Riverview Mansion Hotel

Good wine.

This large house (hotel) is for people who like ghosts and a darker, older, busy environment. Some people would truly love this place. It¿s just not us.

Closer to Garden of the Gods and other attractions on Eastern side of the Shawnee National Forest than most other options. Eclectic interior mostly successfully invokes an old mansion. AC in our room worked very well.

Carpets in both the room and common areas needed cleaning (furniture/bed was clean). Our room had a jacuzzi tub but NO SHOWER - this should have been more clearly indicated on the listing. Expensive for Southern Illinois.

Staying at a place like this when traveling on business is a rare treat. The room was gorgeous and had a fridge/micro, Netflix and WiFi. The owners are dedicated and accommodating. I had a great time and look forward to visiting again.

The hotel was beautiful, they did an excellent job of staying true to the time period. They were very friendly and helped us with whatever we needed no matter the time of day. Beautiful beautiful room!!

Hearty breakfast to go. Dinner was great, talking with guests and owner with her children gives it a quaint comfy feeling. Sitting in parlor my husband played the guitar as we relaxed. Perfect location to visit many of the parks. Locals all welcoming at Diver Down and Lusky's. Affordable drinks and dinner @ Diver Down. Just a perfect way to see the fall colors, and enjoy the Ohio River views. We hiked at Cave in the Rock, Rim Rock, Garden of the Gods. Biked at Tunnel Hill, enjoyed wine tasting at Hogg Hollow and went into Metropolis to see the SUPERMAN of Illinois. Drive across the river into Paducah for cheap gas. Perfect location to stay, plus the history of the Mansion makes it even more intriguing. Highly recommend.

Just a bit more dusting and cleaning of the mirrors in the room would be recommended.

Small town and no access to a gym.

Loved the mansion! Comfortable and felt like home, plenty of fun decor to look at and I love a place with good bones and character. Amazing wine selection and a friendly host/family. Golconda is a cute little town and the location was convenient to our hiking plans for the following day

This place was SUPER COOL!!! STAY HERE! It's a neat place with awesome decor, great staff, super attentive and informational. I'm going to stay here again when in the area.

Very unique decor, friendly staff, great beer selection, nice front porch. We got good recommendations about what to do in the area that we would not have found on our own.

Back deck was not open due to storm damage. Breakfast was available in the room mini-fridge.

Proprietors were friendly. They gave us a bottle of wine and a bath set.

Too musty and dusty, bathroom renovation are also needed. The coffee pot hadn’t been cleaned out from previous guest and had mold growing in the bottom of the pot. A voucher to a local restaurant would have been better than the breakfast food in the mini refrigerator. Not worth what we paid for the stay compared to other accommodations we had in southern Illinois (e.g. Shawnee Forest Cabins).

The owners were very nice and accommodating. The building had a great deal of character.

The TV did not have cable or satellite.

We were there in the down time so we had no expectations.

I can say there was anything I didn't like!! Beth is an amazing host!!
