    Cons -

    • No I really couldn't have asked for any better service especially considering my circumstances.
    • The stairs were a bit of a challenge. Also--it would have been nice to have a small refrigerator and microwave in our room.
    • Not child-friendly. No kids menu in restaurant and they charge full price for breakfast for small kids

We loved that the hotel was so close to the pier. We arrived via a Holland America cruise ship so walking to the hotel was easy. In addition, we walked a great deal following a tour book we had and it's location made things easy.

The stairs were a bit of a challenge. Also--it would have been nice to have a small refrigerator and microwave in our room.

    Great location in historic building.

Room 233, very poor lighting; stuffy, had to open window in the middle of winter; no nightstand tables. Food at dinner was mediocre.

Hotel has an evocative atmosphere. The beds and pillows were awesome.

Didn't love that our view was on to a construction site.

    7TomasPosted on: 12-15-2025

We liked that during breakfast eggs and scrambled eggs were freshly prepared in front of guests, according to individual requests.

Perhaps because the hotel is located in an old, historic building and furnished in a traditional style, the room we stayed in felt very uncomfortable and not suitable even for one night. The window faced what was described as an inner courtyard, but in reality it looked more like a view directly onto a nearby wall, which made the room feel dark and unwelcoming.Considering that the hotel was almost empty, it was surprising that guests were still accommodated in the least pleasant rooms. We visit Rotterdam frequently, and for this price it is possible to find many much more comfortable and welcoming hotels, even very close by.

    Restaurant was great

No slippers in the room while floor was cold, and reception said they did not gave them

Free upgrade room, very large room, friendly and competent staff, good service, excellent breakfast.

    Nothing, it was all great.

    9CarloPosted on: 10-7-2025

Spent a little more money to upgrade to a room at the end of the building facing the river and it was absolutely beautiful! We could see down the length of the river, as well as see the city on both sides. We even had a little balcony! The room was wonderfully themed with big ship's lights hanging from the ceiling and every table looked like a steamer trunk.

    Nothing I can think of

Very comfortable bed, good shower, spacious room. Close to cruise terminal and metro trains.

    Tea bag selection

Great location. Comfortable room. Friendly staff. Awesome history and decor

    1. It'a a lovely hotel, in a very nice location, very handy to trams and water taxis. 2. The building is historic and very interesting. Do take the time to explore, especially the lovely staircase.3. The staff made an excellent recovery from an initial failure to takes steps they had been notified of, and agreed to, at booking time. 4. They were mostly all young and very eager.

    1. There are stairs from the street and no other entrance visible, so with bags, one has to go in to request staff assistance, leaving one's bags unattended on the street.2. There was a huge construction site just outside my window, which looked to be far from finished. Luckily for me, was quiet, perhaps because it was a weekend. It could be very unpleasant to be in that room when the site was busy.3. The dining room poses several hazards that could be remedied, one of which is that the dinning room has a raised section, with an almost invisible step. Very easy to be distracted and fall. I had thought that when I first approached that area, and witnessed that outcome when a guest from the next table actually did fall. A contrasting strip would go a long way to resolving this issue.4. Perhaps it was my choice of main dishes, but they did not get above the ok level, when one might have expected high quality with lots of flavor. Boring was the best I could give the mains.5. The desserts, on the other hand were outstanding, delicious, attractive and innovative.

Lovely, full of history. Delicious breakfast in a unique setting. We were able to walk across the street to get on our ship. And it was very close to local transport into the city. I would stay here again.

    10SjoukjePosted on: 8-28-2025

The hotel is characterful historical place, not to be compared with modern high rises around the building. Rooms are very nice, spacious, modern and the bed sleeps very well. Personnel helpful and friendly. When we will come back to Rotterdam, this will be our hotel again. You can take water taxis as a way of transport into the city!

    8DebbiePosted on: 8-6-2025

Historical building, comfortable bed, great front desk staff, high ceilings, quiet, great restaurant.

Not a full shower door, no convenience to snacks, small concessions.

    10KarinPosted on: 8-6-2025

location is the best. the views are incredible as well. be the room is spacious. the bed is great

it is a little hard to access if you are having mobility issues.

    10GeorgePosted on: 8-5-2025

The hotel was conveniently located next to the cruise terminal. It also had a fully staffed kitchen that served meals throughout the day and they were excellent choices as well. The personnel at the hotel & restaurant were super friendly, helpful and extraordinary in their desire to please the customers. The WIFI was fast. The river views from the room were exceptional. The decor of the hotel was historical as well as modern. An interesting but balanced mix. It's worth the experience. We would stay here again if in Rotterdam.

    Have nothing negative to report.

Everything. Comfort, the shower, the ambience. The restaurant.

Pillows were a bit dodgy, our only issue
