About
Designed by Baroque architect Borromini, the Donna Camilla Savelli is a former monastery in Rome's popular Trastevere area. It offers a garden, elegant and sober rooms, and free WiFi throughout. The property dates back to the 17th-century, and features exposed wooden beams on the ceilings and precious stuccoes. Rooms are air-conditioned and offer an LCD TV with satellite channels. The terrace at the Camilla Savelli offers views of the Eternal City. The inner garden is complete with patio. Breakfast is a varied buffet including sweet and savory items, and vegan products. During summer, it is served in the garden. The surroundings of this 4-star hotel include historic buildings, traditional Roman squares, and cobblestone-covered streets. The famous square outside the Church of Santa Maria in Trastevere is a 5-minute walk away. The Vatican is a 10-minute walk along the banks of River Tiber. The historical center of Rome is just across Sisto Bridge.

- We loved everything about the hotel. It was beautiful!! The staff was superb! I would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Rome. We could walk to everywhere¿..
- Location and service was excellent. In such a busy city it was nice to not feel like one more tourist with wonderful treatment by the staff.
- The hotel is lovely but the 5 star staff is what makes the difference! It use to be a monestary, three nuns still live in a private section of the proprty, and they have mass everyday at 7am. Breakfast is a nice variety and delicious selection. Their premier restaurant dwonstairs is definately a Michelin star experience. The room was originally a dissapointment, but was upgraded from our original selection, so the upgrade did help meet our expectations related to comfort- thanks to the staff. A very special thanks to Maria Elena, Gilbert, Matteo, Carmen and Ima for making our experience a memorable one!!! NOTE TO PROPERTY OWNER: You may want to consider investing in installing split AC units in a greater number of rooms to give travellers from the US the comforts they are typically acustome to back home. Wishing you many blessings and much success!
Cons -
- No!
- It would have been nice to have better surfaces for luggage and toiletries. Since we were two people we found the space for our things was tight.
- The original room did not have air conditioning as the air conditioner vs heater option is controlled by the hotel. Because it was approximately 50-60 degrees outside, the heater was as on, so we had no option of even setting the temperature control to fan mode. The staff however was very accomodating in that they offered to provide a fan in our original room, but then eventually upgraded our room to I beleive the only room in the hotel that did have a slpit AC unit- thank God!

I felt like I was on vacation! Beautiful spaces, wonderful staff. Just outside of the main tourist areas which was what we wanted yet walkable to anywhere or a short uber which was easy
Beautiful historic building. Breakfast room was incredible. A calm peaceful oasis right in the heart to Travestere. The most amazing staff.
Quiet location, but close to all restaurants; spacious room; overall atmosphere of the ancient building.
30€ charge for a small dog. Many hotels promote free of charge stay for the pets.
Amazing location, staff, and cleanliness, and it’s just so beautiful!
It’s a bit on the expensive side, but we’ve stayed twice now, so obviously we love it overall! The staff from front desk to cleaners to porters are all wonderful.
Great location, very nice building, the room was massive, clean and well maintained! Brilliant staff, could you ask for more?
The property was beautiful. Even though it was November we ate breakfast in the garden.
There wasn’t anything I didn’t like. The room was lovely, the staff was fantastic, the breakfast was outstanding and the bar was wonderful. I didn’t eat dinner at the hotel because the staff made wonderful recommendations and made the reservations for us.
The breakfast was very good with a huge variety of choices and the staff was very attentive.
The birds that would try to steal food on the tables.
The location, the staff and the accommodations.
Loved it all!
Staff and rooms were wonderful.
Our room by the road was very loud
An old convent on the edge of Trasteverse. Rooms are newly done up and nicely designed. Generally comfortable - a nice place to be in a historic setting. Staff are absolutely delightful - helpful, considerate, charming and funny.Great location for popping into Trastevere without actually being in the middle of it. Best of both worlds - quiet spacious environment for living in yet round the corner from the buzzing hub. The breakfast is missing my particular staples (salmon, parma, hard cheese, avocado) however this is a great excuse to buy bits and bobs down the markets. Mercato Trionfale next to Vatican is good and also a great place for lunch.
Hotel Donna Camilla Savelli is an altogether extraordinary place. A former convent designed in part by the renowned architect Borromini, the hotel offers remarkably comfortable, elegantly appointed rooms in a building of genuine historical significance. Indeed, the gorgeous Borromini dining room, where we enjoyed breakfast, as well as a sumptuous Christmas prix fixe feast, is museum-worthy. We went to midnight mass at the hotel's extraordinary chapel, where we enjoyed a service conducted by a charismatic Portuguese priest and a rather picturesque ancient nun who played the organ. Our room was spacious, the bed was lovely, and the bathroom was elegant. The service at the hotel was first-rate all around. And Trastevere is a fantastic neighborhood full of marvels at every turn, a perfect place to amble far from the crush of downtown Rome.
Nothing. The hotel is extraordinary.
Beautiful hotel , excellent location . Service was great
The executive room where I stayed wasn’t value for money . Very small for a double and overlooking back of the hotel kind of enclosed space . I was surprised things like the complimentary water wast topped up for a 4 day stay , one bottle first day , and that’s it . Same with toiletries .
Location is absolutely perfect. Lovely hotel with a nice restaurant.
At the check out we were presented with the final bill significantly higher than expected due to automatically included tips for stuff. I’ve been traveling to Italy for years and there was never a situation like this… the receptionist told us that the tips were optional but I still found it odd
A place with history in a lively neighborhood.
At check-out, an additional tip is added to the bill. You are informed that you can decline this, but this is an inappropriate practice.
Loved the hotel and its history. Loved being able to attend morning mass in the chapel. The breakfast was good but not many options at reasonable prices for those of us who do not eat a lot off a budget. $25 euro for a piece of toast and yogurt is outrageous
Breakfast options. See above
Beautiful & peaceful hotel! The staff was top notch! Our dinner at their restaurant was a wonderful experience. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the service excellent! Great hotel location near Trastavere. Wonderful place to end our vacation!
The calm spiritual architecture & the updated, clean minimalist decor.
This is simply a gorgeous historic hotel in an old convent. The service was impeccable and we truly enjoyed our stay, will stay there again when in Rome and will recommend to all our family that they stay there as well. I
