    Pros +

    • Wonderful room!
    • Beautiful grounds, lovely clean rooms, great breakfast (which was part of room price), dog friendly, great staff, interesting back stories.
    • Gorgeous grounds with beautiful gardens and plenty to do under normal circumstances.

    Cons -

    • The bartender ( Hannah)and tour guide(Suzannah) were incredibly knowledgeable and incredibly sweet!
    • Our room faced the road (River rd, I believe) it was a well traveled road, so quite a lot of road noise at times. None working deadbolt. However everything else about the hotel/grounds was so nice, it was easy to overlook (-:
    • The planning to have guests stay on property during a holiday was TERRIBLE. It was raining that day which cannot be controlled however planning in advance can be. We were forced to stay in our room because there were no plans to have additional areas open

Everything about this place exceeded our expectations. It was a beautiful place to stay. Cottages are well decorated and very comfortable. Food in the restaurants was delicious and not over priced. Grounds were well maintained and gorgeous.

had a wonderful stay at Houmas House. The staff was warm, attentive, and truly made the experience feel special. The rooms were beautifully appointed with luxury linens and thoughtful details that added to the comfort. The on-site restaurant was excellent—delicious food in a gorgeous setting. Overall, a perfect blend of Southern charm and upscale hospitality. Highly recommend!

Delightful, peaceful property. We enjoyed the gardens filled with Christmas decorations. We attended the Baton Rouge Symphony Christmas Concert, then stayed in one of the cottages. Had dinner at the Carriage House & breakfast buffet at the Dixie Cafe, all excellent.

Beautiful grounds to walk around. The room was nice and big. The breakfast buffet was good even though the coffee was just okay. Wish they had real Nola coffee.

Didn’t like the fact that after paying so much for a room, the tour of the home was not included. I called the museum to ask about this and the lady on the phone was not very friendly. With paying so much for a room, it should include the tour of the home.

Staying here was a delightful experience and it was beyond what I expected. The series of cabins are nestled in a beautifully landscaped section to the West of the mansion, gardens, museums, the Carriage House, and the Turtle Bar. I had already toured it via a day trip with Tours by Isabelle, so I knew what to expect. By night, it transforms to a magical place. My cabin shared a covered front porch, and was accessable without any stairs. It had antique furnishings, comfortable bed, and a lovely tiled bathroom with separate tub, 10 foot high shower, and a mirrored vanity shower that was at least 10 feet long. Although it did not have a fridge, it had a Keurig coffee maker. They will bring ice if you ask, and they take guests anywhere in the 38 acres by golf cart. Dinner was in the elegant carriage house, and breakfast was in the Dixie cafe. Don't miss the Turtle Bar!!! The staff is incredible! It was a very most lovely stay in a very unique place.

Other than not having a mini fridge, there was absolutely nothing negative to report. If you are traveling with an ice chest anyway, they can bring you ice to keep things chilled.

It’s amazing. So absolutely peaceful. The food is amazing and we can’t wait to come back. Very luxurious - rivaling Riz Caritons

If you’re an American - this was a wonderful place to visit. I know TripAdvisor tends to be more European but this was an amazing place to visit if you live here in America. If you are thinking about going, go! You will have an amazing stay. We can’t wait not wait to return and your dog is very welcome

Spacious, comfortable accommodation in the grounds of the plantation. Excellent breakfast buffet in Dixie's Cafe. Free to walk around the grounds with option to do a tour of the mansion and visit museum. Dinner in the grand restaurant was good.

Property was clean and beautiful. Breakfast was amazing. I liked that it was included in the price.

I wish they would have included the price in the tour or give a discount on the tour for people that stayed on the property.
