffee in my room. Oops ... no milk in the fridge.

Nice modern design, easy to find

Cleaning staff didn’t replace all our towels only changed one over and we found it difficult to work out how to contact house keeping. There was dust on the bedside tables and the room felt a bit stuffy with lack of air flow
