About
Welcome to this palace that is your home. Here, where history stays for tomorrow, we do everything we can to honor your preference, and turn your dreams into an unforgettable journey. STORYTELLING Sitting at his dispatch table, in dim light so as not to completely wake up reality and time, is the Governor over the centuries that have passed and the centuries to come. Always with the Torre de Belém in sight, opening the way for MAAT's new currents. With the pose of who is promptly waiting for someone, his imponent figure is clad in a cobalt blue jacket from which the cuffs and collars, literally immaculate, metaphorically free, escape. Over the collars hangs a smiling face. With the humility of someone who forgets the ornaments that weigh on his chest - which make him live slightly leaning forward; with the curiosity for the future and the unknown of every second and centimeter of the world to be explored - and makes him live leaning significantly forward. It's this smile that announces what he's going to say as soon as he approaches a guest: - What an honor to have you in my home, which is also yours. And you've come at just the right time. This space of ours, where history stays for the future, is perfect for sharing an adventure. It happened to me just yesterday. Or will it happen tomorrow? But first, let's have a gin with pink Indian pepper in the garden's tranquility, as I know you like, while they prepare our sushi, which is even fresher than in the Land of the Rising Sun. Built in the former home of the Governor of the Belém Tower, exquisitely restored over Roman remains, probably dating from the 1st to 5th centuries, Palácio do Governador - Lisbon Hotel & Spa is a place of all times. But this place is more than just a hotel, it is a legacy of our history that is preparing for a new stage in the future, inviting you to experience a unique present. Honoring you. FACTS Palácio do Governador – Lisbon Hotel & SPA has 60 rooms, all different, next to the river, in the historic center of Belém, in one of the most beautiful and emblematic areas of the capital. Surrounded by national historical monuments, it's the natural choice for those who want to be in Lisbon, close to everything, from culture to leisure and far enough away to feel tranquility. The Belém Tower is just a few steps away. The hotel has two outdoor pools - one for adults and one for children, an area with bali beds and a poolside bar that supports the main bar. Kan.Jo Bar & Restaurant - Kan.Jō is all about energy, sharing and intensity. Inspired by the communal kitchens of Asia, it combines street food, tradition, wok cooking and adventure into a vibrant and accessible experience. The food is made to share, the atmosphere to enjoy. Kan.Jō is Asia in a social setting. Type of cuisine/food: Pan-Asian Sala Bartolomeu - Breakfast room and function room for groups/events.. For those seeking rejuvenation, Wellness Hub Belém is a 1200 sqm retreat with treatments aimed at promoting relaxation and revitalization. Guests and visitors can indulge in massages, facials, and therapies that combine premium products and skilled techniques, ensuring a tranquil escape from everyday stresses. Unwind with amenities such as: indoor pool with two waterfalls, caribbean shower storm, ice fountain, turkish bath, sauna, relaxation area and gym. Palácio do Governador - Lisbon Hotel & Spa is member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World™ (SLH), the world's most desirable community of independent travelers and independent hotels. Pros +
- Cosy quite and charming, the staff are helpful and friendly
- gorgeous! lovely tile and ceramic objects in the interior spaces
- The staff was extremely welcoming and professional throughout our entire stay. Water and cookies when checked out was the final detail that made us say wow such great hospitality. The design, art and over all style feels luxurious but not over the top. Loved the navy and gold throughout. I also appreciated the breakfast which was a small buffet but had a made to order menu as well. The eggs Benedict was one of the best I’ve ever had and I’m not a youngster so this says a lot ;)
Cons -
- The location was far from the center. Several things fell short of 5-star standards: we requested twin beds twice but got a double bed, the breakfast was below average, and the bed leather had many scratches. The staff were friendly but not very professional. They weighed our suitcase and said it was 10kg overweight, but it wasn’t when we checked at the airport.
- the food situation seemed to take a long time, my room service was comped due to it taking an hour after ordering and then not being able to get what i wanted after the delay.
- I paid for a room with a view but that view also came with a train track and the noise that came along with it.

The place and the location are lovely and a huge relief from the pressure of the old city. Food etc expensive but lots of places nearby to eat. Great pool and a really fun building design
It had a nice atmosphere & the staff were very pleasant.
The spa closes much too early at 8 pm. Usually when I stay at hotels with a spa, I use the spa in the evening. Most of the higher end hotels I stay at have spas open until at least 10 pm or sometimes midnight. It was disappointing to not be able to use the spa after my appointments for the day.
Staff, services, facilities, breakfast quality, many nice areas for business meetings.
nothing but the gym should be improved with more equipments.
Beautiful location, close to where we went out for night, nice pool area, staff were friendly. Quiet room.
It wasn’t clear on the booking that the spa was extra charge, I thought it was included. I booked because of the spa but we didn’t end up using it because 40 euros seemed like a lot for probably an hour of use. It also shows on booking.com a q&a where it says the spa was included. My only grievance with the stay.
Beautiful and unique place, great location, clean and great service.
Everything was great, impecable rooms. The breakfast was okay, but we kind of expected it to be more.
Beautiful decorations and tiles. Staff at reception were very kind and helpful.
AC didn’t work, breakfast service extremely slow.
The hotel is beautiful, well located and full of charm, with a unique atmosphere that combines history and modern comfort. The staff was extremely kind and attentive, making our stay very special. The spa and pool area were perfect for relaxing after exploring Lisbon. Breakfast was delicious and with great variety
Nothing to point out — everything exceeded our expectations
The locale, near my appointment, and the beauty of the historic mansion with updated amenities.
Everything was excellent.
The hotel has a lot of charm and we felt very welcomed here. There are some really nice design touches that make the place feel classy and sophisticated. The spa is really great here - has a very old world, classic feel to it although the facilities themselves are completely modern and work well. This is the first sauna experience I had in Portugal where the temperature was actually correct because it was designed properly. The location is fine if you don’t mind being out of the city and want to have a more chilled experience or see the museums. But it is around a 15/20 min car ride to the city so you need to be aware of that.
The property was beautiful and very well-kept. The pool was very nice and the beds were very comfortable.
The staff was attentive. Above and beyond does not adequately describe this hotel's staff, from check-in, wait staff, and room staff. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. The history of the site of this hotel in Belem is fascinating and interesting. A must stay and experience for yourself. The breakfast choices were varied and flavorful. I hope to be able to stay here again the next time I am in Lisboa.
There is nothing I didn't like about this hotel.
Staff was helpful and prompt.Princess Suite was big and comfortable.Hotel is amazing!Spa staff was great, professional, and polite.Pools are wonderful.
Internet (WiFi) is intermittent in some locations.Breakfast lacks variety and some foods are not fresh. If it was a typical "German" breakfast then the hotel would be near perfect.
Wonderful staff-beautiful hotel-good location!
How conveniently located hotel is and love the indoor and outdoor pool, plus parking.
The room was very nice, breakfast was divine and the staff was very friendly. We wanted to schedule a tour and Ines went above and beyond to help us.
We had to pay extra (20 Euros) to use the indoor pool
It’s a beautiful place close to where the conference was. It was also very quiet at night. I have to say the breakfast was amazing and the staff superb. Lovely and clean pool as well!
Great location. Helpful staff and beautiful accommodation. Love the restaurant in the hotel and the breakfast was amazing!
Nothing. It was absolutely perfect!
