About
This chic, exclusive hotel is set in an 18th-century aristocratic house overlooking a secluded square in the heart of the Gothic Quarter. Its contemporary style contrasts with the impressive historic surroundings. Set right beside the city’s Cathedral, the Hotel Neri lies just a short distance from the bustling Las Ramblas. The building’s original period charm has been preserved and enhanced by the hotel’s sophisticated interior design. This design blends with relaxing music and sensual aromas to create a unique setting in this ancient, atmospheric area of central Barcelona. Dine on delicious specialties in the hotel restaurant or enjoy a drink at the terrace bar. You can also spend a relaxing moment in the tranquil library or on the pretty rooftop garden terrace. Hotel Neri Relais & Châteaux preserves its impressive façade to Sant Felip Neri square as well as a 17th-century stone wall, which separates the lounge bar area of the restaurant. It has the status of Specialty Monument. Hotel Neri also offers apartments housed in a restored classic building located few yards away. Please see the individual apartment description for more details.

Pros +
- This property is gorgeous. The whole space was beautiful and dripping in luxury and history without being ostentatious. The high ceilings made the rooms feel even larger, but what was most impressive was the handwritten note upon arrival—so simple, so special. The young lady at the front desk even helped us find the best catañas last minute. It is definitely a touristy area and cabs won’t always drive to the door, but it’s also a unique experience and we were tourists too. The small details and touches of Catalonian pride really elevated an already lovely hotel.
- The location was great for all things in the Gothic section of the city. The front desk staff was always ready and willing to help. The building is beautifully done.
- We were in the apartment, so breakfast was not included. There was a very nice coffee machine in the apartment, but it would've been nice to have milk or cream available, too. As we were only two nights, we didn't go buy milk so we didn't use the coffee machine. Beds were excellent. So were the pillows and linens. Also, excellent luxurious robes and free slippers. Also, the staff was EXCEPTIONAL. Friendly and attentive.
Cons -
- Someone cut in front of us at check in and was allowed to by staff which wasn’t great, but people will people. Everything else was fabulous.
- The staff in the restaurant could be a bit tough - didn't feel quite welcoming. The hotel is surrounded by building by that are undergoing construction so that out nearly every window you are surrounded by scaffolding. Hopefully that is a temporary situation.
- The room was a tiny bit dark. There was a plastic chair in the living room area that wasn't super comfy. So when my. husband sat on the sofa, I had to on the plastic chair. We ended up pulling the comfy chair from the bedroom into the living room area. We were gifted a bottle of wine, which was lovely but as we weren't drinking, it might be nice for a hotel to ask if wine is a good gift or of something else is more appropriate.

Hotel Neri is in the heart of the gothic quarter, an easy walk to top sights and to public transportation. The location is unbeatable, with amazing dining and shopping opportunities steps away. We visited with young children and found an endless supply of activities of interest to all.The rooms were meticulously clean and beautiful. The room we had was spacious, and all our requests addressed before our arrival. Our room was ready early when we arrived which was nice. Hotel staff was friendly and wonderful, and the included breakfast was really good.Rooftop terrace and pools were a hit as well!
Nothing!
Amazing location and very nice staff!
Value for money is not there - paying ~$750 a night for an apartment, but bathroom is miniature, old tiling, etc. - just needs to be freshened up to command these rates.
Beautiful small hotel in quiet area of old town. The front desk personnel were extremely helpful and the bar and restaurant staff were great. Nice small rooftop oasis with dipping pool. Would definitely stay here again.
Charming boutique hotel with rooftop areas. We stayed in the apartment, which is not part of the main hotel. It felt like a home away from home.
I felt that the bathroom was too small.
The staff were brilliant with our two young boys who loved the hotel and city. Breakfast was fantastic and they catered well for our son, who has allergies. Beautiful property and location in the heart of the Gothic Quarter.
Friendly staff and very helpful. Lovely big room cosy barhrobes excellent breakfast. A very relaxing place to stay.
Our family of 4 stayed in one of the 1 bedroom apartments across the street from the main hotel. We had a bedroom w/bathroom (nice walk in shower), living room w/ pullout, kitchen/dining area (that was nicely appointed with supplies) and a view of a gothic district street. Beds very comfortable, and luxury robes w slippers also provided. Outdoor area provided on rooftop of both buildings. Many security features to get into building/ apartment. Very high class property with unique features built in 12th century palace. Very attentive front desk staff as well as high quality bar and restaurant onsite (that was very spacious and quiet compared to some nearby). Tons of nice shops and restaurants nearby in both the Gothic and El born district. Also a fairly easy walk to the waterfront district. The uniqueness of this property and neighborhood really contributed to our overall experience in Barcelona, and we would definitely stay here again.
Be aware that many taxis will not drop you off at the hotel but a few minutes walk away. However the hotel is able to directly summon a taxi to their door for pickup.
Property is cool. Room is decent. Bathroom in room is very dated. Restaurant is good. Staff is great. Hard to say if it’s a 5-star property, probably not; but def not worth a $1K/nt. We dramatically overpaid.
Large, comfortable, well lit room with modern fixtures in the bathroom that include a double sink bathtub and dual jet shower. The front desk staff is exceptional. The location could not be better for our needs, wanting to explore the Gothic quarter and be central to public transportation.
Outstanding hotel! Wonderful staff, excellent food, great design.
Breakfast was good quality with a reasonable variety. The location was great with lots of attractions ( rambla, marina etc) a few minutes away on foot.
We did not like the coffee. Both in the breakfast and in the room the coffee was really weak and I think this something that can be easily fixed. I also thought that the lighting in the breakfast area was really poor.
The location is excellent near to public transport but in the heart of the old city. The staff were all kind and helpful. The restaurant was fantastic and the food delicious modern takes on Tapas.
Only the weather. This is an excellent hotel with atmosphere and character.
Excellent breakfast, very nice restaurant. We asked for it in our room in one day, and the quality was the same.
Upgraded room was a super bonus. Staff were excellent across the board. Restaurant was great for breakfast and dinner. We really enjoyed our visit. The roof terrace was a great place to relax.
The staff is very friendly, and the design is simple yet charming.
1.Taxis do not come directly to the hotel, and if you plan to take a taxi during the day, you will need to cross a fairly busy square on foot.2.The rooms are quite small, and as a result, there was not enough space for two suitcases.3.Water in the shower flows simultaneously from both showerheads (the overhead rain shower and the regular handheld one), and it cannot be adjusted.4.Breakfasts: In the morning, if you happen to arrive at breakfast at the same time as many others, be prepared for a long wait, and some items on your breakfast order may be mixed up or not brought at all.
beautiful hotel in a very nice area of the city. Staff very helpful and accommodating.
Lovely rooms Great service especially Tomas and Elle. Walking to many sights and great restaurants
