This 16th-century converted convent is located in the historic Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It offers a terrace with panoramic views of the city, a private courtyard and free Wi-Fi. The elegant, air-conditioned rooms at El Beaterio feature cast iron furniture and exposed beams. They include views of the inner courtyard and have Cable TV and a safe. The private bathrooms include a bath or shower and a hairdryer. Pros +
- Loved the architectural character and charm. Our room (6) also had a table and chairs directly outside the entry and was overlooking the courtyard below, which was all a nice surprise. Powerful ceiling fan over the bed.
- The historic aspect
- This hotel is a dream come true. We slept in a 17th century convent with all the modern amenities of this one. Hotel Employees have so much class & social skills that they can work in the best hotel in Paris.
Cons -
- The hotel room lacked a dresser and the nightstands had no drawers for storage. So the clothes we could not hang on the closet hanger, got left in the suitcases. The A/C was preset and locked, and some felt the room was a bit warm for sleeping.
- Location wasn't in the best neighborhood
- We can't think of anything. Really!!

This hotel was my favorite part of my trip to Santo Domingo. The hotel is a tourist attraction in its own right! It is simply beautiful! The hotel is also very conveniently located to all the attractions in the Zona Colonial and the Malceon. GREAT hotel!
