Pros +
- Charming vintage home in the heart of Portland.
- Very charming Craftsmen style house turned into a bed and breakfast. Quiet and comfy bedrooms. Walking distance to many restaurants. Definitely will stay here again on next visit
- The shared kitchen and common rooms. Good breakfast options.
Cons -
- The bathrooms were on the top floor, two floors above me. There was a powder room off the kitchen where I could brush my teeth, but I didn't feel comfortable searching around for a shower. Next time I'll stay in a room with a bath or a closer bath.

Location and historical original details
Felt like I was living in my own house. Friendly and courteous and would definitely stay there again.
One of the best places I've ever stayed. Very charming, beautiful, wonderful location. Lots of nice, interesting, kinda quirky (but not really) touches.
Myriad breakfast options. Loved the huge modern bathroom (Elliot Small room). Great location for public transportation and restaurants.
Nada.
Lovely old house in a really pleasant, lively, highly walkable neighborhood. Clean, quiet, and very comfortable. We spent a lot of time just sitting around reading and relaxing in the house's common areas (comfy, overstuffed couches and chairs, gently scuffed antique tables and cabinets, quirky old decor, lots of books), even though there were loads of excellent places to eat and drink up and down the street outside. Excellent kitchen facilities with plenty of breakfast food and drink on hand. Highly recommended.
no complaints.
the location was really nice! drank my morning coffee on the front porch and walked to a bar across the street in the evening.
Location is excellent. Parked the car and walked everywhere. Breakfast was great. Lots to choose from.
The pillows were too high….uncomfortable for neck. Would be nice to have 2 of the 4 pillows flatter.
Very comfortable, clean, pretty and 24 hour self serve breakfast.
No private bathroom attached to room.
This charming B&B is located a short drive from Reed college in a neighborhood full of cafe, restaurants, funky little shops. The serve-yourself breakfast has lots of options (pastries, cereals, yogurt, fruit etc.) The rooms are named after famous local writers, and the Victorian decor is fun.
Although most of the rooms have private bathrooms, in some cases your "private" bathroom is outside the room - you have to walk a couple of yards down the hallway to get to it.
Clean and warm. Nice location and a good value
Cute little spot. Shockingly quiet for an old house, it made us feel like nobody else is in the house. Details and decor are interesting and old-timey. Free street parking, lucky if close walk but not something we minded.
Is creaky when opening doors/turning on the bed. It smells old, and feels old. Private bathrooms can be outside the room, but the bathrobes were helpful.
Very comfortable, very clean, very homey, good staff, good location
Breakfast options were enough to provide variety. Lovely old house with nice main floor furnishings. Very homey feel and amazing location right in the heart of a fun, vibrant neighborhood with lots of restaurants and shops.
My bed was a bit wallowed out - the mattress needs to be replaced. To access the private bathroom, I had to walk into the hallway, which was a bit inconvenient but not a problem, per se.
They keep breakfast items at the fridge so they're easily accessible. The location is great - walking distance to a bunch of cool stuff. The house itself is pretty quiet considering it was built in the early 1900s and there are other guests staying. I slept well the two nights I was there. The contact people at the property are very responsive.
My only regret is that I didn't book directly with them. I booked a room that has a separate bathroom and the logistics of that were difficult to get used to, it's kind of like staying at your grandma's house and you can't go out however you want to the bathroom because your cousins are down the hall
Checkin was easy. We were lucky enough to get parking directly in front, which meant we didn't have to walk or drive around the block looking for parking. I love the idea of a guesthouse or B&B instead of a standard hotel room., but this time we didn't even avail ourselves of the breakfast - it was plentiful, but...only cold items
The room was quite musty smelling when we arrived. i imagine this is from old carpet?? The bed was comfy but small - I guess I am old fashioned, but I like seeing someone there and 'contactless' check in and out isn't my fav. We did not eat breakfast, but it consisted of everything cold in the fridge.
Location, cleanliness, shared common spaces
Great location for us. Nice front porch. Access to laundry was a plus. Charming older house. Breakfast was simple and nice to have available. Nice neighborhood.
Our room was in the basement so not much natural light. Room tended to be warm and stuffy. We used the fan provided and opened the one window (which opened outward at ground level and at the top of a set of stairs from the basement).
