Hotel Ilbertz

Clean and spacious room. Big space with a couch and small fridge. The staff were very nice and friendly. Very convenient location. U-bahn stop is right across the street. 5 min from the S-Bahn Messe Station. It's walking distance even from the cathedral.

The wall was kind of thin. We could hear the noise from the room next door.

Nice location, friendly stuff, very quiet in the room even though close to road works, ability to reserve a parking spot is nice. Wifi worked well. You better be a great driver otherwise getting in and out of parking spot will be a big challenge, if you have a bigger car.

The bed is so hard and pillows are shapeless, didn't have a nice sleep unfortunately. No hands soap and the radiator in the bathroom was dusty.

The room was quite small, with a single bed (likely my oversight when booking). The shower box felt cramped, breakfast was average and the gym was very limited. Overall, it’s more of a practical choice for work rather than a place to enjoy the facilities.

Nice and very clean rooms. Very good location if you want to be on that side of town, but also not far if you wanna go to the center.

Room wise, the pillows were uncomfortable in my opinion. So light that you felt you were just sleeping on the bed without a pillow, which was surprising because the bed itself was very comfortable.Also, I had planned my day accordingly so I could leave my luggage in the hotel (a basic amenity in most places I have traveled to) and pick it up around 6 pm, when I booked my return train. Being next to the station, this was very convenient for my planning, so I wouldn't have to worry about it. Apparently 6 pm was too late, which leaves either the option of paying for a locker in the station, or having to stay near the city center so I can pick it up at an earlier time. Obviously no hotel is obliged to do this, but as long as you ask for a reasonable time (which to me at least, 6 was reasonable), this is something I have come to expect from most places I have stayed in, so it left me with a "bitter aftertaste" of my stay.

Location, location. location and friendly staff.

The hotel is old and could use updating. We typically like hotel breakfasts, but the breakfast buffet here was significantly over priced compared to 20+ hotels we've stayed in since April. There was no kettle in the room so we had to buy one to have coffee/tea in our room.

The hotel is immaculate. Nice room. Very good location within walking distance to the cathedral. Great hotel staff.

Parking is tight in the garage and can only accommodate 5 or 6 cars.

The staff was great, the room was clean, the bathroom too was clean. The breakfast was absolutely satisfying. Plenty of decent pubs and restaurants within a fair walking distance.Massive win that even after returning to the hotel around 2 at night, it was absolutely no problem to request a late checkout for the next day, despite it being so late at night already. I can most definitely recommend this place.Sidenote; when you first arrive at the hotel, you might think that, based on the exterior, it might not be really thát good. Well, please don't let that influence your choice too much, we were absolutely blown away by how decent this place is.

We struggled figuring out the aircon/heating in the room. That was literally the only thing. Didn't feel like going to the reception for that as it was already very late at night, and we were simply very tired. I'm sure staff would be more than willing to help out with that!

The room is comfortable, location is near the train station and the Lanxess Arena. A lot of foodspots to choose from.

The hotels location was excellent as I was attending an event at Koln Messe, so good commute. The price was very reasonable and they had a good selection for breakfast. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable. Good WIFI that was easy to access and overall a lovely hotel to stay at for a short stay in Cologne. Vending machine at reception for water, soft drinks and snacks.

The hotels rooms décor was a little dated, but functional, they could do with providing USB charge sockets in the rooms and like most German Hotels they do not offer tea or coffee in the room, which as a frequent traveller and arriving late, are a nice to have in a room, and welcomed to be able to make drink after a day of travelling... If not maybe a coffee machine downstairs in the lobby ??

Old hotel

The hotel was generally good. The beds were comfortable, and the heating was sufficient. It was a 20-minute walk to Cologne Cathedral. Other places to visit were also easily reachable on foot. Getting from the airport to the hotel was also easy.

The lack of slippers was inconvenient. After walking all day, it was uncomfortable to walk around the room in boots again. There was also no toothbrush or toothpaste. Additionally, not having a kettle was a bit disappointing on cold days.

- serviceminded 10/10 staff . Always going the extra mile , always with a smile . Other hotels could learn from them . The hotel isn't the most luxurious , but they really have understand what counts ( don't get me wrong , it has all you need and rooms are nice )- No isn't an option at the staff - would I stay there again ? Not a seconds of doubt :) :) :) :) :)
