Location and cleaningness

Communication, service, attitude of the owner, absence of first aid kid which was crucial.

Perfect location walking distance to major touristic sites.

IT was on the older side of decoration and appliances and the room odour is making us allergic.

Lovely place, very well located for the old town. Lovely people. Great bathroom and shower.

Good location

No staff onsite,reception always closed and in darkness.No heating switched on the night of arrival so was freezing.Room did not match the pictures on booking.com.No basic coffee facilities.checked out early,well left the key on reception desk as no one there and booked into the Maratim.

The central location is convenient, and the staff we spoke with the next day acknowledged that the situation we experienced was unacceptable. We also found a much better hotel less than 5 minutes away, at a lower price — practical when you are forced to leave in the middle of the night.

Our room was not cleaned when we arrived, and the electrical outlets were in poor condition. That night, the hotel was extremely noisy, with children running and people shouting in the hallways, doors slamming, and repeated attempts to enter our room. A man even threatened my partner. There was no staff at reception after 6 PM to handle the situation, leaving us completely alone. We called the police, who were mistakenly dispatched to the wrong address; when they called us back, they confirmed we should call again if the disturbance resumed. Feeling unsafe and fearing another incident, we left just before midnight and booked another hotel for the remaining three nights at our own expense. The next day, the staff on duty admitted that the behaviour of the three rooms involved was unacceptable and that those guests were asked to leave. However, when we later requested a refund in writing via Booking, the management denied the facts and even invented claims about us to discredit our report.

A little bit of noise outside but you get used to it and your in a central location so it’s expected

The location was good but it was impossible to get my car anywhere near to unload my cases; I'm disabled and it was extremely difficult to manoeuvre 2 suitcases for almost a kilometre over cobblestones from the nearest car park.

When we arrived, a surcharge of £15 per night was demanded because two people were using one of the hotel rooms. This was after we had previously had email contact to clarify this. The hotel photos showed a dining room for breakfast but no breakfast was available. All bedrooms were upstairs, accessed by a very narrow staircase which was extremely difficult to manage with even one suitcase. There was no offer of help even though the receptionist was very aware that I am disabled.The distance from the car park to the hotel was not mentioned in the information package and would challenge most disabled visitors.

The view of the plaza was great and it was close to several restaurants and within walking distance to several spots.

We arrived a few minutes after 6pm so the office to check-in was closed. We did get information about a lock box with directions and the key to our 3 Room Apartment B. The directions to our apartment were walking directions not driving directions. We drove around looking for some outdoor parking because we had a van. I called to ask where outdoor parking was and I was told to look it up online. The 3 Bedroom Apartment had 1 fan for the 3 bedrooms.

Location and parking wasn’t an issue, very close to main city area

Room and apartment block is a little dated if you don’t like that, but friendly and helpful staff, very clean and excellent location

The location was perfect

We wasn't put in the building that is shown on this site, they had apartments in other buildings. It was nothing like the pictures. The bathroom was tiny with broken tiles,no lock on the door, not very well cleaned. One bed had stained sheets. No kitchen, was a kettle fridge and toaster in the hallway.

I had a great stay at this hotel. The room had a beautiful view of the Rhine and was spacious enough. The bathroom was newly renovated and very clean. The receptionist was very friendly. I had a heavy suitcase, but the porter kindly carried it to the room. The location is also convenient. I recommend this hotel.

It would have been great if the room had a kettle and a fridge.

Excellent location just steps away from restaurants, shops, etc. Room was very spacious and comfortably fit my family of 5. Would absolutely recommend and would definitely stay here again.

This is a very cute hotel directly on the Rhine waterfront. It's a great location for those who plan to enjoy the spring/summer nightlife as the hotel is in near some of the most lively squares! I would not recommend this hotel for those who want to go to bed prior to 1am-2am as the noise on the street is intense and without A/C the windows need to stay open when its warm. For those who wish to partake the nightlife, this is a great choice! The noise is probably not a problem in the winter months with the windows closed. The hotel stairs are steep and antique, so don't drink past the point...or get a 1st floor room if there are any...

A/C in the room would be nice, but I knew this problem going in.

The location was close to the train and Cologne Cathedral. You only need to walk a few steps to the restaurants and main square. The beds were comfortable, the layout a bit odd, as one bed is in the main living area. We were only there long enough to sleep, so it was fine.

We were given directions to the wrong place, which was inconvenient, considering the dragging of bags a bit out of the way and in circles. The climb up the stairwell was brutal, bring next to nothing with you.

Excellent location, comfortable beds and very friendly hosts.

Limited hot water (60 seconds) and floors in one bedroom and bathroom not in great shape
