Pros +
- location was OK, I guess
- location and size of room
- The location was good, that's about it. The entry for the hotel is right outside the light rail stop, which was handy.
Cons -
- This hotel should not be listed as 4 stars. It's in the same building as a Chinese restaurant and made the hallways smell (even on the 8th floor). The hotel room itself is dirty and the bathroom smelled like mildew. The dishes provided had food caked on
- the lobby is terrible
- Number 1: the staff. When I went to check in, I provided the receptionist with a VALID ID on my phone (a large and very clear photo that shows ALL of the security markings easily. The girl didn't have any idea what the ID even was and flat out said, "we don't accept that". It was a VALID PROOF OF AGE CARD FROM ANOTHER STATE. The receptionist stated that I MUST have physical ID. But "the app" is also acceptable. Which app? A total contradiction! I do not carry physical ID for security and privacy purposes and I most certainly do NOT use apps. But hey, physical ID only as long as you have an app with your ID on it LOL. Even if it doesn't qualify for a single point on any kind of official application process LOL.The room: The bed was very uncomfortable and the room I was put in was very noisy from the light rail downstairs. It was also a long and skinny room where the TV was placed in front of a couch nowhere near the bed and facing the opposite way to the bed. This is the FIRST hotel I have ever seen with this configuration. The only way to watch said TV was to sit on the couch which literally stuffed up my back within 15 minutes! An hour's worth of pain free TV before bed isn't too much to ask is it? The air-con was a joke. It wasn't even on when I arrived in the room and it was freezing. It was so prehistoric that there was no temperature reading, just a couple of tiny buttons and a dial. I thought it was on so I turned the dial to full heat and it did nothing. It turned out that you needed to press 1 of the tiny buttons to turn the thing on, which I couldn't see until I put on my glasses. The good old shower in the bath was equally as bad. I'm not even a large bloke and I couldn't turn around in this thing without hitting my elbows on the dispensers. On check-out I just left the key on the counter and walked out. The 2 staff at reception didn't even acknowledge my presence!

Staff were very polite and helpful. They did what they could to assist with our room issues, but they can't control the lack of maintenance. The bathrooms and bedrooms were very clean. Location was perfect and right next to light rail stop and Chinatown.
Air-conditioning in the main area of 2 bedroom apart was broken so was very warm and stuffy inside. When we opened the balcony doors for fresh air, there was a loud screaming air con unit of the building next door. The lounge in the room was very small for a 2br apartment and lounge was disgustingly dirty.
Great location right next to a light rail station. Very easy to get to the opera house and other locations around Sydney
Central location
Aircon in room didn’t work have called to ask staff twice to email tax invoice still yet to receive
Location was good in China town.
No house keeping service. Weird Strong smell in lobby area. Room was noisy at night.
Location is great, room was clean.
The corridors smelt like microwaved fish, and the elevators are rickety as, they sound and feel like they need maintenance straight away - considered taking the stairs but I was lazy. Reception was lackadaisical - I had to wait for the only staff member on to finish their smoke outside before I could check in. Security guard didn't say a word or attempt to communicate - he just stood there and filled out his timesheet with no attempt to notify the receptionist. Cheap hotel if you're only going for a quick layover.
Location
Didn’t get clean towels on request after the second night and no cream was in both of the bottles in both bathrooms.
Central location and very close to the light rail train. Fantastic food all within 5-10 min walking distance and best value for money.
The location - right outside of Chinatown tram station and walking distance to Central Station. It’s very convenient to get to anywhere. Staffs are really friendly and accommodating. Room is big enough to fit 4 adults with 8 luggages.
Rooms are slightly dated. Housekeeping needs improvement. Soundproofing is rather bad - able to hear other guest and can be really noisy and disturbing if your room is facing the tram station side as the other kids out there party all night.
Location is amazing great staff clean and modern rooms comfy bed even the sofa bed was good
They had some kind of drilling fir 2 days kind of annoying but everything thing else was good
It was right smack in Chinatown. It's about an 8 minute walk from Central station. The tram station was just below the hotel and everything was really convenient to get to like Haymarket and Paddy'smarket. The Catholic Church, St. Peter Julian was just next door to the hotel. We liked the BBQ pork rice just opposite the Starbucks. They were showing Annie the Musical down the road at Capitol Theatre. We also liked that they had a small kitchenette to microwave food or even cook if you wanted to.
There was no gym facility.
Stay away unless you're desperate
This place is nothing like the photos. The rooms are old and run down. The worst part was the shower—it didn’t keep any water in, even with the curtain closed, so the whole bathroom floor would get soaked. We called to complain, and the staff just said, “All the rooms are the same, we can’t do anything.” Seriously? From a big chain like Mantra, that’s just disappointing. Oh, and the whole building constantly smells like hot pot. The aircon barely worked. Beds were uncomfortable. Easily the worst stay we’ve had in the city.
Location
It was filthy. Stained carpets, furniture and bedding. Very strong cooking smells permeating throughout. Did not in any way reflect the photos advertising the property
Room was spacious and clean location was perfect for everything we wanted to do in the City
Location was excellent, lovely staff, had a balcony and windows in two different parts of apartment (lounge and bedroom)
Small room, tiny kitchen, v loud on Friday/saturday night
The location was great. Very convenient to the harbour, trains and markets
The bathroom was very date and needs a nice update.
Close to trams, close to theatre and great food options
Alot of street noise and small bed
Location was great the rooms were neat and clean
The sofa beds weren’t made with we arrive and said there was no one to make them so they went up sheets and we did it ourselves. We weren’t given any pillows or blankets. Bond for one night per room was $200 which I thought was quite excessive. As we booked 2 rooms for group of 6 I had $400 taken from my account. I understand it is just on ‘hold’ but it is still log back in my account after checking out 12 hours ago.
