    Pros +

    • The cabins are very clean and the staff and professional, kind and courteous. The amenities met my expectations. Their location is very near to Smuggler's Notch ski resort, which was our interest. It was rural without being remote and has great views.
    • We stayed in the Queen Studio for three nights, and honestly, it was everything I hoped for and more. The cabin itself was amazing and the pictures dont do it justice , it was spacious and everything in the cabin was thoughtfully laid out . This was an incredible reset for our nervous systems. The kitchen was well stocked and perfect for cooking and baking, which made our little stay feel like a true home away from home. We spent our time relaxing, watching movies, and baking cookies. The property itself is beautiful and clearly very well maintained, with Smugglers’ Notch just minutes away if you want to hike or ski. The cabin heated quickly, the water was nice and hot and did wonders for my wavy hair haha . I can’t wait to go back next year, hopefully for a longer stay and maybe try the one bedroom with the Jacuzzi. Also the staff was wonderful. It was -7° and my car battery died and they had a battery pack for us to use . Even in the middle of winter this place was amazing , I can imagine its even better later in the season . 10/10 definitely stay here!
    • We rented a studio cabin perfect for two of us and 2 dogs. Comfortable bed. Quiet resort. Staff was pleasant. Good location to see the Stowe area without being in the busier area.

    Cons -

    • The decor wasn't my taste. I realize that it is a cabin, but there was too much wood paneling. There wasn't anything wrong with it per se, but there wasn't enough interior lighting and the pictures were all dark (not in content but in terms of lighting).
    • Literally nothing this place was a dream come true.
    • I have nothing to complain about. We loved everything.

Our stay was amazing. It was so peaceful and quiet, exactly what I needed. The cabins are beautifully constructed, well-heated and super clean! The kitchen was well-equipped and everything was spotless. We used the fireplace, took walks and enjoyed the quiet. Staff was warm and very professional. Barb helped me a lot with the initial booking!

Very beautiful property! The cabin was very cozy with everything you could need. The staff in the office was very friendly and helpful. I loved the jacuzzi tub and took full advantage after days of hiking.

I have nothing to complain about. We loved everything.

Quiet. Log cabin was spotless. Most everything you need for your stay. Beautiful location. Husband liked the pond for fishing which was literally just a short walk from our cabin.

The pool was not heated despite the staff saying it was 80 degrees. It was at most 70. Even other guests said the same. Never saw anyone in it in it except one kid. I went in briefly- it was freezing - no warm water even coming out of the spouts. Big disappointment for me as it was one of several factors in choosing this resort- so I could swim due to my bad back. And I know heated pools as I have two timeshares in northern Vermont and New Hampshire with outdoor heated pools. Why they would say it was heated to 80 degrees when it clearly wasn’t is beyond me. One guest said suddenly the pool thermometer disappeared. The only other thing- and this is true at most resorts- the furniture in our cabin was not comfortable. The king bed was nice and big, but I’ve slept on much nicer mattresses at resorts. Was hard for me as I have a bad back.

We had an enjoyable stay for a ski trip to Smuggler's Notch. This is not a luxury resort, but it is definitely in the sweet spot for comfort, cleanliness and location. The cabin was comfortable with a wood stove and well-equipped kitchen. We were in a one bedroom which included a full size fold-out sofa bed. It was definitely feasible for a short stay with two adults and two kids. I do not know if they had availability for the two bedroom on our dates, but that might be worth considering if you have more people in your group. The resort staff were friendly and responsive when needed, but left us in peace the rest of the time, which is how I like it. The resort has extra towels and other essentials available at the front office as well as snacks, extra firewood and other items for purchase. The resort is located in a quiet area between the town of Jeffersonville and the Smuggler's Notch ski resort. It's a little tricky to navigate at night, but Waze got us there after a couple of missed turns. It was a short drive to the ski area in the morning and a short drive down 108 to Jeffersonville for food and other supplies. The location was peaceful and ideal for families. The resort has hikes set up and provides snowshoes for rent, but we didn't have time to explore this.

The only possible downside to note is that there are no dining options on site or within walking distance. You will need a car to get to the resort and to get around. You will also probably want to cook some of your dinners, which possible thanks to the kitchen in your cabin. Booking.com has an issue where scammers are able to spoof messages from the resort using the booking.com messaging system asking users to re-input credit card details in a suspicious website. Unfortunately, I did receive a few of these messages prior to my stay, but it was fairly easy to identify the scam. This is a known issue with booking.com (not just this property, search reddit for numerous examples). Please be aware of this and ignore messages asking for credit card details if you receive them. This is not a particularly well executed scam, but I can see how someone could fall for it given that messages are delivered through a booking.com channel.

Staff were so lovely and the property is beautiful. 5 minute drive to town and 7 minutes to smugglers notch ski resort.

The cabin was beautiful, extremely comfortable for my family of 5 (2 adults and 3 teenagers ages 15,16,17), and had a fully equipped kitchen. The staff was extremely amenable and friendly. The location was excellent, near Smugglers Notch for skiing.

What a hidden gem, it got great reviews, but we were still very pleasantly surprised at what a wonderful, relaxing resort it was. Met our needs of being near to Stowe, Burligton, hwy, yet remote enough so that we enjoyed the solitude, peace and quiet of VT and just being together. Wonderful, clean cabin, everything was mint so perhaps it had just been renovated, or they are all just that nice. Lots of nice hiking trails, pond to boat on, pool (too chilly this time of year), game room, DVD movies, plenty to do.

My only suggestions are that they turn the boats over so they aren't soaking wet from dew and rain, and upgrade them a bit, sort of a scrappy lot. Also hated the toiletries provided, so suggest they switch to dispensers in shower with stuff that actually smelled like soap. Otherwise absolute perfection!

Location was amazing well kept. Quiet. Peaceful. Close to smugglers notch skiing.

    Nothing comes to mind.

lighting in the kitchen poor. Bedrooms did not have heat, had to leave the doors open to the living area to have heat.

loved that the property was very private, in a beautiful scenic location yet still close to a lot of shops and great outdoor activities. we liked the welcome packet and free bundle of firewood upon arrival as well.

    nothing that we didn’t like

    8WaynePosted on: 5-5-2022

The price was good. Great location.

The showerhead wasn't the greatest. And I didn't think the bed was really comfortable.

Sterling is a great resort for families and pets. The cabins are well apportioned, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the resort is close to many activities including Smugglers Notch skiing. We - us and the dogs - had a great time morning and afternoon traipsing around the resort's trails; before and after a day of skiing.
