Pros +
- Cleanliness, Staff, Location
- The location is perfect, they clean the rooms everyday.
- Perfect location. Close to Placa de Catalunya. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby, and a Starbucks just a few blocks away. Kind staff; be realistic as this is a bare bones hotel; it's older, but clean, and unlike a hostel you get a private room.
Cons -
- Noise from neighbours
- Something I didn't like about the hotel was that when I arrived, I was required to pay a Municipal tax in cash (80 Euro) without a receipt, when I had already made all payments online before my visit.
- It's an old hotel, and the bathroom fixtures are very old and in need of replacing.

Location and very helpful staff. We had a nice big room with four beds for two people which was great. We'd been traveling for weeks and had space to spread out our things and rearrange everything before flying back to the US. Location was perfect.

Location, cleanliness, staff.
My room was right next to the office/reception.
Very convenient location, the room was clean and beds comfortable.
I was more than surprised that I had to pay tax which was over 60 euro for 3 people for 4 nights. It was not mentioned on the hotel's page. If other hotels include it in the cost of the stay no wonder this one seemed to be cheaper....
Staff are friendly Location in city center
The NOISE!!!We were given room 101 and its facing the main street. Its noisy during the day as the street is a very busy street.pedestrians noise traffic noise and construction noise starts at 8am.Our room is on the first floor and the big window is single glazed. The building infront of.the hotel is undergoing major restoration. At night it's even worstThe garbage collection trucks collect the garbage at 10pm1am and 3am. So loud that even with an earplug we got woken up everytime. We ask to be move to another room but was told no way possibleThree nights we stayed 3 nights not a lot of sleep then at 8am the construction noise starts again. If you need to sleep avoid this hotel. I should have read the previous reviews before booking. There is no kettle or fridge in the roomYou have to climb one flight of stairs to get to the lift so carrying big suitcases maybe a problem
Hotel very clean, staff were too nice close the larambla where you can go and find shopping center and all you need.
Good value for money, friendly staff, good location
Basic, small, no tea maker, but that’s ok due to the price range
The location was perfect
My stay at Hotel Pelayo was not a positive experience overall. The hotel was undergoing renovations, and we were not informed about this in advance. After check-in, when we went to rest, the noise from the construction and the loud conversations and laughter of the workers did not stop, making it impossible to relax. We went to the reception to complain, but the response we received from the staff was rude and arrogant: “If you came here to rest, this is not the right place.” This was very disappointing, especially considering that I paid for a hotel room specifically to rest.Another negative point was the lack of privacy. We were required to leave the room key at the reception every time we left the room, which felt inconvenient and uncomfortable.
Location only
Very rude staffThroughout our stay, he kept making inappropriate comments and behaved rudely whenever we were shopping or purchasing many items, which felt excessive and judgmental, as if he were envious. They were not helpful at all and did not assist us in any way.He insisted that we leave the room key with them, and we later noticed that several items were missing when we returned from our trip.Additionally, they did not help us with our luggage, left us to carry the suitcases on our own, and refused to operate the elevator unless there was an argument. Overall, the experience was very unpleasant, and I do not recommend this place to anyone at all.
Excellent quality for that modest price. Although the rooms are rather small, it is not a problem for short-term stay. Ecerything was clean and staff friendly. Definitely I will come again.
Great location, most sites are within walking distance. Extremely nice and helpful staff.
The room faces the street, which is pretty noisy. Garbage collection in late night, and people talk loud on the street.
They cleaned the room every day.
At first the air ventilation in the bathroom wasn't working, after many times that we asked to change the room, the second room didn't have air ventilation system at all! Also the hair dryer not even a minute after was on, stopped working from overheat and needed some minutes to work again...
It's in the city centre, extremely close to the place de Catalunya
I took a single room and it barely had any ventilation. The room smelled musty. The room was visibly clean, but still it smelled like it was shut and damp for a long time. I feel that it was quite expensive for the facilities.
The location was excellent. The rooms were quite basic but clean. Parking is not included but not a bad price and only a 10 minute walk from the hotel
No facilities really. Couldn’t make a coffee or store any food. Also nowhere to get food not even a vending machine
Fab location, dated but clean
The 2nd floor really smelt of cigarettes
Th staff was very nice, very helpful with all I needed. I was a solo traveler so the room was small but with everything I needed. One very important point is that everyday the room was cleaned. The location was great and close to the center of Barcelona.
Just to put one “bad” thing is that there is no direct elevator to the hotel, to access de elevator there are some stairs that can be a little annoying with the luggage.
Convenient location right next to Placa Catalunya, basic but had all we need
There was no water supply on our last night
This hotel deserves a mention, first and foremost for the professionalism and passion of the staff, who are well-organized and helpful with their guests. Cleanliness is good, though the rooms are small and dated, but very comfortable. The beds are comfortable.
The air quality and heating and cooling systems could be improved.
