Pros +
- We've stayed here many times & like the quiet setting & close proximity to sites. Rooms are beautiful, breakfast is great. The staff is cold, curt & rude. You're treated like an imposition & when I requested places to eat he sent us to 3 closed spots.
- Quiet, convenient location. Compound has marvelous shaded patios in front and back - including an orange tree. Located on Aventine Hill in an exclusive neighborhood of villas and condos. Hot and old buffet breakfast.
- The charming atmosphere and welcoming staff.
Cons -
- The staff is so cold, curt & rude. You're treated like an imposition & when I requested places to eat he sent us to 3 closed restaurants. I have rarely experienced such poor hospitality.
- We were informed at check-in that, this is our only economy room. Every time you take a shower, the bathroom floor floods because there is only a 1/16 high lip around the bottom of the shower stall. When you sit on toilet your feet are in the shower.
- Rooms were small and crammed. Tiny bathroom. We were two adults and two kids, they had no connected rooms. Heat was controlled by lady in front do need to ask her to heat it up. The decor looks authentic in photos but when you are there it looks fake and tacky, just for show.

I will not return there.

Very beautiful building, located in a picturesque neighborhood. Comfortable rooms and very kind staff. The bathroom had a weird space distribution but very nice and clean.
Everything great
Beautiful historic building in a quiet part of the city
We love walking so we loved the location but it is on top of a hill
all goodPersons at Reception were very very helpful and cooperative with pleasing peronality. Thanks to them for ther cooperation
You should also have normal croiasssant ( not sweet)- Ironing place should funcional for the guest
My room was spacious. The bed linens were sumptuous, and the heated bath towels added a sense of luxury. I spent time relaxing on the room's balcony, enjoying the serenity of the Aventine neighborhood. Complimentary breakfast was served in a beautiful setting, where fresh juice, coffee, tea, savory, and sweet treats were offered. The front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. They booked transport to and from the airport, making my arrival and departure stress-free.
At the reception we were greeted with drinks and useful info on what to see in the area, alongside tips on getting there, and good places to eat at, the kind where the Romans go.The room itself kept up with the charm of the Aventine, making the stay there both pleasant and a temptation for an indoor photo shoot. The location is in a romantic and quiet area. Close to a neighborhood where the food is great, be it a restaurant or a street food vendor, and a couple of popular landmarks. As for the breakfast, while the same everyday, the selection was something to try of each and get filled in doing so.Overall, it's the sort of stay I have in mind to rebook, if available.
Great breakfast. Nice staff. Room was spacious and clean. In a nice neighborhood
A little further from the center than I expected
Hotel San Anselmo will be my go to hotel in Rome. It is orgeous. The rooms are beautiful, breakfast amazing and staff very friendly. I also love the area. it is a 15-20 minute walk to major sights but the neighborhood is quiet and just beautiful. Highly recommend!
Our room was nicely decorated.Beautiful view from window. Steps away from the green keyhole door. Walking distance to main road to get hop on/hop off bus and Maximus Colosseum. Breakfast was excellent.
Bathroom a bit small and shower handle hard to understand.
The property was very quaint, and exceptionally clean. It is in a quiet part of Rome, so you will need transportation to go into the heart of Rome for excursions. It sits at the top of a hill, so if you walk anywhere, just be aware it will be a bit strenuous.
The decor was amazing, and the breakfast was likewise. The breakfast staff was fabulous and the food was excellent.
Staff were super nice and helpful. Location was great and quiet. Rooms are absolutely beautiful. Perfect for couples!
Accessibility to public transportation is a little rough. You have to ask the front desk to turn on the AC which was weird. There are controls available from the inside, but they don't do anything unless the front desk manually allows it first. Additionally, there was random white flashes throughout the room from either some sensor or something. Woke us up a couple of times, and this happened a lot. (Not cars or anything, the light came from inside the room and our window was completely covered by their awesome blackout curtains.) Also checkout is at 12 which is great because it is late, but they were a little pushy at around 11. I had 2 separate incidents where they just tapped to enter to clean my room for the next guest and I hadn't even left/checked out yet.
Great location, quiet, parrots flying around. Orange trees in the breakfast area. Playful interior mimicking 15 century palazzo style. Nice local restaurants and supermarkets are 5 minute walk. Metro station is 6 minute walk. There’s taxi parked near the pyramid metro station.
Just a bit far from the major sites: it is both advantage and at times a drawback. You need to go up a beautiful sloping street when coming back from sightseeing trips. Nobody’s fault.
super classy, great staff and old world charm + in a nice quiet neighborhood yet close to all that is exciting
location and grounds were pastoral, yet close to interesting attractions
no armchair in room
Felt like a special secret garden location - a real gem.
Location was a bit of a walk … 20minutes to get into the city which was very doable as long as you have good shoes.
Beautiful boutique hotel. Incredible breakfast. Quiet neighborhood. Good wifi. Loved the room balcony!
Room was smaller than expected. Difficult and slippery to get into the shower.
Quaint and rustic with lovely rooms, friendly staff and a really excellent continental breakfast.
