    Pros +

    • The location was phenomenal, room was spacious and comfortable. Great hot grab and go breakfast. I love how they made check-in so easy by putting envelopes with your name on it outside of the main house. They text detailed info before arrival & departure.
    • Walking distance. Staff super! Guest Happy Hour and breakfast was amazing!! Chef in the morning!!!
    • The staff was excellent. Friendly, and courteous.

    Cons -

    • The absolute only thing I would change is the products used to clean the bathroom. The bottom of the tub was black! They brought down the luxury feel of the location. Also, patch up the holes left in a few areas throughout the John Henry suite.
    • Really nothing
    • The lighting at the bathroom mirror could be brighter.

This bed a breakfast is an adorable property. The staff was welcoming, personable, and accommodating. The room was spacious and clean. We would have liked a mini fridge, but we understand that didn’t go with the antique theme of our part of the inn. Our room was not advertised as having one. We know other, more modern rooms did include one, so something to think about when you choose rooms if that is important to you. We did have a balcony overlooking a beautiful courtyard that would have been perfect for evening drinks if the weather would have been better.

The breakfasts were excellent. The owners were wonderful and accessible. And the location couldn't be better.

The lighting at the bathroom mirror could be brighter.

The Vandiver is so charming! Super comfy bed and the staff were all wonderful!

The room was super warm and we couldn’t turn the AC on. Luckily I was able to open a door to the outside to let some fresh air in once I turned the heat off. Even with the heater off, there was still hot air coming in through the vents in the floor. If there hadn’t been a small fan in the room, I would’ve been cooking. I was also bummed that it was so hot we didn’t get to light the fireplace which was the primary reason for booking the room that I did.

The comfortable bed. Excellent shower. Pretty decorations in the room. Stayed in the cockburn room.

Beautiful and very convenient location for culture, dining, drinks, and entertainment within walking distance.

The mattress in The Jack is super firm, which is good for some people, but a pillow top and/or thick mattress pad would have helped quite a bit.

The history of the buildings and property and the location. Bed was very comfortable and the room was large. Nice walking distance to dining and shopping. Plenty of parking on the street and behind the building in the parking lot. Friendly and helpful staff. Good communication via text messages was appreciated.

The jetted tub had been used and abused and didn't work very well. There were no instructions that we could find on how to use it either. We just had to guess. The bathroom door was falling off its hinges. The top hinge was being held on by one loose screw so we had to lift the door to open it and close it. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was not beneficial at all and should probably be replaced with a stronger one. There was a hair tie on the floor by the toilet plunger from a previous guest and a qtip next to the side of the bed from a previous guest. The coffee supplied in the room was awful and undrinkable. The door to the room needs a shade installed to keep the porch lights and other outdoor lighting from coming through the glass in the door at night. We had to drape something over the door so we could sleep.

It is a beautiful home on a quiet street. Since we stayed on Thanksgiving they were very accommodating on our check in process early and good instructions with keys.

The breakfast was delicious. The only thing that disappointed me was no fresh berries and the butter and jam was served to me in mini plastic tub, the kind you see in a cafeteria or a Hampton Inn breakfast. For a true bed and breakfast, I would not have expected that. The eggs and toast were delicious and made fresh which is nice. The mini split heaters in the Wolbert room did not work very well and we were a bit chilly overnight

Close proximity to my room. Ceremony within walking distance.

The mattress was not very comfortable.

My husband and I got married at the Vandiver 10 years ago and loved it so much that we decided to spend our 10 wedding year anniversary here this weekend and we fell in love with it all over again. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was extra special. I cannot say enough about our inkeeper Caroline. She was friendly and attentive and made sure we had the best stay possible. From champagne and a dessert board to a yummy breakfast not even the rainy weather could put a damper on our weekend thanks everyone there. We look forward to more anniversary stays in the years to come.

Lovely old mansion on a pretty tree lined street. Very helpful and friendly innkeeper Bobby. Nice hot included breakfast that was cooked to order and served quickly, along with very good coffee! Complementary wine and cheese at cocktail hour. Spacious room with nice porch with comfortable wicker chairs. Comfortable bed and linens. Easy and free nearby parking. Nicely landscaped well kept grounds.

    Internet was unreliable. Plastic flowers.

Interesting place, friendly and helpful staff (especially Brie). Good ambiance, good food.

    Bathroom not quite clean enough.

Bobbi was delightful. Great location for walking.

I did not get much sleep because the noise from the floor above was noisy. The floors should be more padded. Breakfast was ok, but there could have been a few more choices.

    staff was great! Historical property!

Interior needs some updating particular the bathroom.
