Very bad hotel
The hotel was in an excellent location near Placa de Catalunya and La Rambla. The hotel was very clean and looks newly renovated, with free coffee and tea in the dining area. The staff was also very friendly and accomodating
The room was a bit small, but it had everything we needed
Cleanliness, staff was very helpful, available and courteous.
Location, the street was loud at night.
Acta BCN 40 is conveniently located in the El Raval area of Barcelona. The neighborhood has mixed reviews and this is understandable, as it sometimes feels safe and at other times a bit uncertain. You may notice some unusual people around, but the nearby tapas bars are always full of locals, which adds a sense of security. The hotel itself felt very safe. It is just a few minutes from Plaça Catalunya, close to many shops and bus and metro stops. Check-in was smooth and the room was very clean and tidy with a huge comfy bed, which we appreciated.
We did not like the fact that the room lacked basic amenities. There was no fridge, so we could not keep water or drinks cold, which was disappointing and quite unusual for a hotel. The room was also cold. Although there was a temperature control on the wall, it did not work, and the instructions mentioned central heating. Extra sheets would have made a big difference, especially during winter-time which we visited. No hair shampoo was provided, only body wash, which is something you normally expect to be included. Noise was another issue, as cleaning staff were loud in the hallways every morning, chatting and banging equipment while guests were resting.Breakfast was a very bad experience for me personally. After having breakfast once, I became seriously ill later that day. While this may have been unfortunate luck, the lack of empathy or apology from reception when I mentioned it was disappointing. The hotel also charges 2€ per suitcase for luggage storage, which is inconvenient, especially for couples. Finally, offering a non-Smart TV in 2026 is unacceptable given the nearly 100€ per night price. Overall, Acta BCN 40 provided a mediocre experience that does not reflect the cost of the stay.
The location is great, the room was very clean and the bathroom too, the staff was also really friendly and outgoing. They let us leave our baggage after the stay.
I liked everything except the fact that the bed was a little small.
Clean, cleaning staff & kitchen staff were lovely.
Advertised: free shuttle & not true as you have to call them and they’ll book it for you and you still have to pay; balcony view, but the view is a bar 20 feet across from it and a bar adjacent to the building so very loud throughout the night and early morning; free breakfast, but depends on what room you book and they don’t tell you that at the time; rooms are super small; & staff @ front desk were rude & not helpful.
Cleanliness and complimentary hot drinks.
Area around the place.
The hotel had a good breakfast service and free tea an coffee till 8.00 pm.Waking distance to the Ramblas.
At night the neighborhood is noise, there are many little stores , convenient but make the area to look cheap. The room price is tooo expensive for the area.
Water was very hot, room spartan and not overly ostentatious. Location very good with regards to site seeing. All clean, and breakfast very good value.
Taxi access is a problem, especially if you are physically impaired. Availability of complimentary coffee could be extended.
The service was amazing, the room itself was great with a terrace and a great shower. The breakfast was on of the best ever!! That coffee machine alone should give you 2 more stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Very little, maybe the coffee machine could be 24/7
Helpful staff and easy check in.
My room was nowhere near the standards for the price point versus other similarly priced hotels I’ve stayed in BCN. Felt like a 2-3 star quality.
It was clean, it had a lift. The breakfast was very good the first day.
The street noise during the night was very loud and kept us awake. The location was difficult to get to for some taxis and they would not come to the hotel. Also second day, the breakfast had no eggs. Waited 30 minutes for a new serving of eggs.
Perfect location and perfect staff , specially Mr. He’s ham in the reception
24h reception, A/C works really well, reception staff on our check in was kind, room size is small but for 2 night was enough for 2 people who spent all day and night out.
Location is pretty bad. It is central but doesn’t look safe. One night 2 guy tried to stop us and ask for money. Hotel cannot do anything about it ok its neighborhood.
We arrived past normal checkin and the elevator was in maintenance. So we couldn’t go up to our 5th floor assigned rooms. We were offered to store our bags behind the desk and go walk around it will be done in 15 mins. So we did that had a drink and tapa came back and no change. Traveling with 5 y/o and 2 71+ year olds. Walking up 5 flights of stairs wasn’t going to work. Everything about the property was odd - paid for lockers but only with a 2 euro coin! We requested a refund since we couldn’t get old people up 5 flights and he offered 2 of the 3 nights refunded. We just wanted to leave so accepted that. He the charged us the 2€ for the candy the kid wanted. Wouldn’t recommend to say the least.
Loved the staff. Rooms are small yet you learn how to navigate.
Could not get room temperature correct so turned it off. I may have been the issue?
