About
chic&basic Zoo is in El Born, now one of the most fashionable and cosmopolitan districts of central Barcelona. On one side is the Gothic Quarter, to the other is Ciutadella Park, and the port is a few minutes away. From the hotel, guests can easily get to the historic center of the city, the Gothic Quarter (Barrio Gótico) where the cathedral, Santa Maria del Mar, Plaza Sant Jaume and Santa Anna are located. The hotel is also very close to the zoo, the Ciutadella Park, beaches and the Olympic Port. In the neighborhood guests will also find nightlife, bars, restaurants (the area of El Born is where you´ll find the most typical ‘tapas’) and museums, such as the Picasso Museum.

- The location is great, and the building and balcony are nice. I really appreciated the nice gifts and the free coffee in the kitchen.
- Price and location were great, compared to other properties I looked at online. Beds and pillows were comfortable and everything was clean
- Good location with a cute aesthetic. There was a common room that had sparkling water, coffee, tea, cookies, and some marshmallow candy that was kind of yummy.
Cons -
- The room could use a bit of renovation, especially the bathroom, and the corridor is a bit dark, which can feel slightly uncomfortable.
- Hot water ran out when we were getting ready for the day. Waited an hour and got it back.
- the bed was not comfortable, because the were two single beds put together and two mattresses put together, and it is not comfortable to sleep on it.

great location, near barcelona zoo and a big green park
the bed was not comfortable, because the were two single beds put together and two mattresses put together, and it is not comfortable to sleep on it.
Very clean, bed and pillows were very comfortable. Good towels and body wash supply. Cleaners came daily to change everything. Welcome gift which was a tote bag water natural juice chips and some sweets. The location is everything! Close to all u can imagine!
The shower did not have any handheld head just the top head.
The room was clean & well organized
This was one of the most frustrating stays we’ve ever had, and we travel often. First off, the address provided on Booking.com is NOT the actual check-in location. You have to walk 2-3 minutes to a completely different building just to check in — with your luggage in tow. This is not mentioned anywhere clearly in the listing. Instead, they send a Booking.com “message” a day before your arrival. Sorry, but who is checking messages while in transit or on a flight? This crucial info needs to be on the listing page itself. When we raised this issue with the concierge (after dragging our bags back and forth in an unfamiliar area), she was completely unhelpful. No apology, no empathy — just a defensive attitude. This is not how hospitality works. To make matters worse, the room was an absolute pigeonhole — dark, cramped, and utterly depressing, with zero sunlight. It was barely big enough to turn around in, and definitely not worth the $200+ price tag. The photos are misleading. On top of that, the neighborhood felt sketchy and unsafe, especially when arriving at night. We honestly felt uneasy walking around with our bags.
It helped us out when we needed a hotel
Small, a little fun down trying to be trendy. Very loud
We like the position, 10 min from the beach and front park, we use the transport only once and the rest we walked everywhere. Also the comunal coffee area, with treats tea fresh water and coffee was a nice pleasure. The smell of the room was very inviting!
A bit of confusion on the reception location, if you change address on the app will be easier, only two plugs on top of the bed, slightly unconfortable.
I liked the free tea and coffee etc and the little touches in the room like the tote bag and juice/crisps. The later check out time was also great.
The rooms are very basic and the shower was quite mouldy. The walls are also very thin so we were woken several times throughout the night when people were coming and going.
The location was perfect.
I was waken up every day by the cleaning service because I could hear the noise coming from outside our room already before 8am.
Very comfy hotel in a nice area, easy to reach with public transport. Easy check in and allowed us to keep our bags before and after our stay.
Location is perfect, good breakfast is available in the Chic & Basic Born.
Though check in is from 15:00 my room was only ready around 16:00 which was a little inconvenient.
Easy 50-100% overpriced. Great location but the room is basic (clean and quiet). Also if arrive with luggage they make you walk round the corner because their reception isn’t occupied and they share it with another place
Location was great. Lovely bed. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Balcony was a nice addition. Liked the communal area with free coffee's etc and the smoking area.
Was slightly confusing having to check in at the hotel around the corner. Sometimes our key would play up and we would have to buzz the hotel to open the door. Would like a fridge in the room.
The location was great, but the room was too small. Free coffee, toothpaste, and slippers – that was very nice.
Additionally, near the window of my room, there was a large air conditioner that ran 24 hours, and it was always noisy. The first night, it was hard to sleep. I think the sound insulation needs improvement, and the cleaning should be more thorough.
Air con didn't work, fan wasn't effective, had to sleep with window open and it was noisy. Bed was super uncomfortable, pillows were not good, terrible experience
Nothing, was sent to another building when checking in, Room was dirty so then sent to another room different to what i booked.

Wi-fi works really good.
The hotel unfortunately turned out to be different from the pictures. Cold tiles on the floor and a very dark room. We paid extra for a room with a balcony which did not close, making it noisy and cold. The air conditioning and radiators were blocked and even after consulting reception nothing could be done about it. We slept in our clothes, covered with jackets (stay in January). The room was not clean, especially the bathroom - although this is more the fault of wear and tear, the room is suitable for renovation and cleaning does not do much.
The hotel is in a great location (park, restaurants, coffee, bus stop - everything in close range), comfortable beds, nice staff. Check in/out and breakfast in Chic & Basic Born Boutique Hotel around the corner). 10-15 minutes to the beach.
Disadvantage of rooms are thin walls so if you have loud neighbourhood you can hear them.
Location only
That it looked like a cute pension not a hotel, that’s it. Cold room.
