The breakfast service was really slow when we tried the hotel’s breakfasr

This was my second stay at Smyth TriBeCa. Great location, decent size rooms and bathrooms.

While the stay was prepaid via Booking, the hotel kept blocking money on my credit card throughout the stay. I managed to clarify this through customer center (the hotel staff was not helpful at all). However, I ended up being overcharged $500+ for no reason. Between the customer center and the hotel, I still have not received the money back. Aside from that, the staff doesn’t seem to be interested in guests, generally ignoring them.

Clean, good location, safe. The 4*+ price was similar with Middtown 5*, however the facilities and reviews way better. This is the reason I have chosen Smyth TriBeCa and I was very happy with my choice.

The sister tavern charged me the gratuity tip without asking if I would want to leave a tip and they expected me to add again 20%. I find tipping an obligation in the US. In EU nobody is forced to leave 20% tip. You see a price on the menus and you land up paying extra 30% tax and tipping. Other than that, they were some extra charges made by mistake which the reception handled them in a decent manner. Hotel itself is great and I would stay there again.

The room was very spacious and clean with excellent views. It was also quiet. The location of the hotel is exceptional. It’s right next to the Chambers Street subway and close to multiple restaurants, shops and cafes. The reception staff were warm and welcoming. Would definitely return in a heartbeat.

These are really minor issues and didn’t detract from the overall joy of our stay. The carpet in the room was a little tired and worn. The bathroom was lovely but the hot water in the shower was quite unpredictable. We raised this with reception but it was unresolved - possibly a wider plumbing issue that can’t be solved.

Room was very small and with a small window overlooking a closed patio. Bathroom also small and with no ventilation.

The location was very good. The breakfast was great and the restaurant staff were very friendly. The size of the room was good too.

The shower has glass walls so it’s transparent and there is no privacy even the toilet has an open space with the shower without any door. I didn’t like it at all. No privacy whatsoever. The staff at front desk were mostly fine but some were not even nice . We stayed there for almost two weeks so we ran into most of them.

Very decent sized room, comfortable bed and nice bathroom/shower. The hotel toiletries are great.

Noise from the plumbing, flushing a toilet or running the shower was quite noisy and could be heard from neighbouring rooms. It wasn't explained at check-in how the included breakfast process works. I had to seek details to understand, it is not obvious.
