Hotel am Chlodwigplatz

Great location near public transport, cute and clean with a nice cafe on the ground floor. Staff was very kind to help me with my luggage, as there is no elevator. The room was clean, very small but had everything I needed.

The wifi wasn’t working most of the time. This was my only real issue with staying here.

nice location. I liked the email I received prior to my stay clarifying the conditions in the hotel. the room had all I needed for my stay during a business trip.

the noise from outside got through the windows. I would also appreciate kettle and coffee.

Single bed rooms have really small beds which are also very uncomfortable. Also very small bathrooms and no space to in the room to leave your bags etc.A desk with a normal chair is missing but then again the room is so small there isnt any space for it. All in all the cleaningness was solid - could be better, overall price way to expensive for what it has to offer, but since it is a fair city and we attended for a fair all of the hotels are overpriced leaving us with no better choice. Comparing to some other prices in the same period, Chlodwigplatz hotel price is actually among cheaper ones. Another comment on the reception: would be nice if it would work for majority of the day not just half of it…

Location, friendliness of staff who really went out of their way to make things easy and respond to any requests, ease of access. Very helpful place for those in town for a few days and need somewhere simple to have a base.

Just access to coffee in the morning would have been good.

The coffee maker is downstairs, but it was no bother at all.We did not think that the room was loud and we enjoyed the stay throughly. The lady welcoming us was very kind and we felt welcomed immediatly. The rooms themselves were great and the Wifi was strong. We were invited to an event directly and felt very warmly appreciated from the start.

Something that cannot be changed, unfortunatly, is that the stairs are quite hard to walk for elderly/less mobile people. Please keep that in mind.

Hard to criticise the place.

The hotel has a very charming feel. It's an old period building but the rooms have been done up to look clean and contemporary. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It's also in a great neighborhood - I only had to stroll down the street to find great places to eat.

It can be noisy in the evening as it's situated on a crossroads in a busy neighbourhood, but the hotel provide ear plugs by the bed and I chose to sleep with the window open because it was warm. If you're looking to be situated in the heart of Chlodwigplatz you can't really escape the noise!

Thin doors/walls, in which the noise in the hallway was hearable. No elevator.

Everything was absolutely great especially the staff and super comfortable big bed also amazing water pressure on the shower

Really lovely and helpful staff, who kindly allowed a late checkout to let our baby nap and use of the fridge for her food. Really understanding and kind staff.

Very clean hotel and you get discount in the cafe underneath, great location, 5 trams going to Köln every 10 mins, also a direct tram to Phantasialand not too far away either, great choice of food and drink around aswell!

You do need to make use of the earplugs provided by the hotel as the windows don't keep the noise from outside out, you are warned about this when booking but please don't let that put you off!

Rooms were well laid out and well equipped and not as small as warned at all. Very clean and comfortable!

Despite suggesting hot drinks are available - this was only true during the day time. It would have been nice to get a hot drink out of those hours too.

It is easily accessible by taking the U-Bahn from Cologne Central Station. There are restaurants, grocery stores and various convenience facilities around the hotel, so it wasn't difficult to get a meal or get the necessary items. The staff also welcomed me very kindly. The room was also clean.

The staff in charge of check-in leaves at 19:00, so if you plan to arrive later than this, you must notify this to the hotel staff in advance. Breakfast is not provided at the hotel, and you must pay to have breakfast at a cafe or other location within the hotel.

Great location in the south of Cologne. Small rooms but very modern.

Light button on the mirror wasn’t able to be turned off, and glowed all night.

I travelled from Manchester UK to a gig at Burgerhaus Stollwerck and found this hotel located around 10 minutes away - I arrived at the central station from the airport and caught the 132 bus directly to Chlodwigplatz. I had read on the website that the hotel is painted green and could see it easily! This is such a relief for a traveller who knows nothing of the local language.Reception staff were very welcoming and helpful, advising me how to get to the venue later.In the morning I enjoyed a complementary coffee and after realising that I hadn't packed as well as I thought I was also given helpful advice on somewhere nearby to buy a cheap T shirt!I'm glad I had enough time to walk around the local area in the evening and the next morning as it's very pleasant - I was impressed by the old gatehouse in the nearby square.The room was very comfortable and good value - I didn't make use of the cafe located next door for time reasons but there were many places to grab food and drinks nearby which I used before catching a tram back to the station for the next part of my journey.

A minor matter but I returned to the hotel around 11pm and felt the need for a hot drink. Sadly this isn't available once reception closes and I was aware of this, but I wouldn't have anything remotely negative to record - this late-night tea drinking may be a British thing, anyway!?

I was on the third floor, and despite a very central location, the room was very quiet

It's not for travellers that cannot walk easily in stairs

Chlowidgplatz is a very nice and lively part of the city of Cologne, plenty of shops, restaurants, cafeterias, and very well connected with public transportation systems. The hotel is very comfortable, personnel is only there for breakfast, all the rest is explained in notices and messages.

Everything was fine.

Easy to find and friendly people helping to check you in.

Just a little warm in the room at night but the fan inside the room helped a lot. Can't blame the hotel for this though, it is summer time so I expected that.
