The Ascot Hotel

The location was great. One lady receptionist on the Friday evening was helpful, giving us utensils very kindly.

The bathroom was dirty and had bugs. Under the bed was not cleaned as there was rubbish from when we checked in. Generally staff were very robotic and were unable to even crack a smile.

On the positive side, the room was fairly spacious and the hotel is located in a convenient area of the city. Unfortunately, this was probably the only positive aspect of our stay.

We booked parking in advance and received a confirmation, but upon arrival we were told that there were no parking spaces available.Some photos are misleading. The TV was hidden inside an old antique cabinet, which looked quite strange in real life.There were black spots on the bathroom ceiling that looked very much like mold, which was quite unpleasant.During check-out, the elevator was not working at all, so we had to carry our suitcases down the stairs ourselves.Additionally, there are at least two nightclubs located right next to the hotel, so be prepared for very loud music that can be heard until early morning.

TV Channel selection was rather local and it would have been great if they had a fridges in the rooms.

Disappointment

The smell in the room was awful, a kind of smell I cannot easily describe. The carpet was old. Although the design of the carpet was colorful, it was obviously not clean. The same design covered every part of the room. My only expectation before going there was to have a new room because the photos made it seem new. By the way, the photos weren't fake, but somehow with lighting tricks, it appeared new.On the other hand, there isn't a lobby in the hotel. I was so tired, and my plan was to sit in the lobby and drink a glass of wine, but it wasn't that kind of hotel, unfortunately.

Sleep at Night in the room

It is mentioned 4 star hotel but not provide any facility in the room. no dental kit, no chapel and no drinking water and no kettle. I stayed for 3 days and they charge for 4 days, making money unethical. no choices of breakfast. entry of rooms is like puzzles, enter in a floor and step down and step up to reach rooms. No support staff to bring luggage even and it is called 4 star facility. Not given room bills too. Very poor not at all value of money.

Very good location, very good beds/sheets, very spacious room

The shower was a bit soft but still strong enough to shower. It was warm so thats good.

Poor value for money, street-facing...

The room facing the street was extremely noisy in the night as there are plenty of clubs around. The quality of the rooms is not really as depicted in the pictures and cleanliness not up to the price you pay. Very poor value for money

The room was not cleaned at all during my stay, trash was not taken out, water was leaking from the bathtub onto the tilesMy expectations were for a good 4 star hotel.Only the breakfast staff was very good.

The property in general is good with very nice facility. The staff is very professional.

Everything is old and needs renovation. Looks so sad.

Location is not very near the historical city center, the Hotel entrance and the room is a little outdated

The hotel was in a convenient location, close to public transport, which made getting around Cologne easy. The price was reasonable for the area, so in that sense, it offered decent value.

Despite being advertised as a 4-star hotel, it fell far below that standard. The area around the hotel was very noisy at night due to nearby bars and clubs, and it didn’t feel entirely safe — especially with a noticeable presence of homeless individuals and questionable activity in the neighborhood.The most frustrating part of my stay was that the Wi-Fi didn’t work from day one, and the hotel made no effort to resolve the issue. I raised it with the receptionist, who simply said, “Sorry, we can’t do anything about it.” That’s not acceptable customer service — especially for a business in the hospitality industry. At the very least, they should have offered some form of compensation, like free breakfast or a drink voucher, but nothing was offered. The attitude felt dismissive and unprofessional.

Although on the main street it was silent. Shops and metro are very close.

A refrigerator and a mini coffeemaker would be better.

Good location, clean rooms, comfy bed, good value for money.There is a public car park just across the road 'Kaiser Wilhelm Parking' which costs 15€ for 24 hours.

It was a bit complicated to find out about the offered parking facilities. After messaging 3 times we've been asked to pick up the key at reception to then find out that there is an even cheaper park across the road.

An elegant hotel in a party area, stylish décor and friendly staff with large rooms and good facilities.

A high-ish price, location in the party zone on the inner ring-road is not as salubrious as the hotel interior... Should have a kettle in the room if trying to be a British-style hotel.

Spacious room, clean, vintage style, they have elevator.

The stuff we're not so friendly. At 11:03 they wanted to charge us for the coffee that was supposed to be free just because the checked out time passed 3mins. Also because we were a bit late to leave the room 11:10, they made a huge complaint. Of course I cannot be sure if this is a matter of culture as we are Mediterraneans and we behave differently if someone has a bit late checkout

Very nice location. Interesting decoration and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Loved the reception dog greeting us. It was simple to get in and out of main sights and plenty of places to eat and drink in the vicinity. We did worry about noise as room faced main road but never heard a thing! Breakfast was a very good spread and the ‘to go’ coffee was a great touch. Would like to stay longer next time as great value for money.

Only that on returning Saturday evening from restaurant groups of Turkish young men were loitering around steps drinking and didn’t seem inclined to move out of way to let us in. But property itself and the staff were fantastic

The hotel was absolutely amazing. The staff was very friendly and super helpful. I arrived early after requesting to leave my bags until the room was ready but they already had the room ready so it was great timing. It was incredibly comfortable and so relaxing after several days of travel. I took a business card so I can remember to stay there again.
