Cambria Hotel Rapid City near Mount Rushmore

The people were nice.

Towels worn out with holes. 1 coffee pod for 2 adults for 6 days is not enough coffee. The chair in the room was torn. The shower head shot too wide and had to use a washcloth to cover short head to get water on body. Beer taps, only one of 6 were available. One beer in the shop. All the chairs in the restaurant, the top lair of fabric on the seats were worn off. Cleaning room once during the whole week. No soap in the room. Refrigerator was set to coldest setting and froze/ruined fruit before we realized and turned it down.

We enjoyed that the hotel was close to the interstate.

We couldn’t check in until later but the lack of cleanliness in the room was terrible. The bedding had black hairs on it, someone’s socks were still in the room, the pull-out couch was never vacuumed so I asked for a sheet to cover the mattress, the room didn’t seem like anyone vacuumed and finally the staff was not friendly especially infront of our young kids.

Some of the rooms need a refurbish due to wear and tear. But the were clean and comfortable. Could use brighter lights I. Bathroom

Very clean and comfortable. The location was a good “base” for our trip.

The view from our room was unfortunate. Instead of the beautiful surrounding area we viewed another hotel. Our interactions with the staff left us feeling unwelcome. We did notice that was not the case with some other guests, specifically the commercial airlines personnel. Possibly they all had a prior connection to each other.The only positive interaction was with a member of housekeeping after we requested they come to our room. When checking in we ask for “light” housekeeping, basically only needing clean towels and washcloths. What we got was our bed linens removed and taken away. No replacements left. Dirty towels left in the bathroom with no clean towels left. The housekeeper who came to our room was friendly, personable, and very professional. She quickly rectified the situation. She was the only one of your staff to not act as if our presence was an inconvenience and we were unwelcome. We didn’t get her name, but I wish we had. She was a tall, dark haired lady. She was working on Saturday, September 13. While we watched college football, Tennessee losing to Georgia, she worked and chatted with us about the game. We so appreciated her! It appears your staff needs a refresher on customer service. Or possibly a reminder that they should treat others as they want to be treated.
