Location and staff
It¿s quiet
The comfort and quality was a huge surprise for the price and the appearence from the road. You see a liquor store and a small lobby. Once inside, it is VERY nice. Good staff, great room. Sound-proof, safe, secure, comfortable.

Location and overall room quality was good. Room was quiet and the breakfast choices were good.
The staff were very polite and helpful. Our family suite was big enough for 6 of us to spread out and sleep comfortably. The price was reasonable for a family suite and the breakfast was hot and fresh. We had a great hotel experience here.

Cheaper price
The place is---- bucks a night and was worth what I paid. It is old, and run down, but was clean and quiet. The owner and his family are very nice and the food at the Japanese Restaurant was really good, despite the lack of customers and poor service.

Top Tips
- Book 30-60 days in advance for non-corporate stays, as many Fort St. John hotels reserve blocks for oilfield contractors. Confirm flexible cancellation policies before finalizing, since rates can rise significantly during peak work weeks.
- Prepare for January temperatures averaging -15 to -20 °C. Request indoor or ground-level parking and engine block heater access to prevent cold-start issues. Ask about lobby seating or hot beverage service to make winter arrivals more comfortable.
- Fort St. John Airport (YXJ) is about 6 km (3.7 mi) or a 10-15 minute drive from downtown hotels. Confirm your hotel’s shuttle schedule in advance or ask about ride-hailing options for flights arriving after 20:00, as taxis are not always available late.
- Most midscale hotels offer truck and trailer-friendly parking. If you need extended or overnight space for longer rigs, call ahead to check lot limits, since not all hotels can accommodate very large vehicles overnight.
- For stays of three nights or more, consider booking a suite with a kitchenette, which can reduce meal costs by 30-50% compared to dining out twice per day. Compare estimated dining expenses to the nightly rate to assess your actual savings.
- Ask about Wi-Fi speeds and quiet work areas if you need to work remotely. While most hotels offer free Wi-Fi, speeds vary and may not always support video calls, so request the hotel’s Mbps or test on arrival, and bring a cellular hotspot for essential meetings.
- Midweek rates often spike as contractors fill hotel rooms. Traveling Friday to Sunday or booking full weekends could yield lower rates. Check local events or industrial schedules to plan your stay around peak periods.
- Request accessible or step-free rooms when needed. Fort St. John’s hotels are mostly low-rise, so accessible rooms can be limited; reconfirm your room assignment at booking to ensure it matches your requirements.
