- It was a great old hotel with a lot of character. We felt very at home.
- Quirky, home feeling, lovely bedroom and common room. Clean and comfortable, very friendly staff, lovely old building.
- Old building. Could hear other guest. Noise from other guests walking about. Noise most of night and early morning from other guest entering and leaving. Not what expected.
Cons -
- The room was great but just needs a little TLC. Bathroom was way dark. Another bulb or over sink light would be great. Also, toilet seat needs to be tightened. Roof outside of window needs to be cleaned. Not terrible issues, but would be great improvement
- updated structure. Felt like I was walking on uneven floors. Door frames warped.

Room comfortable. Liked the common areas. Guests were very considerate of each other.
Climbing 2 flights of stairs to get to room
Loved the historic nature of the hotel. Martin was very nice and accommodating when it turned out I’d accidentally booked two rooms. The room was very large with a kitchen area that included a fridge and quite a few small appliances. It was in a hood part of town, close to the only 2 open restaurants in town.
The hotel was pretty old and we were a little concerned about using outlets and appliances. Floors squeaked pretty bad and were loud when we or others walked up stairs or in the hall. The bed frame was old and creaky. My husband and I kept each other up all night because we’d both wake up when one of us moved it turned over. The batteries were dead in our tv remote. I called and Martin answered right away and was very nice. He said he’d bring replacements right away but never showed up. Even the next day someone came in and made our bed but didn’t replace the batteries in the remote, even though we’d left the remote open on the desk because we’d thrown the bad batteries away.
The bed was good.
No parking lot, you park on the street. The shower head did not spray; it had two streams of water.
Location is fantastic. We arrived late and the host gave us instructions to access the building and room. A lovely old building with character. Everything worked as it should.
Only the bed was a bit uncomfortable.
Bit of an odd stay but that's part of the charm of a historic hotel. Convenient location downtown right across from the water.
They assigned me to a room that was already occupied but cleared it up quickly by phone call. Bit dated but that's expected.
Great location on the main street. Hotel was exactly as expected: heritage, quirky, with lots of character. Comfy bed and the room included everything we needed for a one night stay. Temps outside dropped below zero overnight but we were plenty warm inside. Silverado restaurant is pretty much right next door. Had a great value dinner there.
Loved everything. Especially comforting was the European touch you can feel all around the property, being from the Netherlands. It’s managed by the owners, which you can feel in all the care and communication. I was upgraded to a cabin after I had to change my dates, which wasn’t any problem. Will definitely be coming back!
This was much more like an AirBnB than a hotel. No staff. You just walk into the building and the key is in the door to your room. An old building with long staircases up to the rooms. Doors let out into a common area where people can hang out. Rooms are decently maintained.
Breakfast was a package of store-bought muffins and some cereal, plus things in a fridge that I couldn't tell whether could cook myself. No ice machine -- the freezer section of the fridge had a bag or store-bought ice, but it was almost empty.
Located on the Main Street in town. Very efficient self check-in. Adorable property. Small outfitted kitchen. A nice property overall.
No AC. There was a fan but the room was hot.
The location of the Bay Historic Bayview Hotel was perfect. It is located in the heart of downtown Stewart. The age of the hotel lended to its charm.
I was surprised the hotel had no one at the front desk or any manager on sight. There was a code to get into the hotel, but the front door was usually found unlocked. I felt unsafe when a large group of people entered the hotel and ran up stairs and had a very loud party in the common area.It was not clean and under need of repair, such as the electrical socket in the bathroom was damaged. The mattress was so hard it would have been better to sleep on the floor.
Cool hotel if you are looking for a rustic experience. Rooms were clean, definitely had a 1920 hotel smell.
Very noisy when other guests are entering building just because of the design and age of the hotel.
Good Location and Old style hotel
Bed not that comfortable and bathroom needed an update
The location of the hotel was perfect for our stay. Having a kitchen was wonderful.
There really isn't parking, except on the street and that was closed for street cleaning the night of our stay. We worked it out by parking at a nearby park.
Loved the big bedroom And bathroom, so clean and loved the old style. Much more interesting and friendly than new modern facilities. Windows that open a plus, and kitchen facilities and big living room in common area very nice especially the toaster! Great location too.
The stairs could be a problem for some?. Worth knowing about in advance just in case.
Charming place with a great shared searing area and small kitchen. I appreciated the abundance of coffee and the kettle for tea.
Main street location means limited street parking and noise from the street. A quiet town but a not so quiet street. Perhaps there was additional parking I didn't notice - it wasn't a problem for me in the shoulder season but in the summer it could get tight.
Location
We didn't like this accommodation in fact we left a day early. When I sent a message to let them know they didn't ask why just said ok. We never saw any staff as this was self checkin and out. The room needed a good clean and some attention. The bathroom curtain did not cover the window and the toilet was next to the window! The day we arrived there was a workman on the flat roof next to the bathroom window... luckily it rained the next morning so we were able to use the bathroom without feeling he was watching as he wasn't working! We didn't use any of the facilities in their kitchen as it wasn't a very nice area. The windows in the bedroom when open had to be propped open with pieces of wood!
It was a perfect stay for two nights in our road trip from miami to alaska. Simple but very clean and comfortable
