Hotel Sandmanns am Dom

Charming room decor, friendly helpful staff, and great location. Definitely a bargain in my opinion. Would stay there again ... when we go back. Excellent place to stay if traveling by train.

No parking. Had to park in public parking garage that was five blocks away; not convenient.

Our room was spacious and it's in a great location.

Extra sheets and pillows would have been appreciated.

Really liked the Africa theme of the hotel and the super friendly staff.

The gentleman at check-in was friendly and helpful. He personally carried our luggage to the room. The hotel is centrally located, clean, and comfortable.

The only drawback was the lack of an elevator

Besides it’s location in the center of Cologne, I liked the focusing of the decorations inside the hotel for sand and dessert. In addition, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Thank you for it.

Clean and cosy room with comfortable bed.Heating and hot water work perfectly. Staff with a smiley face.I would stay again.

Breakfast was great. The hotel manager/owner was very helpful. He served coffee and made sure we got everything we needed.

The lack of an elevator. Although, the manager did carry our bags up. .And yes, I understand that this is an older building in a historic part of town and stairs are typical.

Very good location and a lovely quiet hotel. The owner is incredibly friendly and helpful. You have a key for the front door so you can come and go as you please. The room was comfy - the entire hotel is sand-themed with floors named after deserts, and the decor is nice and a little old-fashioned (in a good way, though this is subjective). It’s also really close to the train station and the cathedral.

This didn’t affect me personally, but there is no lift so accessibility may be a concern for some

Check in and check out were quick and efficient. Location was wonderful, quick access to the train station and close to the Cathedral and Christmas Markets. Room was suitable to our needs, nothing fancy, comfortable bed, good water pressure in shower, clean facility.

No elevator, no space to open big suitcase, need to unplug kettle for refill every time, would be good to have lighting near mirror n entrance.

Warning to all not being able to climb stairs- definitely not for you. No elevators, as owners rightfully put in description, stairs are real and each floor is about 20 steps up. But I found people rely more on comments, so- If you are fit and don't mind- you are ok.I would have appreciated a mini fridge.No AC, but Germany in general is a cool country.

The location was excellent. You can’t get any better in my opinion.2mins walk to Central Station and the Cathedral.The 2 members of staff that met us upon arrival were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay.

There was nothing not to like about this property. If you are looking for a clean, central friendly hotel, then look no further.

Great breakfasts.Cheerful staff. Great location close to railway station, Cathederal and river.Well equipped and comfortable. Would happily stay there again.

My husband and I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. We came in town for the Christmas markets and this one is located right by the market at the cathedral. Its on a side street so its very quiet even with the markets going on. It an easy walk from the train station. The staff was FANTASTIC! The room was much bigger than I expected.

The only thing we didn't like was the wifi. You receive a username and password, but you have to constantly keep logging in. Even with that we would stay at this hotel again

The beds are nice and soft, the room is well insulated so you barely hear other guests and the street noise is reduced significantly.Our room was dessert themed, which didn't fit the Christmas spirit but it was something nice that sets appart this hotel from many others.The hotel also has an awesome location near the Cathedral, meaning you are close to most of the Christmas markets and also very near to the train station.

You can hear a bit of street noise, though it is pretty soft.Upon check-in you also get 3 keys, to enter the building, corridor and room, which seems a bit outdated.

The bedrooms were big and comfortable. Location is very close to the train station and the Cologne Cathedral. The staff were very friendly and helpful and accommodated our request for early check-in.

Cute boutique hotel steps from the cathedral and train station. Charming rooms decorated in a North African theme. Nice touches like a nightlight and toothbrushing timer :o) They were kind enough to give me an extra blanket and pillow although the desk clerk made clear it was an enormous imposition.

I reserved a room with a queen bed but really it was two singles pushed together, with a large gap between them. Not the same thing. :o/ There was a lot of someone’s hair on the mattresses. :0 Not really what we want to see.

Good location, helpful staff. Room was basic but clean and more than adequate. Breakfast was good and reasonably priced

Three fights of stairs to our room (3.2), OK for us (early 70s) but might be an issues for the less fit/infirm/older person. This was, however, clear at booking stage so an observation not a complaint
