    Pros +

    • It was clean
    • I loved the history and quirkiness of the motel.
    • Social atmosphere and history.

    Cons -

    • The parking was so far away and no karts. The room was so small. The electrical outlets did not work by the bed.
    • The RiverLights was going on for Christmas which made traffic difficult.
    • No fridge in room; oversized (super king?) with legs outside of mattress profile led to cramped and worrisome walking space; unsatisfactory placement and inferior shower control (Open door, reach thru water stream to turn on & adjust temp with 1 handle).

Great unique motel! So cool !!! Was very close to golf Town for shopping and food. There was also a very cute taproom and did court at the motel! The rooms were very cute and comfortable.

    I loved everything!

El Vado is across the street from Botanical Gardens. The room was clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful. You can tell they remodeled it and are trying to keep it nice for everyone.

Parking was confusing a bit. You have to park on the side and walk up to the front to check in. They have little shops on the side. They explain parking when you get up front.

Two seperate areas inside. The old Route 66 vibe.

It's hard to figure out how to get into it.

Very cute, cool, modern hotel with all the right touches!

Expensive - Balloon Fest weekend! We were in town for a birthday.

Location and near to restaurants, shopping, etc.

Dim lighting. Tight spaces making it difficult to maneuver and move comfortably. Noisy air and heating system.

Loved the check in staff as well as the cool vibe around the hotel. The room was great and we would stay again when in Albuquerque.

Staying at the El Vado is like taking a trip back in time, in that the place has been refurbished in what I imagine is its original mid century modern aesthetic. The rooms were sparkling clean and spacious and they looked out onto the pool and deck area.

The location of the motel is kitschy cool in that it's on Route 66. This, however, means there is some traffic noise. This was not terribly important to us, and this slight negative was fully outweighed by the enjoyment we experienced there!

The live entertainment and the rooms are beautiful.

One of the most comfortable beds ever.

    Coffee in room worst ever.

Just a funky and cool Route 66 motel at an incredible price! Can't wait to stay here again...

    Nope!

Unique, love the layout around the courtyard. Nice to have restaurants on the grounds as well as tap room.. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Good location.

We did not see any breakfast provided. Coffee and Tea service available. Very cute place. The host upon arrival was fantastic as was a gentleman who worked there. Both knowledgeable and friendly.

A fridge in the room would be great. They were out of one of the mugs we wanted to buy. There were clearly 3 in the case but told not for sale. Check out was painful as Staff was not trained.

    3MichaelPosted on: 1-19-2026

The location was convenient, if you're doing things in that part of Albuquerque.

    1) There was confusion about our reservation when checking in. It would have been very helpful to known our room was not reserved when I called the reservation desk, weeks before our arrival. Fortunately, they did work us into a new room, but again was told it was one price at check in, and then they attempted to charge a higher price when I came back in, as requested to update our reservation. 2) Parking was confusing and lacking. 3) There was a horrible smell in our room. Enough to cause headaches and feel nauseous. I alerted the front desk and I felt like they've been told this before, but brushed aside our concern. 4) There's live music literally outside our door. Don't expect quiet and comfort sleeping outside a bar area.

I love this Place! The Bar, the music, the food!! So Fun! Definitely one of my Favorites!
