Pros +
- The Location and staff
- Everything
- This hotel is probably much more expensive during the summer season, but in January it offered good value for money. It’s very close to Roma Termini rail station, no more than a 6–7 minute easy walk (if you are coming Fiumicino airport, you will arrive at this station anyway). It’s also within walking distance of all major attractions, I was able to get everywhere without any difficulty. There are plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby, so food was never an issue. It can be a bit tricky to find at first, as it’s located in an old building that houses several other hotels (each with a different entrance though), but overall it’s a pleasant place to stay in the center of Rome. I would certainly stay here again if the price is reasonable.
Cons -
- The breakfast was too good
- I stayed in a single room, and the bed was a bit small even for me (I’m 174 cm and very thin). The shower stall wasn’t very spacious either, but I suppose that’s sort of to be expected in a historical building like this, so no hard feelings. Overall, it’s a clean and pleasant place to stay in Rome.
- The bathroom was poorly distributed in that I really could not use the toilet without sitting at a weird angle, twisting. The breakfast room was so overheated, with just a t-shirt, you would leave very sweaty. It was pretty uncomfortable.

The majority of the staff went out of their way to be incredibly kind and helpful. They remembered you when you entered the door, etc. They chatted. They even made several phone calls for me to solve a problem for me. The hotel is in a great location, there are some decent places to grab a bite nearby, and the train station and main sites are within walking distance.

My husband and I stayed 8 nights at the Hotel Aberdeen in the 2 weeks before Christmas. It has a great location in a renovated palazzo, walking distance to the train station, but on a very quiet street. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, happy to provide directions and recommendations. The room was clean and comfortable, beds were fine, bathroom was one of the cleanest I've seen. The room had a safe if you want to put any valuables in it. The breakfast was amazing, scrambled eggs, cheeses and meats, yogurt, granola, cereal, fruit, pastries and croissants, juices, etc. And GREAT cappuccino! It made a great start to each day as we set out to explore Rome. We came to really "see" Rome and so we walked everywhere, but public transportation is nearby if you aren't interested in walking to the various sites. There is an abundance of restaurants within a few blocks and several gelaterias!
Everything was fine.
Great staff and great breakfast selection. Location was perfect and walking distance to all the sites that I wanted to see.
Everything! Great staff. Can’t say enough good things about the hotel. Comfortable rooms. Good breakfast would stay here again absolutely
Perfect location and helpful staff. Good breakfast. Nice rooms. Safe place.
No water boiler in the room. Perforated/ineffective hair dryer.
Location was great, close to some lovely restaurants and the Republic Square. Having a balcony near our room was lovely and the breakfast was really good.Hotel Aberdeen passed our expectations.
Can't name anything.
Convenient location
Beds and before a bit worn. No outlets near the beds
Fabulous location on Via Firenze: close to railway station and near to main attractions, all in walking distance.Staff were helpful and reception is always available. Breakfast is a fair choice of cereal, breads and spreads, and sweet cakes. Also scrambled egg. They will make a cappuccino or espresso on request.
Bed mattress was uncomfortably firm. Bathroom was OK, but access to the shower was awkward; there was no shelf for soap, etc.; and the soap/shampoo came in a sachet that was hard to open and difficult to use.
Certainly located within easy walking distance to most attractions. On a nice quiet side street. Very clean with a personable and professional staff.
The bed was a bit firm for me but I confess I like a plush pillow top.
Location and breakfast Great service from staffBest cappuccinos
Good location, great staff, AC and WiFi worked well. When I got rained on they were able to find me a fan so I could dry my clothes. Easy walking distance to main train station or bus/metro stops or even the main sights if you don’t mind walking.
No complaints
Breakfast was good. Staff was efficient;
Step in bathroom was dangerous. No grab bars; shampoo and body wash were not quality we’d expect from a hotel at this price point or any price point.
Staff is nice and professional as always. Close by everything and the metro station.
The key room is really heavy, and you have to give it to the staff and get it back every time you go out even for just a short out to buy something quick. Looks like there is no elevator so if your room is upstairs, it might be tough if you have heavy luggage or if you are old.
Spacious room near eating venues and transportation access. Gracious and helpful staff.
It was hard to get fresh air in the room as the room was on the first floor and leaving the window open posed dangers.
Convenient location within walking distance to train station and historic sites, easily accessible to bus and metro lines with good nearby food options. Hotel is in a lovely palazzo style building, with comfortable, impeccably clean room and updated bathroom fixtures, good breakfast and helpful friendly staff. Great value!!
Nothing, everything was great and would definitely stay here again
Loved the location. Walking distance to restaurants, cafe, museum, Trevi and Santa Maria Maggiore.
Nothing wrong
Very friendly staff at reception, with whom you may interact often as they keep the keys at the front desk—might seem like a hassle to turn them in, but it’s a good security feature and there’s always someone there. Plus you don’t have to worry about losing the keys. Breakfast was abundant (if not gourmet), and you can get coffee a number of ways by asking the attendant on duty (Americano-style is the default). I found the AC very effective for an August visit, and the room had all that I needed—including a bed that gave me four nights of solid sleep. Also appreciate the Roman statue in the courtyard as you’re entering, and the old-world ceiling paintings in the breakfast room. Just a block or so off the Via Nazionale, it’s close to a bus stop, the Termini train station, and other top sites without seeming too surrounded by tourists. Would stay here again!
Kind of an interesting (though not terrible) smell in the room, but one I’ve noticed before in some all-tile spaces. Everything felt very clean though.Decor and design might be a tad dated, but hey, it’s in the Eternal City, so if everything being super modern is a must for you, maybe Rome isn’t your place anyway.
